The exhibition is accompanied by an international conference with tutorials and workshops. PDC has been present at SMT Hybrid Packaging for the past 6 years and it has been very much worthwhile, because it has been an excellent opportunity to meet with customers, to make new contacts and obtain new leads. 9 Conference, Tutorials and Workshops The conference, tutorials and workshops offered a wide variety of exciting and current presentations. The program was assembled and arranged by the 25 committee members under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dieter Lang, Fraunhofer IZM. The presentations recorded 225 bookings from 13 countries. The majority of delegates came from the microelectronics, automobile and indstry sector as well as academia. 73% work in construction/development, production and quality assurance. After a successful premiere in 2015 the Open Source Workshop was again on the agenda this year. The delegates discussed technologies, materials and application of 3D printing in electronics. The workshop was well attended. The first conference session analysed Mounting technologies for intelligent sensor systems - requirements for the Internet of Things. Recognized experts from Bosch Sensortec, First Sensor, pro-micron, Otto Bock and APAG CoSyst discussed future challenges, new sensor principles, advanced integration technologies and practice oriented application expamples along the value chain. The second conference session addressed Assembly production implementation with Industry 4.0". Representatives of Fraunhofer IPK and IZM, SAP, FAPS, Siemens and ifm datalink presented future trends, data handling and data connection, process integration as well as experience and development reports regarding the use of Industry 4.0. The further program consisted of nine German and English tutorials conveying practice oriented expert knowledge. SMT Hybrid Packaging
