If you did not go, you missed a great opportunity to broaden your collection with some beautiful hibiscus. I bought twelve. My Tahoe was packed.

At our meeting we will be discussing what to do with our newly acquired hibiscus and Festival des Fleurs which is April 1st.

Remember, we give away at least four hibiscus plants at each meeting.

If you did not go, you missed a great opportunity to broaden your collection with some beautiful hibiscus. I bought twelve. My Tahoe was packed. Not only did I have my dozen, I had Buddy s plus twelve that he had picked up for the chapter. There was just enough room for me and my husband. At our meeting we will be discussing what to do with our newly acquired hibiscus and Festival des Fleurs which is April 1st. Any ideas on how to promote our chapter at the show will be greatly appreciated. Hope to see you at our March meeting. Remember, we give away at least four hibiscus plants at each meeting. If your answer is YES then proceed on to the greenhouse pictures. If however your answer is NO then I would suggest that you end this newsletter right now and skip the pictures from our nursery visit. If you disregard my warning and you continue on then you ll totally understand the question when you see the health of the nursery plants, the number of blooms on display, and all of the smiling faces from the members of the 3 chapters. The only negative I can think of is that there were just tooo many different varieties to select from. (I estimate about 100) Now you should understand why everyone is smiling. It was indeed another magnificent outing at the nursery. A huge, Thank You, to all of the staff and to the entire Dupont family. They made our experience one of a lifetime and we are soooo lucky to have the complete support of this fine organization. Merci Beaucoup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey gang, How about this weather? My plants have been talking to me and telling me that they are hungry and are looking for a good fertilizer application. I will oblige and so should you. I know it s still early in the hibiscus year so I m still monitoring the extended weather forecast. Hopefully my plants and yours can stay outside for the balance of February and March. I ll let you know if I see any temperature changes that concern me. In the meantime, let s enjoy these spring like temperatures.

3 Father Gerlich, President of the New Orleans chapter, just put out their chapter monthly newsletter and he had some fantastic comments on fertilizing and getting your plants off to a good start. I know he won t mind so I ll forward the entire newsletter to you rather than separating out certain sections. Read it carefully. Father really puts out The Word so learn from his wisdom and experience. After all, he has The Lord on his side. All you have is ME. To help you get started properly we ll be giving away free Space City water soluble fertilizer at our next meeting Tuesday March 7 th.. Be sure to be there. Those members wishing to purchase an additional canister of this Space City water soluble mix can do so at our cost of $10 per small bucket. We will once again this year offer our chapter granular fertilizer. The chapter pricing remains the same: 50 lbs. bag at $25 or a first time buyer of a full canister for $10. (Remember if you bought a canister last year and you bring the canister to the meeting, it can be filled for $5) Those prices are really cheap so be sure to take advantage. The big bags can be picked up at my house. As an added plus, Connie Chauvin has provided some air tight buckets to anyone purchasing a big bag. These are excellent for storing your granular in. Our granddaughter and chapter member, Hannah Gallagher (now 18), was recently featured as a primary Instructor at a dance school in New York City. As if that wasn't enough, in the next 10 days she will instruct again in Washington D. C. and participate in a dance school in Los Angeles. With that type Schedule it would appear that the hibiscus world is a fond memory. As her grandfather, I will remember forever Hannah and her two little sisters helping me to plant my hibiscus seeds.
