Itroductio 1.1 About this maual This maual describes the coectio of the comfort air curtai Sesair, the idustrial air curtai model IdAC 2 or the air heater model NOZ 2 to the commuicatio protocol Modbus RTU ad its use. For a possible coectio to BACet, the maual describes the istallatio of a gateway which makes commuicatio with BACet possible. The cotets of this maual also apply to BACet, uless otheise specified. For IdAC 2 ad NOZ 2, it is the case that oly uits with a automatic cotrol (type Auto) ca be coected to a commuicatio protocol. 1.2 Required basic kowledge To use this maual, you must have geeral kowledge of the commuicatio protocol ( Modbus RTU Slave or BACet ). This maual is ot a guide to this protocol. 6 2.. Istallatio 2.1 Special poits Modbus/BACet The uit is desiged for commuicatio with a Modbus system. With the aid of a ItesisBox ateway, it is also possible to commuicate with a BACet system Multiple uits o Modbus If you coect multiple uits to the Modbus system, various set-ups are possible. The set-up determies from which uit the local ad global registers ca be set ad/or read out. Opmerkig: The global registers are used by the automatic cotrol. Opmerkig: For operatio, it does ot matter whether uits without cotrol circuit board (type basic) are also preset. Opmerkig: For the illustratios, the NOZ 2 has bee used. The same priciples apply to other uits. SINLE MASTER MASTER - SLAVE MULTIPLE MASTER Local registers: Relate to the coected uit. lobal registers: Relate to the coected uit. 7 MODBUS MANUAL INSTALLATION Commuicatio parameters The Modbus system must comply with the followig commuicatio parameters: COMMUNICATION PARAMETER VALUE Baud rate 9600 DATA 8 Parity oe Stop bits 1 The turaroud time betwee the uit ad Modbus is 4.2 msec Wirig A twisted-pair cable must be used for coectio to the Modbus system. The cable must also have a third core for the ND (groudig). Normally, a four-pole, twisted-pair cable is used; oe pair is used for commuicatio ad oe core from the other pair is used as the ND. Modbus A = - Modbus B = + ND = groud Note: If there is o commuicatio, this may be caused by icorrectly coected wirig. Swap the A- ad B+ wires. Maual for software versio U ( ) e-7

8 INSTALLATION MODBUS / BACNET 2.2 Coectig the gateway for BACet (accessory) The uit is desiged for commuicatio with a Modbus system. With the aid of a gateway, this ca be coverted to commuicatio that is suitable for BACet. w Warig: Make sure that the mais supply is switched off. w Warig: Make sure that the power supply to the BACet system which is to be coected is switched OFF. 1. Mout the gateway to the wall or o a DIN rail. 2. Coect the gateway to the BACet IP (termial 1), i accordace with the wirig diagram. 3. Usig the adapter, coect the gateway to a power socket (coectio 2), i accordace with the wirig diagram. Note: I the absece of a power adapter, you yourself must fit a switch (250V, 6A) betwee the gateway ad the power supply. 4. Coect the uit to the gateway (termial 3) as described i Coectig the uit to Modbus. 2.3 Coectig the uit to Modbus Accessig the cotrol circuit board For SesAir: The coectio for Modbus is o the top of the uit. For IdAC 2 ad NOZ 2 : The coectio for Modbus is o the cotrol circuit board i the uit. Ope the uit as described i the uit s operatig maual. Warig: w Make sure that the mais supply is switched off. e-8

9 MODBUS MANUAL INSTALLATION Coectig the uit to Modbus 1. Lay a cable betwee the Modbus system ad the uit. I the case of BACet: Lay the cable betwee the gateway ad the uit. 2. Attach the cable to the uit, i accordace with the wirig diagram supplied: I the case of BACet: Use the circuit diagram below. For SesAir: - Coect the cable to termial X74 o the upper side of the uit. For IdAC 2 ad NOZ 2 : - Feed the cable ito the electroics housig. - Coect the cable to termial X380 1 of the uit s cotrol circuit board. Note: For a more reliable sigal, it is possible to coect a 120 Ohm resistor. For this purpose, place a bridge betwee positios 1 ad B of termial X382 o the cotrol circuit board i the uit. Coectig multiple uits to Modbus If you also wat to be able to read out the local registers of each uit idividually, the Modbus coectio must be coected i series. For SesAir: 1. Lay a cable betwee the uits. 2. Coect the cable o both uits to termial X74 (o the upper side of the uit). 3. Repeat steps 1 ad 2 for each uit that is to be coected i series. 10 INSTALLATION MODBUS / BACNET For IdAC 2 ad NOZ 2 : Note: Oly uits with a cotrol circuit board (type Auto) ca be coected i series to the Modbus system. 1. Lay a cable betwee the uits. 2. Feed the cable ito the electroic housigs. 3. Coect the cable i the first uit to termial block X382, i accordace with the wirig diagram. 4. Coect the cable i the secod uit to termial block X380, i accordace with the wirig diagram. 5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 iclusive for each uit that is to be coected i series. 2.4 Eterig the Modbus ode address The default value for the Modbus ode address is 1. Depedig o the Modbus etwork, it may be ecessary to chage this. This ca be doe via the dip switches o the cotrol circuit board. Note: Valid Modbus ode address umbers are Note: The Modbus ode address must be coverted to a 8-digit code Determiig the code The dip switches are coded as follows: DIP SWITCH value (ON) Determie the 8-digit code of the Modbus ode address as follows: 1. Divide the umber by 2 over ad over agai util the result is 0. After each divisio, ote the residual value. e-10

Coect the possible gateway for BACet (accessory) to the mais supply, makig use of the adapter. w Warig: I the evet that the adapter is abset: Coect the gateway to the mais supply i accordace with the locally applicable requiremets. 2. Switch o the mais supply. 3. Activate the coectio with the commuicatio protocol by switchig the power supply of the uit off ad o. Note: If the coectio with the commuicatio protocol is active, you ca possibly remove the b-touch cotrol pael. 2.6 Cofigurig the gateway for BACet (accessory) I order to make commuicatio with BACet possible, the gateway has to be cofigured. 1. Dowload the ecessary software from the maufacturer s website Coect a computer with the software to gateway Istall the software. 4. Program the register addresses that you wish to use. Note: Durig the istallatio, a maual is saved to: C:\Itesiss\LikBoxMB\DocsMB Note: The umber of data poits to be used is depedet o the module applied. e-12

13 3.. Frequetly used register addresses 3.1 Itroductio This chapter describes frequetly used fuctios ad their correspodig register addresses. Listed i chapter 4 are all register addresses. Note: Fuctios ca be adjusted both o the b-touch cotrol pael ad via Modbus. The most-recetly set sigal is valid. Note: Some settigs ca oly be adjusted via the b-touch cotrol pael. Note: It may occur that the system applied uses a value of 1 higher tha the register addresses give here. I that case, use 101 for register address 100, for example. 3.2 Register addresses for room temperature cotrol The automatic cotrol keeps the room temperature at the set desired temperature. 14 FREQUENTLY USED REISTER ADDRESSES MODBUS / BACNET 424 Required room temperature You ca set the temperature to a comfortable level. I this register address, the default value of the desired temperature is set. Temperature adjustmets via the home scree of the b- touch cotrol pael are oly possible if the register address 414 has bee set to 0 (chages via b-touch permitted) ad apply oly util the start time of the ext switchig momet by Modbus. 209 Discharge temperature setpoit. The required discharge temperature is calculated by the automatic cotrol. I the case of multiple uits, the required discharge temperature is set at the same for each uit. 208 Discharge temperature The discharge temperature is used by the automatic cotrol. I the case of multiple uits, the average value is used. Note: If a sesor is ot detected, the cotrol for this sesor uses the lowest possible value (-499). 203 Room temperature The measured room temperature is used by the automatic cotrol. The value is corrected with the value that has bee set i Meu parameter 9. Calibratio of the b-touch cotrol pael. Note: Meu parameter 71. Idoor temperature sesor of the b-touch cotrol pael determies which sesor is used for the automatic cotrol. 149 Heatig output The automatic cotrol calculates how much heat must be added ad adjusts the positio of the water valve accordigly. e-14

The uit ca also be switched ON ad OFF i other ways: Usig exteral cotrols Via the iteral timer or via a exteral release sigal o the uit. Values VALUE OPTION DESCRIPTION 0 Off The uit is switched off. The uit reacts to sigals o the iputs o the uit ad to the cotrol pael, ad to the timer. If this fuctio is eabled, the uit will start workig whe the temperature i the room drops below the ight temperature. The frost protectio is active. 1 O The uit is o (ormal operatio) 2 Holiday settig (ot applicable) The uit is switched off. The uit does ot react to sigals o the iputs or to the timer. 16 FREQUENTLY USED REISTER ADDRESSES MODBUS / BACNET 421 Turig the heatig o ad off The uit s heatig ca be switched o ad off maually. Switchig the heatig off disables the room temperature cotrol. If the heatig has bee switched o via this fuctio, it may occur that the automatic cotrol switches the heatig off agai. This may be due to a exteral sigal, for example, or because the desired temperature has bee reached. The heatig ca also be switched off by the cotrol itself. 422 Maual settig of the stregth With the maual settig, you ca select the stregth. To achieve maximum comfort with miimum eergy cosumptio, Biddle recommeds selectig the lowest stregth at which the airflow touches the groud. This settig may possibly eed to be chaged durig the course of the day. The uit ca oly be cotrolled maually if the fuctios below have bee set as follows: MENU PARAMETER REISTER ADDRESS DESCRIPTION VALUE 1 - Select modes (Optios for modes) Automatic or maual cotrol Curret status Cautio: Use this address oly for readig out. Use 425 for writig. 1 = allowed: maual 3 = allowed: maual, automatic 0 = maual 423 Adjustig the automatic stregth cotrol I automatic mode, the stregth ad temperature of the airflow are regulated automatically. Due to weather coditios,i certai circumstaces, you might wat to adjust the automatic settig. If you feel a cold draught alog the floor, you ca icrease the automatic stregth. The uit ca oly be cotrolled automatically if the fuctios below have bee set as follows: e-16

With the NOZ 2 : I automatic mode, the fa stregth is adjusted to the temperature of the airflow ad the set height of the uit. 18 FREQUENTLY USED REISTER ADDRESSES MODBUS / BACNET 103 Vetilatio valve positio Oly with NOZ 2 uits with vetilatio (types 25V ad 50V) Depedig o the settigs, the uit ca blow a set percetage of vetilatio air. Note: I meu parameter 35.1, Vetilatio cotrol, of the b-touch cotrol pael, oe ca eter whether the valve positio ca be set o a percetage basis or whether it ca oly be either etirely ope or etirely shut. Note: I the case of vetilatio uits without recirculatio, the value is always 128 (100% ope). 204 Outdoor temperature With the SesAir ad IdAC 2 the outdoor temperature is used by the automatic cotrol. A average value is take over a period of 3 miutes. The outdoor temperature ca be determied i various ways: By the IR sesor. (oly with SesAir) By a wired outdoor sesor. By makig a estimate, based o the moth of the year ad your coutry. With the NOZ 2 this fuctio is ot applicable. e-18

39 5.. Errors 5.1 Resolvig simple problems PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION The uit does ot respod to Modbus commads. The uit fuctios differetly from expectatios. The values of the readigs are ot correct. There are errors i the commuicatio. No commuicatio with the Modbus etwork. The distace betwee the Modbus system ad the first uit is too great, which results i the module ot gettig eough power supply. The wirig has bee coected wrogly. The uit has a icorrect Modbus ode address. The baud rate of the Modbus system has bee set wrogly. The uit is cotrolled temporarily via the b-touch cotrol pael. The wrog register address is beig read out. Check the coectio ad the cables of the Modbus etwork. Remove excess cotrol cable. Reverse the Modbus A- ad Modbus B+ coectios. Check the uit s Modbus ode address. Set the Modbus system to the correct baud rate. Default value is Chages via the b-touch cotrol pael apply oly util the startig time of the ext switchig momet by Modbus. If desired, modify the associated register address so that chages via the b-touch cotrol pael are ot permitted. Read out the correct register address. It may occur that the system uses a value of 1 higher. I that evet, use 101 for register address 100, for example. The read-out type is icorrect. Check the type of the address. Poor Modbus cablig.
