THE INTERVIEW Welcome back, everyone! How did you spend your summer holidays? What are your plans for the new school year? Are you excited for Halloween? We hope you ve had a great summer break. But now it s time to get back to school. This month our Reporters asked about your summer holidays, your plans for the new school year, and of course... your plans for Halloween! 3 The Interview e hope you ve had a great summer break. But now it s time to get back to school. This month our Reporters asked our Readers about their summer holidays, their plans for the new school year, and of course... their plans for Halloween! What were your summer holidays like? What did you do? Where did you go? Whom did you go with? Lidka: My summer holidays are happy and interesting. I rode a horse and swam in the sea. I went to the seaside and in Italy. I went with my family. Julie s Dad: I was in Pieniny. It s is small chain of mountains in the south of Poland. I climbed a few peaks. The highest is called Wysoka. It took over three hours to go there. I was there with my family. Iga: My summer holidays were funny and great. I went to camp on the Mazury Lakes. I went with my friend Ala. I also did some swimming. What are your plans for the new school year? Are you taking up any new activities this year? Lidka: I want to have fun with learning. I m going to take up swimming. Julie s Dad: My plans for the new school year are to learn a new language. I want to take up new activites this year - I plan to go jogging. Iga: I want to have good grades. I also want to go the swimming pool. What do you think of Halloween? Are you doing anything for Halloween? Are you going to dress up as anyone or anything? Lidka: I m not doing anything for Halloween and I m not going to dress up as anyone or anything. Julie s Dad: I think Halloween is funny holiday. I will go to the neighbours and I will say Trick or Treat. I hope they will have some sweets. J Iga: I like Halloween, but I m not doing anything for Halloween. I won t dress up. 4 My Holiday We went to the Bieszczady Mountains. We stayed in a village called Strzebowiska, which is near Cisna. We walked in the mountains all day. We climbed the highest peak of Bieszczady - Tarnica (1345 meters above sea level) as well as many others peaks. We also went to Połoniny. We swam in mountain streams. We saw many animals: foxes, different types of deer (including the Roe Deer!), birds, frogs, and one snake. There was a lot of mosquitoes. We saw a lot of forests and many beautiful views. We also went to Star Sky Park (Park Ciemnego Nieba) and we saw falling stars and a few of Saturn's moons (they looked like Sauron's Eye from the Lord Of The Rings). After hiking all day, we played board games or card games in the evening. This holiday was fun, but climbing the mountains is tiring :-) Authors: Krzyś Smoliński Ola Smolińska 4

5 My Favourite Book My favourite book Rodrick. He has many is the Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Kinney Jeff. The adventures. I would really book has got about ten or recommend this series to eleven parts. There are now anyone, I had a great time more than 185 million reading it. copies of Diary of a Wimpy Kid books available in 53 languages. It is a very funny and good book. It is both a book and a comic book. It is about boy who is trying to be better than his brother Author: Iga Z-C My Favourite Movie This is the third part of the Despicable Me series. The main plot is about Balthazar Bratt, a former child star, who invents a plan to take over the world. Gru gets together his long-lost twin brother Dru, and the whole family (Lucy and the Girls) have to stop Balthazar. I won t give you any more spoilers though! The main characters are voiced by Steve Carell (as Gru and Dru), Kristen Wiig (as Lucy), Trey Parker (as Balthazar). I liked this movie very much, because it was very funny, and the Minions were great, as usual. Author: Julia Knap 5

6 My Room I would like to tell you a bit about my room. It s my favourite place. There are a lot of special things in my room: - one of my favourite things is my collection of minerals. I even have a clock made out of agate it is an amazing mineral. I have about 50 types of minerals. My favourite minerals are: rainbow halo, agate and amethyst. I also like my collection of trophies. My room is very special to me because it s always cold in summer. It s a place where I feel good. Author: Mateusz Szewczyk 6

Paul: I could actually, it s just that you re a bit loud. * * * - Why is the calendar scared? - Why did the cow cross the road? - It wanted to go to the MOOvies. Q: What is an illigator? A: A sick crocodile. - Because his days are numbered. * * * Mom: Anton, am I a good mother? Son: My name is Paul. - How can you make the number seven an even number? - Get rid off the s! - Why did the computer go to the doctor? - It was suffering from a virus!
