1 AS OF 11/2015 SYSTEM INFORMATION LYNX-CAPA Track & Trace Solutions Description The systems of the product family LYNX-CAPA are designed for the packaging process in regard to Track & Trace requirements. Single and multiple units are marked or labeled and verified. The processing of serialised data is handled by the scanware DataHandler. 2 System Stations MV, CI and MA possess a modular built. The wheeled bottom part contains electronics, the middle part holds the compressed air unit. The top unit contains the display and, where applicable, the printer. The drive is realised with brushless and, consequently, wear-free engines. The utilisation of epicyclic gear boxes enables optimal power transmission. The complete housing consists of stainless steel. All components are standard parts which guarantees an ideal spare parts supply. All units are equipped with an emergency shutdown and a signal light. Complete machine control of transport, printer and camera via a PLC. The visualisation of all components occurs in standard scanware GUI. The combination of compact, robust construction and the established print inspection system LYNX-SIGNUM HR makes the Track & Trace family LYNX-CAPA a reliable and easy-to-handle solution. The systems support all international coding standards currently established such as GS1, IFA, China E-Coding etc. and further codes can be implemented. LYNX-CAPA MV Mark & Verify Production data is printed on folding boxes and the readability inspected. Construction The level of box feeding is variable and usually ranges from 750 1,050 mm. Other heights upon request. The ejection for units of up to 300 g occurs pneumatically. For heavier units, a turnout moves the unit in a shaft of appropriate size. For very heavy or fragile objects, an ejection turnout is used which pushes folding boxes with faulty print on a platform with designated sensors. Tool-free adjustment to individual folding box sizes. Sensors The light barrier sensor triggers the printer, camera shot, ejection and length measurement of the box. The sensor position can be adjusted mechanically with a mandrel or electronically. Another sensor oversees the good product lane in order to verify rejection. Where applicable, both the machine prior and after the station can be stopped when the station does. Print Precise printing due to folding box guidance from both sides. Compatible to printers by Wolke, REA, Bluhm and Domino. Other printers, e.g. DoD can be implemented upon request. Printing on top of box optional. Also available as installation in cartoners and checkweighers. Maximal standard sizes of folding boxes: A = mm, B = mm, H = mm Larger boxes possible on request. 350 folding boxes per minute with a transport interval of 50 mm can be processed.

3 LYNX-CAPA TE Tamper Evidence Folding boxes are printed and verified. Afterwards, they are sealed with tamper-evident labels and the position of labels are inspected by cameras on each side. Construction The level of box feeding is variable and usually ranges from 750 1,050 mm. Other heights upon request. Adjustment to individual folding box sizes happens toolfree. Safety housing optional. Sensors Both labellers and both cameras are equipped with an individual sensor to enable high precision of label placement. Digital position indicators enable reproducible formats. Where applicable, both the machine prior and after the station can be stopped when the station does. Print Precise printing due to folding box guidance from both sides. Compatible to printers by Wolke, REA, Blum and Domino. Other printers, e.g. DoD can be implemented upon request. Printing on top of box optional. Tamper-evident Sealing Standard station with HERMA 400 labelling unit with label placement precision of 0.5 mm. Labelling is implemented for all closing patterns and can be adjusted tool-free. Folding boxes with insufficient print are not sealed but ejected unsealed to facilitate easy retrieval. In this case, the code data is not sent to the database. Both label storages are integrated and accessible from the front. They include an automatic filling level alert and are placed in a drawer for comfortable exchange. Electronic unwind unit optional. Label sizes: A, B = minimum mm, maximum mm Labels can also be placed on top, e.g. bollini. The use of clear, luminophorous labels is the implemented option. Labels containing print and printing on labels are optional.

4 LYNX-CAPA CI Case Inspection Inspection of large numbers of prints with LYNX-SIGNUM HR and data transfer to database Camera Depending on sizes of the objects to be inspected, cameras with resolutions of 16 to 29 megapixels and integrated W-LED illumination are commonly used. The camera is height adjustable. To adjust the camera to case sizes, a winder is used. For cases with multiple layers of folding boxes, a servo motor handles height adjustment. Construction The correct position of cases is checked by vacuum suction. When the correct position is attained, the camera shot is triggered. If all data is correct, a label print occurs. The table on which cases are placed is at the ideal height to facilitate back-friendly working. The scanware DataHandler includes aggregation functionality. 5 LYNX-CAPA MA Manual Aggregation Bundles, cases and pallets are labelled and subsequently scanned and inspected data transmitted to the database. Packing table with guide rail for handy placing and scanning of labels. Equipped with label printer and hand scanners. Installed in fixed position for speedy movement and flexible for pallets. Faulty objects are checked out using a handscanner. The code of the required action is scanned, followed by the unit that needs to be checked out. The data is then removed from the data base. Also available as installations to existing structure. Software Data Input For filling in the data to be printed, scanware has developed the One-Label concept. The printer is incorporated in the unit and is not immediately reachable for added security. Data to be printed is entered in the menu and transmitted to the printer. The basis for this is the universal One-Label which offers variable numbers of characters and lines, using wildcards for maximum flexibility. The entering of data is made even more comfortable since the user needs no prior knowledge of coding standards. The input of raw data takes place in separate fields or drop-down menus. The layout of the characters in print is chosen in another field. For example, the user can choose US-style layout of the expiry date in the corresponding window.

6 Data Aggregation In order to make data aggregation adjustable, scanware has introduced the DataHandler which manages all events and data relevant to the aggregation process. All other modules work independently from each other. Communication with the DataHandler always occurs directly. LYNX-SIGNUM Print Controller System LYNX-SIGNUM Aggregation Labels are placed and read by a scanner. Read data is transmitted to the DataHandler. If all data is correct, aggregation of object and label data occurs and data is sent to the main data base. These steps are independent of the number of modules. The advantage of this closed system is the high flexibility of the aggregation process. The process for the scanware DataHandler remains the same, no matter if a step for bundles or paletts is introduced.
