1 Mon 2/17/14 AB1, AB5 Painting II Introduce gesso and oil paints and materials Begin painting with oil paints Receive mount to begin planning your next 3 plates 1 st plate due Wednesday
2 Instructions on Aluminum Plate 1. Print out your image- 5X5 (make sure it s a close- up) 2. Practice on a test piece 3. Cut and tape your photo to the front of your metal 4. Use Styrofoam or newspaper for pressure 5. Trace your animal outline and fur texture with a pencil 6. Check for thoroughness 7. Begin pushing out the form with the rounded end of the scissors 8. Push out the most protruding part of the face next. i.e. : snout, beak, nose, trunk, etc. 9. Define other features Eyes, ears, cheek bones, veins, etc. 10. Develop your texture

Allow it to dry completely before painting the next two coats. PAINT 3 COATS OF GESSO. 14. Begin painting your plate with oil paints. 15. Start with the lightest colors. 16. Exaggerate your colors!!!! 17. Begin planning your next three plates.
