2 Nail Fin Flat Casing Instruc ons For Milgard Essence Series Windows and Doors Install Window per AAMA installa on standard. Read instruc ons from beginning to end before assembling or installing Flat Casing. Flat Casing is not compa ble with other Milgard Window or Door offerings. Do not use Flat Casing on other manufacturers products. Window or Door must be properly installed and flashed prior to Flat Casing installa on. Milgard Nail Fin Flat Casing does not provide structural support or func on as a water barrier. Use exterior grade high quality sealants. For compa ble TiteBond Sealant colors refer to page 15. Required Tools Screwdriver with #2 Phillips bit Caulking Gun 2

4 Notes For Proper Installa on Flat Casing lip rests on the face of the frame. Flat Casing lip does not rest inside the accessory groove. If siding will not be applied around Flat Casing, use HA8300CPML. HA8300CPML provides a more permanent connec on. Trim is difficult to remove if using HA8300CPML. HA8300CPML 4

6 Special Instruc ons for Shape and Radius Windows Install Window per AAMA installa on standard. Milgard provides Shape and Radius Flat Casing clipped to Window Frame. Remove trim by gently pulling on any corner. Skip to Step 10 for Trim Installa on. 6

7 Corner Key Assembly 1 Determine Header and Leg Trim pieces. 2 Insert Corner Keys into Flat Casing Header miter ends. Note: There are two Corner Keys per miter corner. 7

8 Corner Key Assembly (Con nued) 3 Start #8 x 5/8 Flat Head Screw into one hole. Tighten screw halfway. Repeat for all Corner Keys. 8

9 Flat Casing Assembly 4 Lay out Flat Casing outside face down on a flat surface. 5 Fit joints together. 9

10 Install Screws 6 Locate all Screw Holes. With Screw halfway ghtened, rotate screw head un l second Corner Key Screw Hole appears. 7 Inject sealant into exposed hole of Corner Keys (half a squeeze per Corner Key). 10

11 Install Screws and Foam Plug Installa on 8 Install #8 x 5/8 Flat Head Screws Miter Corners: Start screw into second hole and ghten un l head is flush with Flat Casing. Finish ghtening first Screw. 9 Squeeze Foam Plug into open end of Flat Casing. Push Foam Plug in un l it is flush with end of Flat Casing. Repeat for other open end. 11

12 Trim Clip A achment 10 Install Trim Clips onto Window Frame. Space Trim Clip 1.5 away from Corner. Tap two Trim Clips into top corners. 11 Install Permanent Trim Clip 1.5" away from bo om of each Window Jamb. 12

13 Trim Clip A achment (Con nued) If any side of the Window is 47 or longer, tap Trim Clips into side. Note: Use HA8300CPML instead of HA7826MI for a stronger connec on. Spacing between Trim Clips should not exceed 4. Add addi onal Trim Clips where necessary for a more secure fit. 13

14 Trim Installa on 12 Apply 1/4 diameter 2 long beads of sealant to back of Flat Casing. Space beads 18 apart. 14

15 Trim Installa on (Con nued) 13 Push Flat Casing onto Window Frame un l it seats fully. 14 Flat Casing does not snap onto Permanent Trim Clip. To avoid damaging Flat Casing, place wood block directly over Flat Casing in Permanent Clip area. Tap Flat Casing onto Permanent Clip. 15

16 Clean Up Wipe up any excess sealant. Clean up scuff marks with soap and water.
