5 Pacbld Sidings Pacbld Sidings (Eterside) Product Information PACBLD SIDINGS (ETERSIDE) is a medium density fibre cement weatherboard that is used for external cladding. 1. Product composition PACBLD SIDINGS (ETERSIDE) weatherboards consist of the following: Portland cement Mineral fillers Organic reinforcing fibres Functional additives 2. Production method PACBLD SIDINGS (ETERSIDE) weatherboards are manufactured on a FLOW-ON machine and are autoclaved at high temperature and pressure. PACBLD SIDINGS (ETERSIDE) weatherboards are produced by Etex Group, the most global manufacturer of fibre cement with production facilities in 40 different countries. PACBLD SIDINGS (ETERSIDE) has superior water, frost and delamination resistance and has excellent impact and tensile resistance and is easily workable. The formulation used is the same as for Pacbld Refined (Eterpan) fibre cement sheets. There are 2 sizes of Pacbld Siding products available - Pacbld Siding (Eterside) 150 & 180 Bevel Back Weatherboards 3. Colours PACBLD SIDINGS (ETERSIDE) comes in a light beige colour. No other colours are available. 6. Testing and technical properties (average values) Eterpan sheets are classified Type A under the requirements of AS Cellulose Cement Products, Part 2 Flat sheets. Eterpan has been tested by BRANZ and reported in MTR 1083 to AS which defines standards of performance for flat sheets of cellulose-cement products. The results are summarised as follows:- (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) (v) Determination of Flexural Strength Modulus of Rupture: results gave Eterpan a category 2 for a type A board (external use) in AS , section 6. Determination of Water tightness: requirements for a type A (external) sheet in AS met (i.e no water droplets on the reverse side of the sheet were evident). Determination of Resistance to Hot Water Soaking: after hot water soaking the test samples did not show any visible cracks, structural alteration, or delamination as required in AS for type A (external sheets). The 95% confidence limit of the ratio of mean hot water MOR to mean control MOR was above 0.8 as also required. Determination of Resistance to Heat/Rain: after heat/rain exposure, the test samples did not show any visible cracks, structural alteration, or delamination as required in AS for type A (external sheets). Determination of Resistance to Freeze/Thaw: after freeze/thaw exposure, the test samples did not show any visible cracks, structural alteration, or delamination as required in AS for type A (external sheets). 7 Code Compliance Eterpan has a BRANZ 50 year durability opinion, ref BDO 98/3 and meets the following performance criteria of the N.Z.B.C. 1. Durability: a. When as a non structural part of the building envelope Eterpan meets the N.Z.B.C durability requirement of 15 years according to clause B2.3.1(b). b. When as a structural part of the building envelope Eterpan meets the N.Z.B.C durability requirement of 50 years according to clause B2.3.1(a), when coated with a water impermeable treatment, maintained over the life of the product. c. Eterpan is producer guaranteed against physical or mechanical deterioration for 50 years. 2. Hazardous Building Materials: Eterpan is a non hazardous product according to N.Z.B.C Performance F2. 8 8. Working guidelines Cutting: Pacific Build Supply Ltd operates a CNC waterjet cutting machine in Auckland that facilitates the cutting of intricate designs with minute tolerances. Please contact Pacific Build Supply Ltd for more information. For on site cutting: With a stationary saw, slow rotation with tungsten carbide-tipped blade or fast rotation with a fluted diamond cutting blade. With a hand circular saw (with rail), slow rotation with tungsten carbide-tipped blade or fast rotation with a fluted diamond cutting blade. With a jigsaw with tungsten carbide-tipped tooth cutting blade Conventional woodworking equipment can be used but in general wear faster and have lower quality edges. Edge finish: Use a fine emery cloth or sanding block Edges to be sealed as part of the specified architectural finish. No other requirements for edge sealing. Drilling: For holes: carbide tipped twist drill with a 60 nose angle For round apertures: cup drill or circular cutter, carbide-tipped The sheet should be supported around the hole to be drilled (e.g. by a wooden surface). Cutting and drilling must take place in a dry environment. All residual dust must be removed immediately from the sheet with a dry towel to avoid permanent stains. Fixing: For Pacbld Siding applications, nail fixing is recommended for Pacbld Siding boards. Specifications of the nails as well as fixing patterns depend on the application and can be found in the Pacific Build Supply Pacbld Siding Technical Manual or by contacting Pacific Build Supply Ltd directly. Min distance to the edge of the sheet is 20 mm from the top, 100mm at external corners and 50 mm at internal corners to the edges of the sheets. Caulking: Only use products recommended by Pacific Build Supply Ltd. Non-neutral silicones or thiokols can result in staining. Health and safety aspects: While the sheets are being processed, dust will be released which may irritate airways and eyes. It is recommended that a minimum P2 dust mask and safety goggles be worn. Appropriate dust extraction or proper ventilation should be used depending on the room in which the work is being carried out or the equipment being used. Long-term exposure to dust may be harmful to health. 9. Handling The sheets are packed on pallets. They must be kept dry during transport. The sheets must be horizontally stacked on a flat surface. The sheets must always be sufficiently supported so that they do not sag. The sheets must be stored in a dry ventilated space. If the sheets are stored outside, they must always be protected against rain by a tarpaulin or plastic sheet. If the sheets do become wet in the packing, all packaging must be removed and the sheets must be wiped dry and placed in a way that they can dry completely. A sheet must always be lifted from a stack by two people and then be carried on edge. 10. Warranty The warranty and the warranty conditions are available on request from Pacific Build Supply Ltd. Warranties are issued once an accurately completed QA Check sheet is received from the installer at the completion of the job. TE-PR-PS-Product Information

All sections of this check sheet shall be completed during construction. Please ensure that every item is ticked and accurately dated, or marked N/A where not applicable. Refer to the most recent version of the Pacbld Siding Full Manual at all times for completing cladding construction All construction shall comply with the requirements of the NZ Building Code. Upper framing aligning with lower framing Intermediate studs at centre < 600mm IDENTIFY AIR SEAL U.L.S. Wind loading < 1.55 kpa, can be flexible wall underlay. U.L.S. Wind loading > 1.55 kpa, must be 6.0mm or greater Pacbld RWU. U.L.S. Wind Loading outside of NZS3604 requires Specific Engineering Desig Fire rated details required refer to the appropriate data sheet ROOF FLASHING Fit lower roof flashings intersecting with upper framing with upstand behind building wrap & stop ended where necessary. FLEXIBLE WALL UNDERLAY Must be compatible with Table 23, E2/AS1. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Ensure that flexible wall underlay does not bridge the cavity. Install approved flashing tape to openings in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. RIGID WALL UNDERLAY Refer to Pacbld RWU Rigid Wall Underlay Manual and QA Check Sheet. BATTEN & FLASHING Temporarily fix cavity battens as per table 24, E2/AS1. Battens will be fixed permanently by the cladding fixings. SET OUT VERTICAL BATTENS Fix vertical battens at 600mm crs over studs. Fit double batten at corners & openings. Battens not to be continuous through mid floor joist. FIT OFF BASE FLASHINGS HF1 Cavity closure fitted to bottom of battens. Fit horizontal cant strip to bottom of battens. Adjust remaining cover to suit (+/- 3mm) Pre-drill & fix boards 20mm from top with 75x3.15mm SS 600mm cr Overlap boards minimum 30mm. Join boards with a PVC jointer and bed into continuous bead of Pacbld approved sealant. Leave proud, allow to cure 48 hours then trim off. 5.2 FIT WINDOW HEAD FLASHINGS Window flashings to extend 30mm past window frame with 10mm turn up at ends and taped or sealed to flexible wall underlay Complete battening over windows Fit HF1 cavity closure and cant strip. 5.3 COMPLETE FIXING OF WEATHERBOARDS Continue fixing of weatherboards Pre-drill and face nail boards with 75x3.15mm SS nails over cant strips and a window 1200mm crs as necessary and punch ready for painting Fit facings and scribers Install air seals to window trim gaps. 6.0 PAINTING Stop any punched holes, clean down and sand as necessary Apply proprietary acrylic paint system as specified by paint manufacturer. 7.0 MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE Owner made aware of maintenance schedule and undertakes to maintain. 11 Pacbld Sidings Maintenance Procedures 1.0 Pacbld siding Paint Finish All exterior surfaces require an annual clean. - A thorough power wash with a combined cleaning agent designed for maintenance cleaning is recommended at maximum 900p.s.i using 30 litres per minute. - Caustic based preparations should never be used. - Contact the Paint manufacturer for re-coating frequencies and procedures. 2.0 Eterside Cladding An annual inspection of the cladding should be undertaken at the same time as the annual clean. - Check stop end flashings around decks windows and report any adhesion failures of sealants. - Re-apply sealants at any sign of cracking or delamination. - Check parapet flashings and report any damage. Re-apply sealants to parapet flashings at any sign of cracking or delamination. - Visually inspect nail fixing holes and re-apply Eterstop finishing compound to flush stopped screws showing evidence of peaking. - Ensure ventilation and drainage holes above windows, doors and soffit junctions are kept clear. Refer PS.RU Ensure all pipe and penetrations have been sealed as per E2/AS1, Check for tears in building wrap air seal and repair as required. You would have checked the set out is correct and that you finish with your desired proportion sized board beneath the window sill or at the soffit termination. A storey rod/jig is recommended to keep all laps or cover consistent. Fix Pacbld Sidings boards 20mm down from top edge with 75x3.15mm SS max. 600mm crs. Pacbld Sidings boards to over sail bottom plate by 50mm Maintain ground clearances; 35mm clear of finished deck surface. 100mm clear of paved surfaces or 175mm clear of unpaved surfaces. Leave proud, allow to cure and then thin off. Now fit Pacbld Siding external corner soakers before face nailing commences. Pre drill and face nail Pacbld Siding boards over cant strips with 75x3.15mm SS jolt head nails at board ends 1200mm crs as necessary and punch ready for paint. Fill any nail holes with Nuplex Epoxy Furring cream and scrape flush with linbide scraper. Flush off with PAL external contract filler.
