His inventiveness and high expectations of the quality of craftsmanship in his products were the seed from which our present-day company developed. A few growth rings later we now offer comprehensive product systems for floors, walls and ceilings. We are firmly rooted in our market. And we continue to be guided by my father's principles, such as respect for our natural resources - for example at MEISTER we never use tropical woods. And we take care to preserve resources in the processing of the materials. Added to this is the responsibility we feel for the place where we work. MEISTER's production is one hundred percent German. For decades we have been the dependable workplace for many families in our region. And we are investing in the future with apprenticeships and professional development, new production techniques and continuous improvement in our product range. These are yet more reasons why we have grown so consistently and so continuously. Our decades of experience and this special sense of responsibility result in products which combine the highest quality, best comfort levels and a good conscience. 33 Why MEISTER is a real MASTER of wood Innovation Why MEISTER sometimes thinks outside the box. Guido Schulte, Managing Director at MeisterWerke MEISTER's list of innovations is long. Over 200 registered patents and registered designs demonstrate how good we are at coming up with new ideas. We invented the integrated sound-absorbing cushion and thus quiet flooring. The HDF middle layer gives our floors more stability and helps to preserve valuable stocks of real wood. The Masterclic Plus installation technology with patented end locking system makes it possible to carry out simple floating installations of our floors without full surface bonding. All of this has set the standard for the whole sector. But this is not enough for us. Our inventive spirit never sleeps. This, too, is a part of our company's long tradition. Innovation means doing old things in new ways. This is what I demand when developing new products, new systems and new designs. If we want to stay as we are, we have to constantly change. Sometimes a very simple idea is all it takes: for example, we wanted to provide an extra long laminate plank with no repetition in the decor. This is the only way that they can look absolutely genuine and nevertheless be affordable for a large number of customers. With the ordinary print layouts, however, this could not be done. Others may have been satisfied with this. We simply changed from printing lengthways to crossways. Why are we always thinking of something new? Because we have a particularly creative and well-trained team. Because we are never satisfied with the first solution that comes to mind. Because we think outside the box in order to develop new ideas. Because we trust in our own abilities and because we love our products. 33

58 Laminate flooring Product characteristics Top quality through and through. MeisterWerke invented laminate flooring with integrated sound absorbing cushion. This is why our floors not only look good - they are also very quiet. As well as effective sound absorption we have added the AquaSafe system for protection against humidity. The wide range of positive product characteristics means that MEISTER laminate flooring is equally well suited for use in domestic and commercial areas. Another plus point: all floors are suitable for laying on subfloors with controlled hot water underfloor heating. Integrated sound absorption Many MEISTER laminate collections are available with integrated sound absorption in order to reduce as far as possible the noise in the room itself as well as the noise heard in rooms below. We produce a heavy, elastic sound-absorbing cushion in high-quality PUR mineral compound. It reduces noise levels enormously and is also able to even out uneven surfaces. This creates firm, continuous contact with the subfloor and provides additional noise reduction. The sturdy construction of our laminate boards also makes a decisive contribution to sound absorption: the thicker and heavier a board is, the quieter and more muted the sounds of people walking on it are. Antistatic All MEISTER laminate flooring is also equipped with an antistatic layer. This reduces the development of personal static electricity to < 2 kv and protects against discharge on metallic objects, e.g. when touching door handles. It also means that less dirt is attracted to the floor, making cleaning much easier. AquaSafe-System The special waterproofing treatment, the reduced-swell»aquasafe«hdf baseboard and durable joint lock created by the specially developed and patented geometry of the profile are decisive advantages of the AquaSafe system. 62 Laminate flooring Surface finishes Variety is built-in. MEISTER offers one, two or three strip looks which, in combination with selected wood effects and decors, provide great freedom of design. The routed V-bevel, either on the long sides or all the way around the plank, ensures a truly authentic look. 1-strip 1-strip planks give rooms a generous appearance. Their surfaces are inspired by real wood planks. The floor's natural look is emphasised by the play on colours and structures in the wood effects. Depending on the surface, they can look anything from rustic to elegant. 2-strip Striking surfaces such as heartwood ash or acacia are particularly effective in the 2-strip look. They radiate elegance and expansiveness. 3-strip This look is made up of three rows of strips per plank. This is why we use production processes such as synchronous pore printing so that our floors look absolutely realistic - and feel it too. Special pore effect (SP) Textured surfaces give MEISTER laminate floors even greater authenticity - especially with the special pore effect print. Here, the pores and depressions exactly follow the decor image beneath. Pore structure (P) Subtle yet effective: the fine pore structure gives the laminate planks a genuine and lifelike look. This gives the individual wood grains a much more realistic appearance. Wood finish (WF) A deeply textured relief along the grain of the wood image creates the impression of a brushed wood surface. The result: authenticity you can see and feel. Matt pore (MP) Matt surfaces with fine, even structure lend selected wood effects an elegant and refined character. 66

67 Matt-gloss look (MG) Captivatingly beautiful: a silky shimmer in combination with subtle surface structure increases the effect of plain colours and underlines old wood and textile looks. Stone pore (StP) In order to achieve this very special look the surface is given a stone structure that you can see and feel. There is almost no way for the eye to tell it apart from a genuine stone floor. Saw-cut structure (S) For laminate flooring in saw-cut look, we imitate saw cuts which cross the grain. They can be clearly seen and felt and gain additional emphasis from a matt-gloss surface finish. Elegant pore structure (EP) This new development is based on the principle of special pore effect printing. The deep pores are shiny to complement the matt surface. This gives the floor a particularly elegant look. 67

68 Laminate flooring Click system Simple, quick and secure Masterclic Plus. Simple, quick and secure to install - the same applies to all our laminate floors. Click systems guarantee our legendary easy installation and are adapted to each floor s specific requirements and the size of the planks. One example is the patented Masterclic Plus end connection, developed by MEISTER, and the tried and tested Uniclic connection along the length. 1 2 The flooring is lowered right next to the neighbouring plank. After lowering, the flooring is not yet locked at the ends. 3 4 The tongue is only activated when the next row is laid. This results in a secure connection. 68

Masterclic Plus end connection The unique combination of the non-adhesive Masterclic Plus click system: There are no protruding, difficult-to-handle tongues at the ends which could lead to an opening of a joint when lowering the plank. In contrast to the common fold-down laying methods, the ends do not lock in the moment the plank is laid. As soon as the next row of planks is laid, the Masterclic Plus click system is activated and its fixings lock automatically. The specially developed and patented profile geometry with height and side levelling secures the exact end positioning of the planks. This creates a pre-tension which ensures a durable joint lock. When disassembling the flooring, the Masterclic Plus connection can easily be pivoted out.
