The timber is sourced from ecologically managed native forestry. Woods such as spruce, pine or fir are not used due to their soft surface properties. To protect the environment and preserve tropical rainforests, timura uses no tropical timber on principle.

3 A thermal treatment process is employed to refine native hardwoods such as ash into so-called thermo wood that is certified to durability class 1. As a result, the wood acquires positive properties that are comparable with naturally grown tropical wood. For timura s Efficient Line collection, ash is refined using this thermal treatment, and for its Resistant Line, three layers of oak are bonded together in a three-layer sandwich structure. The key benefit of this approach, in terms of quality, is that all three layers are formed from solid, high-quality oak, and they are bonded together using totally non-toxic agents. For example, fluctuations in humidity can result in deformities that create the need for laborious and expensive sanding, unless the solid wood flooring is thermally refined as with Efficient Line parquet.
