HECO-TOPIX-CC screws are screws mae from special carbon steel. Screws mae from carbon steel are harene. They have a corrosion protection accoring to Annex A.2.6. The outer threa iameter is not less than 3.5 mm an not greater than 10.0 mm. The overall length of the screws is ranging from 20 mm to 500 mm. Further imensions are shown in Annex 6. The washers are mae from carbon or stainless steel. The imensions of the washers are given in Annex 6. 2 Specification of the intene use in accorance with the applicable European Assessment Document The performances given in Section 3 are only vali if the HECO screws are use in compliance with the specifications an conitions given in Annex 1 to 5. Durability is only ensure if the specifications of intene use accoring to Annex 1 to 5 are taen into account. The verifications an assessment methos on which this European Technical Assessment is base lea to the assumption of a woring life of the HECO screws of at least 50 years. With regars to the use an the environmental conitions, the national provisions of the place of installation apply. A.1.4 Installation provisions EN in conjunction with the respective national annex applies for the installation. The screws are either riven into the woo-base member mae of softwoo without pre-rilling or in pre-rille holes with a iameter accoring to Table A.1. A minimum of two screws shall be use for connections in loa bearing timber structures. This oes not apply for special situations specifie in National Annexes to EN Only one screw may be use in structural connections when the minimum penetration length of the screw is 20, the screw is only axially loae an the angle between screw axis an grain irection is 15. The loa-bearing capacity of the screw shall be reuce by 50 %. If the screw is use as tensile or compressive reinforcement of timber structures perpenicular to the grain no reuction of the loa-bearing capacity of the screw is require. If screws with an outer threa iameter 8 mm are riven into the woo-base member without pre-rilling, the structural soli or glue laminate timber, laminate veneer lumber an glue soli timber members shall be from spruce, pine or fir. In the case of fastening battens on thermal insulation material on top of rafters the screws shall be riven in the rafter through the battens an the thermal insulation material without pre-rilling in one sequence. Countersun hea screws may be use with washers accoring to Annex 6. After inserting the screw the washers shall touch the surface of the woo-base member completely.
