1 (VMC-1 Vertical Machining Center) Machine Features & Specifications We are delighted to present the VMC-1 Machining Center. This machine comes standard with a 12-umbrella type automatic tool changer, full sheet metal enclosure, BT40 Servo Spindle Motor & Drive, auto lubrication system and GSK 980MDi CNC control and motors and drives. This is a very rigid and well-built mechanical system and able to hold very close tolerances of complex parts. This machine comes standard with a 6,000-rpm spindle. CNC New, Inc. has developed working relationship with GSK and other machine tool manufactures that have provided us access to some of the most affordable and high quality machines available in the market today. The selection of the GSK CNC controls, motors and drives is the same components we use on the machine we have been building and shipping for years. The result is we have available spare parts as well as an excellent understanding of the systems we sell. The machine tool industry has made great improvements over the last several years. Builders use the best available ball screws, linear rails and bearings, which result in reliably accurate and reliable mechanical systems. We also offer box way machines hat are hand scraped in the same process as machines from years past. Along with the huge improvements in the CNC controls, motors and drives along with single source responsibility and built in diagnostics make the task of supporting these new machines much easier than machines built in the past. The modular construction of the components allows us to replace components quickly rather than send a service engineer to the customer s site to do a component replacement. Value added services are also available from CNC New including assistance with the selection of tooling, 4 th -Axis rotary tables and training. The GSK CNC control follows the same programming format as Fanuc, and the control is extremely user friendly. 2 Machine Construction: High Quality Castings & Reinforced Structures The VMC-1 the machine base, table, columns, spindle box, crossbeams are all made of high-grade cast iron. Over the last fifteen years the performance of these systems have been analyzed and designed to provide the most rigid and efficent machine structure possible. The A-type Bridge cross-column with the internal grid like ribs ensure that the Z-Axis will be very strong and allow heavy cutting operations while holding excellent tolerances. The casted components follow a rigorous process utilizing resin sand moldings and aging process to guarantee longterm stability to the entire machine tool structure. Motion Control Components: Linear Rails & Bearings Packs The VMC-1 design incorporates a high performance positioning system featuring high preload, low friction, four circuit, and roller linear bearings. The size of the linear rails range from 35, 45 and or 55 mm width rails depending on the size of the machining center involved. The rating of load of the bearing packs are design to carry is normally 4-times the actual load the machine will be required to support. We have a built in interval lubrication system for the bearing packs improving the life of the machine tool. The selection of the linear rails comes from one of the best manufactures in Taiwan, Hiwin and or optional Japanese THK. Box way machine models available on request. The box way machines have hand scraped bed ways done in the traditional methods used prior to the development of the linear rail technology. Motion Control Components: High Precision Ball Screws The VMC-1 Machining center is using P3 grade accuracy ball screws that are precision ground and manufactured by two of the best manufactures in Taiwan Hiwin and PMI. The design is the inner loop double nut preload large lead screw with a flexible coupling connected directly to the servo motor that eliminates any back lash and ensures positioning accuracy and synchronization with the machine tool. An auto lubrication system is connected directly to the ball screw bearing supports. The ball screws on all axis, X, Y and Z are all anchored at both ends of the screw. The machine has fully enclosed way covers to maximize protection from chips and other contamination. High-Speed Spindles: Rigid Design Spindle Housings (Optional RPM) The VMC-1 Machining center is using BT40 spindle with 6,000 rpm. The manufactures of these spindles are Posa, Royal and Spintech all very high quality manufactures of spindles from Taiwan. The bearings used with these spindles are NSK from Japan or FAG bearing made in Germany. Option spindle of 8,000, 10,000 and 12,000 rpm are available upon request. The spindle is the heart of a CNC machine tool, and the quality and construction of today s spindles is much improved from earlier CNC machine tool systems. 2

3 Automatic Tool Changers: (ATC) Umbrella Type The VMC-1 Machining center is using BT40 spindle with a 12-station umbrella or drum type tool changer. The selection of Taiwan s professional manufactures for the selection of tool changers guarantees that the system will have had millions of hours of testing and that the tool change accuracy will meet the reliability requirements to provide years of reliable service. Higher capacity tool changers and CT40 tapper tools available on request. The larger models of machining centers have the option for a ARM type tool changer to reduce chip-to-chip times. Engineering: Sheet Metal Enclosure, Way Covers, Lubrication The VMC-1 Machining Center captures the most modern features to protect and preserve the CNC machines. The machine has a full sheet metal enclosure and built in coolant tanks to chip the shop floor clean and dry. The way covers are well fitted and protect the motion control components ball screws and linear rails from chips and other contaminants. Automatic lubrication system and pump provide interval lubrication of all the motion control components. Toolbox with hand tools included. GSK 980MDi CNC Controls 3

4 GSK 980MDi CNC Control: GSK is the second largest CNC control builder in the world based on annual units built and sold. They are producing as many as 500 CNC systems per week that includes CNC controls, servo motors and drives. GSK CNC controls are not developed on a PC software/hardware, but are a hardened CNC with the software built directly into the hardware providing maximum reliabilty. The modelular design of the products allow quick replacment of major components if or when required. GSK provide complete CNC systems which includes all required motors, drives, cables, and controls. Each control we purchase has the available axis and the PLC lodgic for us to produce our sophicated machine systems. The NEW 980MDi CNC control with updated software/hardware is a very aggressive full-featured control with 2ms block processing and programs with G-codes and M-functions. This control uses the GSKLINK bus technology, matched with 17bit absolute encoders (no home or limit switches) that carry out automatic recovery of the system power-on noblock mechanical zero return, servo parameter on-line modification or servo state on-line diagnosis, etc. We are using a servomotor and drive on the machines main spindle motor with wide option of horse power available. We have available post processors in Fusion 360 for the GSK CNC controls.
