2 Proven Milling Machine with innovative operating concept and new feed technology The Servomill represents a new generation of conventionally operated milling machines that feature modern elements from CNC technology. This new concept allows easy handling, high precision and increased machining power as well as increased reliability and less maintenance and wear. In the Servomill design, the classic elements of conventional lathes have been substituted with components that are typical for high-quality CNC milling machines: The feed is controlled via preloaded ball screws on all axes, which are driven by a servo motor. Mechanical gears were eliminated. High-resolution encoders at each hand-wheel DESCRIPTION transmit all movements to a microcontroller which outputs the feed increments to the motor booster with micrometer accuracy. The spindle speed is displayed on an easy to read LED monitor directly at the spindle head. A solid helical gear ensures exact cutter head angle adjustments up to ± 90. DESCRIPTION Limit stops are set comfortably with highest accuracy electronically by the push of a button. Labor-intensive setting of mechanical fixed stops and the limited accuracy of mechanical clutches are eliminated. You can set 3 x 3 limit stop positions and enable them via a level switch. Longer positioning motions of the work table can be comfortably performed for all axes via a practical joystick. Feed can be kept continuously at a constant ratio to the variable main spindle speed in order to maintain a constant feed per tooth. This function simplifies optimization of the ongoing milling process, which saves time and money. A spindle load display for the main spindle drive allows the user to fully utilize the available machine power without risking an overload. The Servomill is operated the same way as conventional milling machines. The work table is moved via hand-wheels, which are mounted at the same locations as their predecessor mechanical hand-wheels. This ensures an intuitive and correct operation. The electronic hand-wheels can be used by the operator for micro-adjustments of 5 mm per 1 mm hand-wheel rotation. Automatic feed is controlled via a joystick switch on the control panel one for X, one for Y and one for Z. The feed speed is regulated via a central infinitely variable rotary switch. The operation is amazingly simple, since all switches and levers will set only electronic contacts.
