DTT2Z Deck Tension Tie ncreasing reports of deck failures across the country have led to a greater focus on deck safety in the building codes. Two areas of concern are the guardrail-post connection and the lateral deck-to-house connection because they are key to the performance of the deck and the safety of the occupants. Simpson Strong-Tie has a new solution to make both of these deck connections stronger and safer: the OTT2Z deck tension tie. The OTT2Z was designed to satisfy code requirements for guardrail-post connections in wood decks. t also meets new RC requirements for laterally attaching the deck to the house and meets provisions of the AF&PA Prescriptive Resid~ntial Wood Oeck Construction Guide (OCA6). For deck-to-house attachment, use W' diameter threaded rod to connect the two OTT2Zs.
