1 2014 The year was 1974, the place was Bolton Ct., the gentleman was Roger Barrett, Sr. The idea was to start a company that would begin to save some of our vanishing landscape and promote a more sustainable lifestyle, he called it Country Carpenters. After many years researching, designing and building New England style barns and carriage sheds in the local area he decided to design and offer pre-cut kits for others to build too. Fast forward 40 years and it s 2014, the place is Hebron Ct., the gentleman is Roger Barrett, Jr., continuing his father s legacy here at Country Carpenters Inc. by providing Fine New England style post and beam barns, cabins and carriage sheds. Our engineer stamped plans make it easy to apply for your building permits, our stamped and graded eastern white pine timbers and pre-cut color coded frame combined with our construction diagrams gives you a beautiful building that fits into and enhances the landscape it sits on. One of our latest projects we have been working on for our 40 th anniversary is a promotion with Yankee magazine called the Great Yankee Giveaway. We will be giving away some great items four times throughout the year. Follow us on FaceBook for your chance to win. Also for 2014, we are working with Matthew Troy, a local filmmaker and cinematographer, on a television commercial to be aired in early summer. We are very fortunate to have Matthew producing this project and he has begun to provide us with some small video clips that we have been adding to our website as they come in. Keep your eyes open for us on TV soon. Another project in the works is with an author who has published many books through Schiffer Publishing Ltd. In 2010 we were featured in her book Barn Again and now are working with her on a two volume book she is writing on a varity of barn and shed styles. The truck arrived Friday afternoon and the entire barn was set down in bundles perfectly placed for the big event.

The main frame was up and we were filling in the secondary framing way before noon! In order to keep it authentic, straw hats and overalls were the preferred attire.

2 To all at Country Carpenters who made our day! I wanted to build a timber framed barn on our property in Rhode Island. After talking to Leslie for just a few minutes I knew a Country Carpenters barn was the perfect choice. With some planning we were able to put together a barn raising on Saturday, June 16, The truck arrived Friday afternoon and the entire barn was set down in bundles perfectly placed for the big event. The guys on the truck took the time to go through some of the steps and even helped lay out the first bent. At 7 a.m. twenty five or so friends and neighbors arrived and we got organized and busy. The main frame was up and we were filling in the secondary framing way before noon! In order to keep it authentic, straw hats and overalls were the preferred attire. The commanders (wooden mallets) were made from storm casualties and very helpful when persuading the timbers to their homes. The band arrived at five. With the loft deck complete and roof rafters up, the hammers were laid down and the roast pig was ready. I have to hand it to you, the day was perfect, as was the frame, on the money perfect! The materials were delivered pristine and it went together like a dream. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Oh and I am not a builder, I'm a dentist! Thank You, Scott and Laura, Evan Eric Haley
