1 Hi friends If you re like us, I m sure the thought of a spring day with a warm breeze sounds pretty good about now. Seed catalogs are replacing those winter sales flyers that have been filling our mail boxes for the last couple months. I m sure our ancestors were not much different than us when it came to anticipating spring. There is always something special about seeing the buds popping out on the trees around this beautiful New England countryside of ours. We can learn a lot from our forefathers about how to live life. Their lives could be referred to as a life of sustainable living. They could get their arms around life and what was important. There is a satisfaction in doing something with your own two hands that gives true fulfillment, but nowadays it seems the art of doing things by and for yourself is getting lost. If we try we can still recapture some of that sustainable life philosophy in our daily lives. It could be as simple as washing your own car or rearranging your furniture or as complex as growing your own vegetables and farming the land. The key is to take time to unplug yourself once and awhile from the busyness of the world and spend time recapturing the philosophy of our forefathers. Their faith, along with living life on a human scale, provided great satisfaction for them and still can for us today. 36 years ago Country Carpenters was founded in that same sustainable life philosophy. Rooted in a love for early New England architecture, we have been family owned and operated for two generations, building structures in harmony with the countryside. One of the things that sets us apart in the barn industry today, is that we still hand craft our barns, doors, windows, cupolas and hand forged hinges with many of the same tools used hundreds of years ago. In the last 36 years, thousands of barns have been cut and shipped to 38 states, Canada, and even overseas from our mill in Bolton, and now, in Hebron Ct. We not only thank our past customers for their support but also our ancestors for setting an example for our generation of a strong work ethic combined with finding satisfaction working with their hands. 2 Dear Country Carpenters, We are so very pleased with every aspect of the building. From the planning to the final touches you were with us all the way. Bob and Matt are not professional carpenters but with the help of our many friends we finished the building in about ten weeks working weekends and a few vacation days. The plans were easy to work with and right on the money for measurements. The barn stores our carriage collection, our harness room, my weaving room and lots of extra space for the workshop. We have used the barn as a sculpting studio recently (there was an article in the Hartford Courant with lots of interior pictures) where one of our horses posed and the artists could effortlessly move around the animal to see every detail. In fact, we are repeating the workshop later this fall. The barn is the realization of a lifetime dream to house all our carriages, harness, haying equipment all in one space. We have even added stalls for a pair of horses so we can wash them up the night before a ride. It's really been wonderful. Thank you for a wonderful building experience. Are they registered with the Better Business Bureau? Is the building engineered to IRC code? What is the quality of material being provided?
