2 Playhouse Loft revised 9/6/05 Assembly Manual Dear Customer, Thank you for your purchase of our Playhouse Loft. The craftsmanship and detail in this product is unmatched. This manual is designed to simplify the assembly process, however we strongly recommend having a carpenter involved in the project. Please read through the entire manual before starting!! It took 2 men, 3 hours, using the tools listed below, to assemble this playhouse. However, it will probably take you a little longer since it will be a new project for you. Take a deep breath and get at it, the satisfaction and enjoyment of this building is only a few hours away. Have Fun!!!!! Remember, it is very important that you have a level site for your Playhouse Loft, and that the floor is level prior to setting the walls. You have purchased a product that consists of heavy, bulky pieces. With your purchase, you assume full responsibility to have the necessary manpower and/or equipment available to unload the items. You also agree that any damage that happens to the equipment, product, or individuals during the unloading process, or during the entire construction process, is your responsibility, and neither the seller, nor the manufacturer, will be held liable for any such damage. TOOLS NEEDED: -7/16,1/2,9/16, and 3/4 deep sockets with 1/2 drive -3/4 wrench -Hammer -Medium vise grip pliers -#2 phillips and square drive screwdrivers or bits -Screw gun -Paint brushes (for touch-up) -utility knife -eight foot step ladder -2ft level -square HELPFUL TOOLS: -Impact wrench with 1/2 drive -Finish nail gun -Roof nailer -Air compressor

3 Step 1 This is a Pinnacle playhouse kit packaged in shrink wrap as it is shipped to our customers. Step 2 Open up kit, and lay out all of the parts in the kit. Match similar parts together. Step 3 Measure and level site where you plan to build playscape. Step 4 Lay out the 6 x10 base on leveled ground area where structure will sit. On standard units the front middle posts is to the left side of center. Step 5 Make sure base is level. Step 6 Place floor on top of base, making sure post holes are lined up. Make sure 5/8 holes line up vertically with holes in floor, these are the attachment holes for the 4x4 posts. Step 7 Insert two front corner 4x4 posts ( 90 1/2 long) with recessed holes facing towards the back. Step 8 Lift front of floor and insert 1/2 X 5 carriage bolts through top 5/8 holes in floor into top 5/8 holes in the posts. We recommend at least two individuals to assemble our playsets. Note: Be sure to place bottom of front posts inside front corner of base.

4 Step 9 Place two 1/2 x 5 carriage bolts through each 5/8 holes at the front corners of the floor. Step 10 Place 1/2 I.D. washer, 1/2 locknut, then 1/2 nut on bolts inside recessed holes in back of corner posts. Tighten nuts until they are snug. Make sure not to over tighten. Step 11 Place bottom of front posts inside front corner of base. Step 12 Lift back of floor and place 1/2 x 5 carriage bolts through floor, into top holes of 54 1/2 posts. Make sure recessed holes are facing front. Step 13 This shows two 1/2 x 5 carriage bolts through floor into posts. Place two 1/2 x 5 bolts through base into bottom holes in posts. Step 14 Insert the rest of the 90 1/2 posts through holes in the floor. Face recessed holes in posts towards center of the set. Step 15 Install 1/2 x 5 bolts through 5/8 holes in floor into the 4x4 posts. Install 1/2 washers, locknuts, and nuts on all 1/2 x 5 bolts. Tighten nuts at the top of corner posts. Step 16 Check corners with square. If corners are not square adjust floor to square up corners. When corners are square, tighten all the nuts at each post.

5 Step 17 Install two 17 4x4 braces up against the bottom of the floor and squarely against the post in each corner with one 3/8 x 4 lag and 3/8 washer at bottom. Step 18 Braces should be installed at the inside corners of the four corner 4x4 posts (two at each corner). Step 19 Braces are secured at the top with #10 x 3 1/2 deck screws. The screws should be placed at 1 1/2 and 3 vertically above the location where the brace and the floor meet. Step 20 Position the ladder, in the front right side opening. The top ladder rung will line up with the top of floor. Step 21 Secure ladder in place with 3/8 x 4 lags and washer through top holes of ladder into 4x4 posts. Step 22 Position back wall of Playhouse onto the back of floor. Outside plywood fits down 3 over edge of floor. Step 23 Position the end stud of wall in 2 1/2 from sides of the floor. Secure wall to floor with four #10x3 1/2 screws.(side walls are interchangeable) Step 24 Position side wall in place against rear wall. Secure wall to floor with four #10x3 1/2 screws. Step 25 Secure corners together with three #10 x 3 1/2 screws.

6 Step 26 Install the front wall by securing the corners first. After both sidewalls in place secure front wall to floor. Step 27 Position the remaining side wall. Make sure each corner fits tight Step 28 Secure each wall with four screws to the floor. Step 29 Secure corners with three screws in each corner. Step 30 When securing front wall to floor place screws at 18 and 36 from inside of side wall. Line up front wall with the grooves in the floor. Step 31 Secure front wall on both sides of door. Make sure to check underneath floor and remove any screws or nails that did not hit a floor joist. Step 32 Using ladder, position roof panel into place.

7 Step 33 The top of the roof panels will line up at the peak of the end walls. The bottom of rafters fit against the top of the side walls. Step 34 Install second roof panel and make sure it fits tightly. Step 35 Secure roof panels with three #10 x 3 1/2 screws, driving them through front and back rafters in roof panels into front and rear gables. Note: If you have purchased a cedar roof upgrade, install using above steps. Be sure to overlap longer roof section over shorter roof section. Step 36 Lay out pieces of trim. Step 37 After roof panels are properly secured install four pieces of peak trim to front and rear walls with finish nails. Then fasten the two pieces of soffit trim next making sure the corners fit tight.

8 Step 38 Install the four corner trims. The two front pieces are notched out to accommodate the floor. Step 39 The peak shingles are installed starting from the back and should overlap one another so that the tar strip is covered and will seal the next piece. Finish with a piece cut in half and secure with roofing nails. Step 40 Install door handle with three screws that are provided. Step 41 Place the fences in the proper openings, according to their size. Standard playhouses have two pieces of 32 3/4 fences. Step 42 Secure with three # 8x2 screws to each post. Step 43 Install hand grips at top of each ladder post about one inch from top. Step 44 Center slide in opening.

9 Step 45 Attach with three 5/16 x 1 1/4 lags and washer, that are provided. Step 46 The Super Scoop slide requires 7 1/2 feet of ground in front of the unit. Congratulations! We hope you and your children enjoy this play set for many years!

10 I n s t r u c t i o n s f o r p a i n t t o u c h u p o n a P i n n a c l e P l a y s e t A major benefit of purchasing a painted playset is that damage to the set via a pocket knife, etc. can be rectified with caulk and touch up paint. This also applies to the splitting and checking found in all outdoor wood products made from cedar, redwood, pine, etc. The splits seen in larger dimensional lumber are also known as checks and are more of a cosmetic concern than a structural concern. These generally occur in large lumber such as 4x4 s and 4x6 s. We have constructed this manual to assist you in repairing damages, general touch up associated with a painted set, and in filling checks that are less than 1/4 wide. Tools Needed - Paint scraper or putty knife - Touch-up paint - Sanding pad with 80 grit sandpaper - Paintbrush or small roller - Caulking gun with tube of acrylic latex caulk (fast drying non shrinking formulas work best)

11 Step 1: After cleaning the surface, slowly apply caulking into the check of the wood from one end to the other. The caulking should penetrate into the check and fill it up leaving little excess on the outside of the wood. Step 2: Remove excess caulking from wood with putty knife or scraper leaving a smooth surface over the check... Step 2 cont... leaving minimal excess caulk. Step 3: Allow caulking to dry according to manufacturers recommendation. If the repaired surface of the caulking seems to have shrunk into the check, apply a second coat of caulk and allow time to dry. Step 4: When caulking has dried, sand surface lightly with sanding pad to remove excess caulk. The acrylic latex paint we use tends to stay soft and pliable. Sand with light quick strokes, being careful not to remove original coat of paint. Step 5: When applying touch-up paint to wood, apply a thick coat of paint to cover area, smooth out with brush or roller and allow time to dry (generally less than 6 hours). The touch-up paint will work as a primer and a topcoat. Apply a second coat of paint after the first coat has dried. The second coat of paint is essential to provide long lasting protection and restore the repaired area to the same luster as the original paint.
