1 INSTRUCTIONS FOR ATTACHING SUPERLITE SL27 / 37 / 47 / 57/37SS / 77 / 17K / 17C RUBBER YOKES ( Art No ) TO HELMET RING ASSEMBLY These instructions are to be used as a basic guide for attaching a Viking rubber yoke to the above Kirby Morgan helmets. Before commencing, ensure that you have suitable tools available such as a cross headed screwdiver for the rear strap screws, and a suitable tool to remove and refit the ring screws ( ). These instructions are by no means complete in detail. If in doubt, please contact Kirby Morgan Dive Systems for advice. N.B. The original hexagon head socket cap screws which are factory fitted, and hold the neoprene neck dam into the neck ring, are generally too short and difficult to use when attaching a rubber yoke. Kirby Morgan can supply a set of 28-9/16 screws, art. No and these are highly recommended for this job. 1. SL 37 Helmet. 2. SL37 Helmet with original neoprene neck dam STEP 1. Remove neck ring from helmet with original neoprene neck dam by pulling the two spring loaded pull pins forward, this releases the neck dam swing catch which holds the neck dam ring assembly in place in the helmet. Pull the webbing strap towards you to release the neck ring which

2 is sealed in place by an O ring around the edge. 3. Neck Ring removed from helmet. 4. Remove pull strap screws first. STEP 2. Remove pull strap cross headed screws first, and remove strap and holding plate. Then remove all of the hexagon headed socket cap screws.( See note above about replacement screw length.) Remove and discard the neoprene neck dam.

3 5. Lower neck ring, upper split neck ring 6. SL27 rubber yoke attached to suit. Note Neoprene neck dam & O Ring pointed end to front of suit. STEP 3. Put solid bottom neck ring over the rubber yoke so, that it forms the bottom part of the assembly, making sure that the screws can be inserted from underneath, up through the yoke. Insert the 2 split rings in between the upper part of the yoke and the folded rubber lip which helps to hold the rings in place while fitting the screws. You will see that holes have already been punched through the rubber yoke, but it takes some skill and practice to line up these holes with the holes in the upper and lower helmet neck rings. 7. Lower and upper rings in place in yoke. 8. Insert screws loosely at first. STEP 4. Re attach the pull strap and metal plate first with the cross headed screws. Do not tighten. Insert new longer screws loosely so that you can align each screw hole with the holes in the yoke. This is a fiddly job requiring lots of patience. Once all screws have been inserted, then tighten completely moving from side to side, and end to end. Do not tighten successive screws or you will most likely end up with the rubber yoke not laying flat.

4 9. Cut away rubber fold over 10. Trim excess right back to ring edge. STEP 5. Trim away the rubber fold over which helped hold the upper rings in place. Make sure that you trim back the rubber as close to the edge of the rings as possible, otherwise you will have trouble re-inserting the neck ring assembly back into the helmet.

5 11. Insert O ring back into helmet ring groove 12. Insert neck ring assembly back into helmet STEP 6. Once all of the excess yoke material has been trimmed away, reinsert the rubber O ring back into the neck ring groove, use some silicon grease sparingly. Insert the neck ring into the helmet with the pull strap hanging down. Swing the locking collar back in to place, and allow the locking pins to click back into the collar. Once you are happy that everything fits properly into place, you can remove the helmet until it is time to carry out a dive. WARNING It is recommended that you attach the helmet to the collar and suit, and immerse in shallow water BEFORE carrying out a dive after fitting the yoke to ensure the system is completely water tight.
