3 Date: ) Industry: Rolex Rolled Rings. Location: Gondal Road, Village Kotharia, Rajkot, Gujarat Products: Forged/machined inner and outer rings of bearings like ball bearings, tapered, cylindrical, spherical, railway bearings, components, spacers etc., customized to the client's requirements. Company has 75% production for international market and 25% for domestic market of total production with annual turnover around 500 cr. and the no. of employees working are around Operations : Furnace Area: 1) Heat Treatment: Rotary hearth furnace. Capacity: 300kg/hour/furnace. Continuous Cast link furnace for hardening and tempering with SCADA Level-II. Capacity: 300kgs/hour/furnace. Total no. of furnace one. Sealed Quench furnaces for case carburizing with SCADA Level-II. Capacity: 1 ton/day/furnace. Continuous pusher type spheroid annealing furnace with SCADA Level-II. Continuous pusher type Isothermal annealing furnace with SCADA Level-II. 2). Forging The long rod are taken for performing various operations like forging and annealing at a temperature of 1147 C in furnace. Piercing and separation process takes place and rings of two diameters are obtained. The out coming hot rings are tested on certain gaps with the help of vernier calipers. These rings are collected in lots and taken for further processes. 3). Normalizing These rings are loaded in a continuous normalizing furnace operating at a temperature of 900 centigrade having a capacity of 250kg/hr. Blowers are used at the output end of this furnace Mechanical Engineering Department Page 3

4 whenever require. Minimum size of 50 mm are used in this furnace. The normalized rings are collected in lots. Laboratory Inspection: Normalized rings are tested in laboratory to check whether these rings satisfy the required hardness like Brinell Hardness, Rockwell Hardness and other various properties using spectrometer. These are then separated in various lots for manufacturing of various types of rings as per the requirement and demand Cold Rolling shop After inspection the rings to be utilized as ball bearings are separated and taken for cold rolling shop. A Japan made machine is used for preparing inner and outer groove on these rings. Cold rolling process in undertaken for rings which are to be used as ball bearings. CNC machine shop Machining: The separated rings after inspection are taken to CNC shop for manufacturing other rings on CNC machines. A master piece ring is kept for periodic inspection of these output rings. Computerized numerical control taken commands and performs all the operations automatically. These operations are similar to the operations that can be performed on lathe machine. Packaging Department Packaging: The final obtained product is taken to packing department where the product are counted and packed in large wooden boxes. Products: Medium Duty Lathe Machine, Heavy Duty Lathe Machine, Extra Heavy Duty Lathe Machine, Super Extra Heavy Duty Lathe Machine, All Geared Extra Heavy Duty Lathe Machine, Bench Lathe Machine, Medium All Geared Lathe Machine Optional Accessories Of The Industry Are:-Coolant pump and tank, Taper turning attachment, Faceplate, Three way stopper, Revolving centre, Drill chuck, Boring bar Operations: Casting, Facing, Boring, Assembling of Lathe and CNC, Alignment of Tailstock and Dead stock, Assembling of gears etc. Casted parts of bed, tailstock and head stock are loaded on lathe and operations like facing and boring are carried on it. The bed of lathe is loaded on planer machine for accurate and quality surface finish. The tailstock is attached to lathe by use of fixtures and the headstock is balanced by using additional weights to prevent the vibration and unbalanced couple. The resin sand is used for making core which has been heated and which is then injected through shell core shooter into the punch and impacted onto the die with pressure, then it solidifies and core has been made in core making machine. 15 Foundry Shop Graded quality casting is produced with mechanized fast loop molding technique supplied by omega, U.K. Casting is also produced with resin bonded 2 part Molding System For melting Jyoti has installed 3 tones capacity induction furnace Foundry is also supported by the latest chemical and physical testing facility Sheet metal bending Sheet Metal is equipped with very precise versatile machinery producing precision sheet and metal components. The most modern first of its kind in India is the sheet metal plant of Jyoti having following facilities:- Trump F machine of Germany having laser cutting technology Trump F CNC press brake / Bending machine Along with Robotic Welding facility Mechanical Engineering Department Page 15

coating and converized by the baking Coating booths. There are 4 powder coating booths in line of different colors.

16 The Sheet metal is CED primer coated and finished with automated powder coating line and painting line. Paint Shop Jyoti has established its own paint shop which is fully automated and it comprises of 7 tanks pre treatment process followed by CED primer coating and converized by the baking Coating booths. 17 Sub-assembly Parts coming from the paint shop are firstly goes to the sub-assembly shop where particular elements which is useful in CNC machine is assemebled firstly. 19 Conclusion As Students visited and looked at all the operations, Processes of Jyoti CNC Automation ltd., They understood and saw practically operations like forging, sheet metal bending, painting, subassembly, assembly, and get an actual idea what he had learned in their theoretical subjects. They also came to know about 5S system of company. In Rolex Rolled Rings they looked forging operation lively, material testing operations in material testing laboratory, operations on CNC machine. They saw how the inner and outer rings of bearing made in this industry. In Turnmax Machine Tools they looked the different machining operations on lathe and grinder to make the CNC centers. They saw manufacturing of Lathe machine in New Dilip industries and understtod the different processes like assembly of gears, alignment of tailstock and dead stock, casting etc. In G.S. Industries they saw the live casting and came to know the actual concept of how the casting has been made what they have learned in theoretical subjects like Manufacturing Process-I &II and Production technology. It is pleasure that Jyoti CNC Automation Ltd., Rolex Rolled Rings, New Dilip Industries and G,S.Industries has open the door for Industrial Training of students of GDEC, Navsari for anytime and Industry-Institution relation has been developed. If the performance of the students will be satisfactory during training period they will likely to give a chance to place the students of their esteemed industries.
