An interesting lot with 100s of classic stamps (many 100s) 1,200-1, A Large Hermes specialised study collection in a binder with an enormous cat value. The collector has arranged the collection by printing and quoted SG numbers. Assuming the identification is correct, the cat values quoted are very low and in many cases double as per SG 2009 edition. The collection includes many varieties, errors and also some covers including combinations, also a postmark range. The quality throughout is generally mixed although these are undoubtedly many very fine to superb examples of mint, unused and used as the collector has obtained some lovely copies. We note 1861 Paris printing 1L (4 unused, 6 used), 20L proof doubly printed front and back, 80L unused and many used, 10L with inverted I used, First Athens course and fine printings, with page of mint 1L vals, second Athens 1L unused with large flaw under bust, then a good seln of later printings in the hundreds with shades, inverted numbers, several blocks of 4, strips and so much more. This could easily form the basis of an exhibition collection, cat value in the region of 75,000 or more (see photos) (many 100 s) 4,000-6, A the unused or mint specialised collection of Large and Small Hermes issues neatly arranged in an album from 1861 Paris printing onwards including shades, varieties, proofs, some multiples incl strips and blocks, many different perf types on the perforated issues, also varieties such as a fine double surcharge on the L on 40L bright mauve. The collection is annotated with Yvert numbers and undoubtedly huge cat value, margins on the imperfs are mixed but with fine 4 margined examples evident, and generally fresh colours throughout.
