18 Which was against the rules. It made the children laugh and play, Laugh and play, laugh and play, It made the children laugh and play To see a lamb at school And so the teacher turned it out, Turned it out, turned it out, And so the teacher turned it out, But still it lingered near And waited patiently about, Patiently about, patiently about, And waited patiently about Till Mary did appear "Why does the lamb love Mary so?" Love Mary so? Love Mary so? "Why does the lamb love Mary so?" The eager children cry "Why, Mary loves the lamb, you know." Should auld acquaintance be forgot, Keep your eye on the grand old flag Page 27
28 As an added measure send the Poppy craft to soldiers overseas with a picture of the child in the center of the poppy. Jellyfish Paper Plate Craft These jellyfish crafts are so adorable and the kids have a real blast making them. Watch out though, they ll want to make a school of them! We cut strips of clear cellophane wrapping paper for the tentacles and then twisted them a little bit. Really cute! Supplies: 1 paper plate 1 8 x11 paper Scissors, glue, crayons, markers, glitter, or any other decorative item. Instructions: 1. Cut paper plate in half. 2. Tell them that a jellyfish moves itself easily through the ocean by shooting water from its bell shaped body. Have the children hang their arms way down and move them from side to side and ask them to move through the water like a jellyfish would by wiggling their arms and pretending to shoot water. 2. The body and tentacles are made up of gelatin type material and that is how it got its name. If desired, make some jello and have the kids watch it jiggle. Read the story, The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister to the class. The idea behind the book is: The rainbow fish realized that giving of itself is better than being praised for its beauty. Ask the kids what they have done or can do to be nice to their friends and then ask them how it made them feel. Page 29
