YEARS This year marks a major EST.1968 milestone for Wild Wings as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our founding as America s premier publisher of nature-themed art. The inspiration for Wild Wings came on an upland bird outing in Northern Minnesota when Wild Wings founder, an experienced photographer and printer, and two talented wildlife artists enjoyed a conversation around the campfire. The artists were concerned that their artistic creations were only available as original works of art which meant few people would ever have an opportunity to see them. Why not publish high-quality prints to make their art more accessible to a broad audience? That conversation was the inspiration for Wild Wings which was founded in 1968 and has served as America s leading publisher of nature-themed art ever since. We are especially proud that artist David Maass, who made that historic trip 50 years ago, continues to be represented by Wild Wings today. His newest release, Wild Wings on the Upper Mississippi, was specially-created to commemorate our anniversary and serves as a fitting preface to this catalog. If you look closely you will find that Dave paid tribute to our 50-year association by incorporating the Wild Wings logo he designed in 1968 into his newest work of art!
