1 VIDYA BHARATI SCHOOL VACATION ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME ` GRADE-1V ( ) NAME: CLASS: Dear Parent(s), Exciting time is here again! It s time for Summer Vacation and fun filled activities. Children are reservoirs of potential which needs to be tapped and channelized in diverse ways. We at VBS feel that it is very important to fire their imagination and foster an outlook that helps them explore, discover and rediscover. Summer Vacation is the best and fruitful time for learning and for nurturing creativity. A few suggestions that you may keep in mind- Spend quality time with your children. Take them out to outings and have fun time together. Help your children to become independent by giving them responsibilities. Inculcate in them good manners, healthy habits and respect for elders. Inculcate the feelings of empathy, affection and tolerance in your children. Converse with your children in English. Encourage your children to read books to enhance their language skills. Kindly ensure that the holiday home work is completed by the students with the guidance of the parents.
2 ENGLISH We are giving you some interesting activities and assignments that you can do during your vacation and bring back to school on the first of July. We know that you love reading story books. So enjoy reading story books during the vacation and do the activities given below- The story of Cinderella is one of the most well-known fairy tales with hundreds of versions being told all over the world. All children enjoy reading this book and it is still considered one of the most favourite fairy tale in the world. We suggest that you read this fairy tale again during your holidays.after reading the story of Cinderella- Design a cover page of the story book.(use your creativity to make the cover page visually appealing) Write the summary of the story in your own words in an A-4 size sheet. Search at least 50 new words from the story and write their meanings in A-4 size sheets. Visit any one of the following places with your family: Zoo Art Gallery Old Age Home Planetarium Children s park
3 Write 6-8 sentences on what you saw there and draw a related picture on an A-4 size sheet. You can also click photographs of your visit with your family and stick them alongside to make it more interesting. Have fun learning these tongue twisters during your holidays and organize tongue twister races with your friends and cousins. You may speak loudly, softly, quickly or slowly. You must try and create at least two tongue twisters with the help of your family members during your holidays and write them in your scrap book. Black bug bit a big black bear. But where is the big black bear that the big black bug bit? A big bug bit the little beetle but the little beetle bit the big bug back. If you understand, say "understand". If you don't understand, say "don't understand". But if you understand and say "don't understand". How do I understand that you understand? Understand! I thought, I thought of thinking of thanking you. I wish to wish the wish you wish to wish, but if you wish the wish the witch wishes, I won't wish the wish you wish to wish. Sounding by sound is a sound method of sounding sounds. Have fun!
