Each book is an adventure in itself and teaches you a little bit of Japanese culture leading the reader from the real life of a Samurai to that of a ninja. Fast paced - well worth reading. This funny, tender, uplifting and at times, angry book will have wide appeal. A novel that can be read in a few days but stays with you forever. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness One night 13 year old Conor wakes from his nightmare to find a monster at his window. He isn't scared, since his mother started her cancer treatments he's had other things to worry about. Anyway, monsters aren't real, monsters are for babies. But this monster wants the truth. A beautifully written and illustrated novel - highly recommended. Wonder by R.J. Palacio In Wonder, heartstrings are well and truly yanked by the tale of little August Pullman. The book works, because the hero, known as Auggie, is such a marvellous character. He's smart, funny and courageous. What marks him out is a terrible facial abnormality, caused by a mutant gene, which has resulted in him having 27 operations. This book wreaks emotional havoc. Fantasy Eragon by Chris Paolini Wonderful fantasy novel. In book one the main character begins a quest to fulfil his destiny as a dragon rider.one boy one dragon.. a world of adventure awaits!
