1 Document No. A6V BT300 VFD FS8 and FS9 Bypass Option EMC Filter Package Product Description The EMC Filter cleans the three-phase power input to a BT300 VFD Bypass Option. If not installed and used in accordance with the instructions manual, may cause interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area may cause interference. At their own expense, users will be required to take whatever measures to correct the interference. Main short circuit protection and disconnect by others. Branch circuit protection to be provided by installer per UL508A, if not provided with drive. NOTE: Bypass with EMC Filter package has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital devices, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against such interference when operated in a commercial environment. Prerequisites Check for shipping damage. In the event of damage, contact the transport company. The Bypass Option must be previously installed. FS8 EMC Kit Installation Table 1. FS8 Parts List. Install the BT300-E8-RFx EMC filter (Item 1) using the existing holes and provided hardware (Items 2 through 4). 3. Connect the leads from the LOAD side of the filter to CB or DISC. 4. Reconnect the incoming line input leads to the LINE side of the RFI filter. Page 1 of 5

Disconnect the incoming line input leads from CB or DISC. b. Install the BT300-E9-RF1 EMC filter (Item 1) using the existing holes and provided hardware (Items 2 through 4). c. Connect the leads from the LOAD side of the filter to CB or DISC. d. Pass the line power input leads through two BT300-E9-FC1 ferrite cores (Item 5) and reconnect the leads to the LINE side of the RFI filter. NOTE: DO NOT pass the GND wire through the ferrites. Secure the ferrite cores using the supplied nylon wire ties (Item 9) as close to the cable s exit point as possible. 2. Connect motor power cabling: a. Disconnect the motor leads from OL1. b. Pass the motor leads through two BT300-E9-FC1 ferrite cores (Item 5) and reconnect the leads to OL1. NOTE: DO NOT pass the GND wire through the ferrite cores. Secure the ferrite cores using the supplied nylon wire ties (Item 9) as close to the cable s exit point as possible. 3. Connect VFD output power cabling: a. Disconnect the output leads from the VFD. b. Pass the VFD output leads through two BT300-E9-FC1 ferrite cores (Item 5) and reconnect the leads to the VFD. Secure the ferrite cores using the supplied nylon wire ties (Item 9) as close to the VFD output terminals as possible. 4. Connect the control cabling: a. Open the BT300-E9-FC3 large clamshell toroid (Item 6) and place it over the field control wiring bundle. Securely close it over the cable bundle. b. Open the BT300-E9-FC4 small clamshell toroid (Item 7) and place it over the field control wiring bundle. Securely close it over the cable bundle. c. Secure Items 8 and 9 with the supplied nylon wire ties (Item 9) as close to the cable s exit point as possible. 5. Install the BT300-E9-FG1 EMC Vent Upgrade Kit (Item 8) onto the intake grille on bottom of the left-hand enclosure door. Use the instructions and components provided with the kit. 6. Install the BT300-E9-FG1EMC Vent Upgrade Kit (Item 8) onto the intake grille on the lower right-hand side of the enclosure. Use the instructions and components provided with the kit.
