1 Document No EcoView Multi-phase Meter Product Description This document covers the installation and commissioning of the EcoView Multi-phase Meter and 3-Phase Current Transformers as part of the EcoView system. Expected Installation Time 60 minutes Prerequisites WARNING: Installation of the EcoView Multil-phase Meter involves working with 3-phase electrical mains. Installation is intended to be performed by those with basic knowledge of electricity and electrical wiring, and who have knowledge of standard electrical safety practices. Working with electricity can be hazardous and deadly if standard electrical safety practices are not adhered to. To avoid injury to personnel and/or equipment, it is important that only those familiar with basic electrical safety practices install this device, and that the NEC codes are strictly adhered to. If you feel uncomfortable with working with line voltages, please refer this work to a qualified licensed electrician. NOTE: Verify all associated high voltage distribution systems are operating before installing the EcoView Multi-phase Meter. Indentifying any preexisting issues will save time and avoid liability. CAUTION: It is important that the HVAC system functionality be checked before installation in order to avoid any issues with the system after it is functional. Electrical System Check all high voltage switches, relays, and contactors for proper operation. Item Number , Rev. CA Page 1 of 6 Verify any on site staff is notified of potential power loss and/or necessary shut down. Recommend visual inspection of all electrical equipment and panels. Take photos to release liability for preexisting equipment or electrical conditions. Ensure property manager and/or store owner are notified.

2 MTR PWR G N Document No Installation WARNING: Verify power has been shut off before proceeding! If you cannot verify that the power is off, or cannot turn off the power, STOP WORK and call a qualified electrician. This guide does not cover nor condone the practice of working on live electrical equipment! Mounting the Meter The Multi-phase Meter must be mounted in close proximity to the main breaker panel (see Figure 1) where the utilities main power enters the building. The meter must be installed inside an appropriate plastic NEMA enclosure, (the Mulit-phase meter is specified for indoor use only). The equipment should not be located near any metallic objects. Voltage Connection Each phase of the main power must be run to the Power Meter Enclosure using appropriately rated wiring (see Figure 2). Installation of a dedicated 3- phase breaker is recommended. Connections labeled MTR PWR, 24VAC, MTR-1, and MTR-2 on power meter are not used for Power monitoring applications. ØA ØB ØC Figure V 3-phase, 4-wire, Wye Configuration. 1. Run wires for each phase of a 3-phase breaker to the appropriate Phase A, Phase B, and Phase C terminals on the 10-position terminal block. Also run a wire from the neutral bus to the Neutral connection on the 10-position terminal block. NOTE: It is recommended that each phase connection be run to an in-line blade fuse holder with a 3A fuse (see Figure 3). To use, cut the wire loop and wire the fuse in series with the meter and source voltage. Access the fuse through the snap-fit lid on the top of the holder. It is recommended that the wire colors used remain consistent, allowing installers to easily differentiate and trace their paths. ECO0003R1 Figure 3. In-line Blade Fuse Holder. 3 2. Set the breaker in the Off position. Join the wires coming from the power meter enclosure to the newly installed in-line fuse holder(s) or to the 3-Phase breaker. 3. Verify all connections have been appropriately tightened and will not come out unintentionally. 3-Phase Current Transformers ECO0006R1 ECO0004R1 Figure 4. 3-Phase Current Transformer. Install a 3-Phase Current Transformer (see Figure 4) on each phase leg (see Figure 5), and route the voltage wires to the Energy Meter Enclosure. 1. Open the Current Transformer s removable side, and slip the Current Transformer around the phase being monitored. 2. Snap the removable side back into place. NOTE: The Current Transformers must be installed so that the white label faces the source where the power comes in from the street to allow them to sense current flow (see Figure 6). Figure 6. Correct Orientation. There is one Current Transformer for each of the three phases being monitored; ensure that each Current Transformer is routed to the correct connection on the meter. The Current Transformer s black and white wires attach to the 6-position terminal block below the label A-CT, B-CT, and C-CT as follows: 1. Attach the white wire of the Current Transformer attached to Phase A to the first terminal (see Figure 7) below the label A-CT. 2. Attach the black wire to the second adjacent terminal. 3. Repeat this process by connecting Phase B to the terminals labeled B-CT and Phase C to the terminals labeled C-CT. NOTE: The wires on the Current Transformers can be extended if necessary. However, the same gauge wire and twists must be maintained. Short any unused phases of the meter on the terminal block with a small length of wire. 4 4. Switch the dedicated 3-phase breaker into the ON position and ensure that the lights on the Multi-phase Meter turn on. If properly wired, the status LEDs for each phase should be solid green and the NET and PWR LEDs on the Multi-phase Meter should be flashing red. If the meter current transformers LEDs turn solid red, the current transformers must be reversed. Swapping the white and black wires on the terminal block is the easiest solution. NOTE: The Current Transformer lights will not illuminate if little or no current is passing through any of the phases. Commissioning the Multi-phase Meter This final procedure joins the Multi-phase Meter to the touchscreen wirelessly. Complete these steps before assigning the meter to the touchscreen. Joining the Multi-phase Meter 1. Press the recessed reset button (see Figure 8), four times, quickly. The NET light should turn solid red for a few seconds. When the NET light begins to blink, the Multi-phase meter has joined a panel network. 2. Press the recessed reset button once before going to the touchscreen. Reset Button RSSI NET PWR NOTE: Join devices one at a time. This prevents confusion from having several MAC addresses on screen.) 4. Press the MAC address to be assigned (it will highlight). 5. Select the Power Meter in the Device Configuration section of the screen to highlight. 6. Once both items are highlighted, press the Assign IDs button. This will assign the device as this panel s power meter and lock it into the wireless network. 7. Press the Exit button in the lower right of the screen to save this configuration. The installation is now complete. Troubleshooting 1. If the meter s MAC address does not display in the Device Network screen, repeat the steps for Joining the Multi-phase Meter. NOTE: The meter may have joined another Touchscreen s network. If devices are showing up on a panel where they should not, see Removing Device(s) Installed to a Panel in Error (Multi-panel Sites). 2. To reset the meter to manufacturer s defaults, press and hold the recessed reset button (see Figure 8) for more than 10 seconds and release. Assigning to the Touchscreen (Setup) 1. Press the Touchscreen Config button. 2. Press the Device Network tab. 3. The meter s MAC address will display in the Unassigned Node section of screen. G N ØA ØB ØC Removing Device(s) Installed to a Panel in Error (Multi-panel Sites) 1. Close the network on the panel that the devices(s) is/are installed to in error. 2. Highlight the device in the unassigned nodes box. 3. Press the uninstall button. 4. Continue doing this for all devices on the wrong panel. 5. FCC and IC Radiation Exposure Statement for Mobile Devices This equipment complies with FCC and IC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment shall be installed and operated with minimum distance 20cm between the radiator and your body. This transmitter must not be re-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. FCC Code of Federal Regulations Title 47 Part : Information to the user: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. 6 Antenna: Under Industry Canada regulations, this radio transmitter may only operate using an antenna of a type and maximum (or lesser) gain approved for the transmitter by Industry Canada.
