2 museums Monterey Museum of Art, California Lighting controls are an essential tool in the display of artwork in museums. Not only does a properly configured control system provide artwork conservation, significant energy savings and streamlined display changeover but the lighting can significantly enhance the viewing enjoyment of the works of art. In some museums, lighting designers are setting up control systems that turn lights on and off as visitors walk through galleries, adding drama and energy savings. The challenge is to create a system that works seamlessly: museum guests should be largely unaware that a control system is in place, except when the lighting is a part of the artwork or the display technique. Controls can facilitate changes based on time of day, natural light, or presence detection. Depending on the setup of the exhibit, visitors can be given the ability to control the light in specific cases or displays, or lighting can direct the visitor by using dynamic lighting of specific displays or elements of an object. Increasingly, museums are hosts for events or fund raisers for patrons of the arts. Setting up for special exhibits should be easy to accomplish with a well designed lighting and control system.

5 DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS Monterey Museum of Art, California The system can provide scheduled lighting preset scenes allowing consistently appropriate lighting and changing display configurations all of which are adjustable against the varying conditions of occupancy, time of day and ambient lighting conditions. The ability to adjust schedules and presets is provided for museum personnel. Temperature control is also provided, allowing for scheduled and occupancy dependent variations, in order to achieve energy savings without compromising comfort. Dimming external lighting can enhance architectural features in the evening as well as provide for security-level lighting at night. In this application a single InFusion Controller is typically sufficient. Lighting panels placed back of house contain hardware for the switching and dimming of lighting loads reducing, and in some cases, eliminating wall clutter. Strategically placed keypads allow for direct manual control capabilities. Fixed location touch panels placed in administrative areas and mobile apps allow authorized personnel access to individual lighting zones, preset scenes and schedules. This provides the ability to affect instantaneous adjustments as well as modify scenes and schedules as requirements change. Occupancy sensors strategically placed can provide energy savings through reduction of lighting load both through switching off and dimming as appropriate, as well as to provide bright lighting, appropriate to the current conditions, when occupancy is detected. Occupancy based modification of temperature setpoints provides for additional energy savings. Light sensors placed where natural light is available provide energy savings through daylight harvesting, wherein target illumination is achieved by natural lighting first and artificial lighting second. It is important to note that the system configuration is extremely flexible and variations on this design can accommodate for the specific requirements of any project.

8 INSTALLATIOOTES Install the InFusion Controller in the main lighting panel in a temperature conditioned room backof-house with 36 front clearance. Install secondary lighting panels in similar locations, centrally or distributed as appropriate to the location of the lighting loads. 0-0V dimming stations are located in auxiliary lighting panels. Our two-conductor station bus cabling is run from the controller to keypads, 0-0V dimming stations and thermostats. Topology is completely open, but total bus length limitations and maximum distance limitations exist (2000 maximum per bus, 000 maximum distance). 8AWG C cable is run between the main lighting panel and secondary lighting panels. Up to two secondary lighting panels may be connected in daisy-chain with a combined wire length of 200. Up to three such runs are available per controller, for a maximum number of six secondary enclosures per controller. An Ethernet port to the InFusion Controller allows for centralized and remote system access as well as enabling interface apps on fixed-location and portable devices. All low-voltage cabling to lighting panels is to be brought through bottom knockouts where termination boards are located within the low voltage barrier. Picasso Museum Occupancy and light sensors wire either to keypad or 0-0V dimming station via 22 AWG cable with a minimum of three conductors. Electrical power cabling runs from each lighting load to a pre-assigned location in a lighting panel. Thermostats will typically be located near the HVAC plant with a flush wall-mount temperature sensor placed local to the HVAC zone (maximum run 60 ft, 8AWG 2C). Ethernet and power availability is required at the fixed-location, in-wall touch panels. PoE (Power Over Ethernet) capabilities allow for a single CAT6e cable run to provide both.
