The fully automatic ph/orp measuring system combines a very high degree of safety, highly precise measurement results and low maintance requirements. 2 Function and system design The TopCal S CPC 300 cleaning and calration system consists of the following components: CPG 300 control unit Mycom CPM 153 measuring transmitter Multihose with assembly hose clip Containers for buffer solutions and cleaner CPC 300 / CPM 153 power supply / control cable CPG 300 hoses for containers CPG 300 control unit The CPG 300 control unit converts the commands of the CPM 153 into pneumatic signals and sends feedback signals such as holder position, buffer container level and monitoring signals for compressed air and water. The buffer solutions and cleaners are conveyed to the holder by a pump. The pump and hoses are cleaned with water and air after every calration cycle. Optionally, you can have up to two additional output relay contacts that are freely configurable. They can be used to control pneumatic valves in hazardardous areas or solenoid valves in non-hazardous areas to convey hot or aggressive media. CPM 153 transmitter The CPM 153 is the central unit of the measuring point. It processes the measured variables, acts as a communications center and controls processes. The CPM 153 controls processes in the CPG 300 via an interface and processes its feedback signals. The CPC 300 system is supplied complete with hoses and container level control. In the hazardous area version, the CPC 300 is powered via the power supply / control cable. In the non-hazardous version, the CPC 300 has its own power supply connection. 2

5 Cleaning / calration programs You have a choice of eight programs total. Programs 1 thru 5: permanently assigned to one function. The cleaning times or repeat cycles are freely selectable. Programs 6, 7 and 8: user-defined (user programs). A simple way of programming is to copy and adapt predefined programs into user programs. Select the control for one or two external additional valves for your device under Order Code item Control of External Valves The sterilization and Sealing water * functions are only released on devices fitted with a control function for additional external valves. You can have unlimited use of additional external valves as required in the freely definable user programs. For example, for superheated steam, a second cleaner, cooling air, organic cleaner, etc. * Sealing water - In processes with frous or adhesive media, assemblies with ball valves e.g. Probfit CPA 463 or Cleanfit-P CPA 477 holders are fitted to block the process medium. To keep the rinse chamber free of medium, the sealing water valve opens automatically before the holder retracts from the process. The counterpressure in the rinse chamber caused by the sealing water prevents the ingress of medium into the chamber. The sealing water pressure must be greater than the pressure of the medium. The programs can be started automatically at preset intervals, manually or in the event of an error message. Almost any error message can do this. 5

6 Other functions Quick startup This function configures the measuring point quickly and simply with the necessary settings so that you can begin measuring immediately. SSC (= Sensor Condition Check) This function monitors the electrode status or the degree of electrode ageing. The electrode status is updated after each calration. If a bad condition is indentified, an error message (maintenance requirements) is set. SCS (= Sensor Check System) The Sensor Check System indicates deviations from the normal range in ph-glass resistance and reference resistance. It means that an incorrect measurement may be made due to blocking or damage to the ph electrode. PCS (= Process Check System) This function checks the measuring signal for deviations. If the measuring signal does not change over a specific period (1 hr., 2 hr., 4 hr.), an alarm is triggered. This may be caused by soiling process conditions. Logbooks There are several logbooks available: the last 30 entries are saved to an error logbook, an operation logbook and a calration logbook. You can retrieve the entries by specifying a date and time. Data logger You can record two freely selectable parameters using the integrated data loggers and then view the results graphically in real time. You can retrieve the last 500 measured values using date and time. In this way, you can graphically display the process flow. 7 MEAS DIAG CAL PARAM TopCal S CPC 300 Simple to control The following control functions are used in the CPC 300: Limit value contact Two-point controller with hysteresis for simple temperature control PID controller For one and two-sided processes With freely adjustable P, I and D components Includes configurable range-dependent gain (kinked curve) Distinction between batch and continuous (in-line) processes Manipulated variable output Binary signal via relay as PWM (pulse length proportional), PFM (pulse frequency proportional) or dynamic PWM Current output (0/4 to 20 ma): analog signal to control the actuator (for one or two actuator drives / single or split range ) DAT module The DAT module is a memory device (EEPROM) which is inserted in the terminal compartment of the measuring transmitter. The DAT module allows: save complete settings, logbooks and the data loggers of the CPC 300 system copy the complete settings to other CPM 153 measuring transmitters which have identical hardware functionality This considerably reduces the effort to install or service several measuring points. Off-line set-up and documentation using the PC tool (Accessories) Using the PC tool, you can: ➀ Configure the whole measuring point on the PC in the familiar Windows environment and, ➁ Save the settings to the DAT module. ➂ Install the DAT module in a CPM 153 and transfer the entire configuration to the measuring transmitter (= complete measuring transmitter set-up). Then you can set up other measuring transmitters with the same configuration. ➃ Similarly, you can use the DAT to read out logbooks and data loggers from the measuring transmitter for documentation purposes and save them to your computer. You can then display the data logger information in graphic form on your PC DAT 4 Refer to the graphic on page 21 for information on the PC tool user interface. 7

8 Calration Calration and measuring Besides the fully automatic calration function, the instrument allows all field-tested calration possilities including isothermic intersection compensation: Automatic calration through buffer self-recognition The buffer tables, e.g. DIN,, Merck and Riedel de Haen/Ingold, are saved in the device. You can also define other buffer tables yourself. During calration, the system automatically recognizes the buffer value. Manual calration When calrating manually, you can conduct either a two-point calration (zero point and slope) or a single-point calration, i.e. zero point calration of the ph electrode. Numeric calration (data input) The electrode data (zero point and slope) are entered using the keypad. Medium temperature compensation Allows high-precision measurement, even over wide temperature ranges. In this type of compensation, the temperature effect on the ph value of the medium itself is compensated. Isothermic intersection compensation Compensation for electrodes whose measuring chain zero point and isothermic intersection point are not identical. Calration logbook The data of the last 30 calrations are saved to a list with date and time. 8

14 CPM 153 relay contacts The Alarm relay, Relay 1 and Relay 2 can be configured according to NAMUR recommendations for outputting function control, maintenance requirements and failure messages. The Chemoclean spray cleaning system with the CYR 10 injector automatically cleans the electrode, and is controlled by two relay contacts. The NC/NO contact can be switched via software. If the CPM 153 is mounted on the front of an air-tight panel, you must provide a flat seal (refer to Accessories ). Here, the possle options are displayed in plain text and selected elements are displayed in reverse video. Selections are made using the arrow keys, which are also used to edit the numeric values. The calration function is assumed in this complete system by the fully automatic cleaning function of the CPG 300. The PC tool provides you with a tool for configuring your measuring point on a PC using simple and self-explanatory menu structure (an example window is shown below). Write the configuration to the DAT module using the RS 232 interface on the PC. The data can be transferred to the CPM 153 transmitter. 21
