Possible applications Residual current monitoring (RCM) is playing an increasingly important role in applications with a demand for highavailability power supplies. Possible applications can be found in almost every market segment. Constant processes and highly sensitive applications in areas such as data centres, hospitals and semiconductor factories in particular are based on RCM monitoring. Everywhere, where isolation resistance and residual current circuit breakers cannot be realised for local or operational reasons, RCM measurement constitutes a good alternative. Avoid supply tripping Prevent production downtimes Reduce energy consumption (ISO 50001) Safeguard traffic flows Monitor highavailability energy distribution Page 4

The system Power supply without tripping TN-S systems are mandatory with new systems. In the case of older TN-C-S systems, upgrading to TN-S is recommended. The functionality of TN-S systems can be permanently monitored and recorded with Janitza RCM solutions. This requirement constitutes a key function in many industries and application areas for the safety and economic success of the company. The RCM employed here should be easy to use, automatically highlight any problems and offer the service technician valuable assistance at the same time. 7 UMG 20CM & UMG 96RM-E RCM & energy data acquisition Message before blackout ma Personnel protection System protection Fire protection Disconnect Timely detection of any faults that arise is critical - i.e. even before fuses or residual current circuit breakers (RCD) disconnect affected systems or power socket circuits. For this purpose it is usually necessary to monitor, evaluate and report subtle increases in residual currents, e.g. triggered by insulation faults, and excessively high load currents, before tripping occurs! Residual current Message from RCM Information advantage t Time Sensors for energy management Our system is exceptionally well suited for acquiring energy data with minimal outlay. It allows for a large number of loads, and passes this information on to databases. Irrespective of the future legal regulations and existing options through which to reduce energy cost - energy optimisation and energy savings always offer the potential for high financial savings. ISO describes energy monitoring systems as a prerequisite for energy management systems. The following applies here: The greater the scope of information, the more definitely the savings potentials can be determined. Archiving energy data in databases The data stored in the measurement devices, actual measured values and events which exceed preset threshold values, is read out via the GridVis software and stored in central databases for further evaluation. Depending on the size of the consumer systems it should be able to determine automatically a high number of operating current values and archive these - the system should however remain clear and simple to the operator. Fig.: Message before shut-down - an objective of residual current monitoring Fig.: UMG 20CM 20-channel residual current and energy measurement device, mixed operating mode possible Our solution: Energy data acquisition, RCM and PQ With our energy data acquisition and residual current monitoring system it is possible to avoid failures in the power supply through early warnings. Furthermore, system protection and fire protection can be enhanced. Measured values and messages can be transferred to databases. In doing so, the operating current acquisition offers the evaluation basis for energy management systems. The multi-channel monitoring devices, with connectable current transformers, are fitted into distribution systems on standardised top-hat DIN rails. They are used in TN and TT systems, and also in IT systems for operating current measurement. Use of the current transformers, e. g.: incoming supplies, in outputs circuits (loads) with PEN and N conductors (for stray currents in TN-S systems), at central ground points (CGP). The monitoring devices can be parameterised with ease, the actual measured values can be visualised as a graphical progression. Various options exist for the issuance of alarms and messages in the event of a failure - including to remote monitoring and messaging via . Fig.: Summation current transformers for the acquisition of residual currents. Various configurations and sizes enable use in almost all applications. Page 7

Benefits The intelligent system solution Early warning of potential system failures Avoidance of costly and hazardous system downtimes, the availability of systems is increased Localisation of individual faulty outlets, reduced work when troubleshooting Early detection of an overloading of the N conductor and critical residual currents, resulting in increased fire safety By setting parameters for the system when in new condition and subsequent constant monitoring, all changes to the system state after final commissioning are discernible Fulfilment of the safety criteria "RCM residual current monitoring" in data centres Convenient monitoring and parameterisation solution with GridVis software Operating current acquisition of all relevant loads as a basis for an energy management system (EnMS) Application areas Data centres / offices Petrochemical plants Traffic systems Media technology facilities Industrial systems / conveyance technology Railway and road tunnels Energy-intensive industries with optimisation potentials Main distribution The 20 channels of the UMG 20CM can optionally be used together with the respective current measurement transformer for residual current or operating current monitoring. 9 UMG 20CM & UMG 96RM-E RCM & energy data acquisition The principle Using the analysis and evaluation GridVis software it is possible to present channel-specific measured values of the current monitoring devices. Warning and failure messages can be displayed e. g. in the topology view. Associated message texts are freely configurable with GridVis. Furthermore, with GridVis it is possible to parameterise the residual and operating current monitoring devices. To do so it is merely necessary to connect and pre-parameterise the UMG 20CM via Modbus. Database connection Energy management system (EnMS) Monitoring system Within the framework of logging all relevant operating currents and transferring the values to databases managed by the customer, the system is optimally suited for an energy management system (EnMS). The most convenient solution for the monitoring, documentation and parameterisation is the GridVis monitoring system. The data stored in the measurement devices (e. g. location information, monitored operating equipment), as well as their measured values and events which exceed preset threshold values, is automatically read out and stored in the project database. Measured values of the respective channels are visualised as a graphical progression. Operating and error messages can be automatically sent to any desired recipients by . Remote monitoring of the entire system is possible via internet, similarly the connection of popular databases. 14 UMG 96RM-E with 6 current channels for permanent operating and residual current monitoring RCM UMG 96RM-E measurement devices have 6 current inputs (4 inputs at 1 and 5 A and 2 analogue inputs 030 ma), of which 2 analogue inputs can be used for temperature, analogue or residual current measurement. This means that in addition to normal measurement of operating currents, continuous monitoring of the leakage current is possible. For the RCM measurement, a special threshold setting has been implemented in which RCM limit values are dynamically set, depending on the total power output. With the dynamic limit value generation, a custom residual current value is created in all load ranges and unnecessary fault alarms are avoided. In contrast to conventional RCM monitoring devices, an optimum residual current limit value is also assured in the small load range. Outgoing residual currents and ground leakage are captured and saved according to IEC type A and B, e.g. on incoming feeder, loads or central ground points. 16 Accessories: Residual current transformer It is possible to connect all conventional RCM transformers of type A with ma outlets. The RCM CT ratios are freely adjustable. Feethrough CT s are preferable for new installations, whereas split core CT s are recommended for retrofitting. The compact CT s of the KBU series enable rapid and economical installation by opening and closing of the CT. The simple button-operated locking system thus dispenses with the separating and detachment of primary cores. It is possible to use conventional 1/5-A current transformers for phases L14. Residual current transformers are required for the RCM function. 19 UMG 20CM & UMG 96RM-E RCM & energy data acquisition Example application - data centre, bank head office Introduction Under the heading "assured power supply for data centres and other drop-out critical systems", residual and operating current monitoring is only one - albeit vital - component. We examine the completed project and portrayed example in the classic sense as a study object. If you discover that our system would be implementable in principle - even if a number of essential functions are not identifiable - please do not hesitate to contact us. Alignments and functional expansions are possible on a project-specific basis. The data centre project described here, implemented for a major German bank, constitutes the upgrade status in November Why monitor currents? The highest demands are placed on the availability of data centres. Their failure can endanger the financial success of every company. A basic prerequisite for the stable operation of the hardware is and remains an uninterrupted electricity supply - for the computers and components themselves, for air-conditioning systems, for security and fire safety equipment and even for lighting. A vital element of a secure power supply in this regard is the monitoring and evaluation of all currents. At the present time, a residual current and operating current monitoring system is the only expedient solution through which to technically implement the principle of "early reporting - before a trip-event".* Elements of an assured power supply Operating current measurement Residual current measurement (RCM) Power quality monitoring Redundant power supply system Uninterruptible power supply for short-term supply Measures to guard against electromagnetic interference (EMI) Emergency power system EPS EMC-compatible installation with monitoring of critical currents, power quality analysis Overvoltage protection Assured power supply for data centres * The German Federal Office for Information Security Technology states in this regard, in its high availability compendium HV 1.2 (Bonn 2009, 11 Infrastructure, Chap , p. 31), that: "Residual current monitoring through the use of a Residual Current Monitor (RCM) is essential because this functions in a similar way to RCDs, although it offers the advantage of not reacting with an instant shutdown upon reaching the rated residual current. RCMs are able to observe the residual current over its temporal development and - depending on the individual settings - issue a warning message upon reaching a certain signalling residual current, which should be sent to a central station." Page 19

System requirements of the operator Configuration of a residual and operating current monitoring system for data centres at 4 locations in Germany Monitoring of the power supply for connected network cabinets (rack servers used with dual power supplies) Simple and also retrofittable possibility of operating current monitoring for outlets and loads Variable equipping (in terms of power and number) of network cabinets with rack servers must not lead to overloading or maximum loading of fused power boards (comply with thermal "uncritical" range of tripping curve) of circuit breakers Residual current monitoring in 1-phase and 3-phase final current circuits up to 1000 ma with the aim: "Report before a trip event" - detection of critical states and channel-related detection (per monitored current circuit) for rapid and targeted intervention Operating current monitoring up to 63 A Further requirements applicable to residual current monitoring: - High quality of the resolution, true RMS - Smallest / largest trigger threshold (trigger signal) from 10 ma to 1 A - Possibility of pre-warning - Power quality reports and cost centres Immediate message, if maximum loading of the usable sockets is attained (operating current monitoring) System dimensions, upgrade status November locations, with safeguarded critical consumers, one central overall energy management system, 7500 measurement points Channel-specific messages per for service Site 1 Site 2 Site 3 Site 4 Connection possibility external databases TCP / IP Modbus Location-independent operation and observation of channel-dependent measured values and messages Connected loads in the data centre, e.g. network cabinets Page 20

UMG 20CM & UMG 96RM-E RCM & energy data acquisition Parameterisation and display solution requirements Central and independent illustration of all actual values and messages Central parameterisation of all monitoring devices No manipulation possible on site at the monitoring devices - e.g. no unauthorised changing of the trigger thresholds Channel-related measured value displays and messages (alarm by ) Freely definable cost centres through to the individual circuit Simple to replace measurement devices and monitoring devices Rapid updating of many data points System can be expanded with ease Possibility of connecting with databases managed externally by the customer (as autonomous application for saving messages and values - included in a customer-specific data backup program) Complete overview of all connected web servers (in the systems) with just a single operating interface Monitoring of server cabinets (racks) Redundancy monitoring ma Personnel protection System protection Fire protection Disconnect Rack server with dual power supply Rack feed-in 1 Rack server with dual power supply Residual current Message from RCM Information advantage t Time Rack server with dual power supply Message in two stages creates time advantage Monitoring Operating currents Leakage currents, detected as residual currents Variable equipment of the racks with servers (in terms of power/number) possible without system overloading due to constant load control (operating current monitoring) Residual current monitoring with the aim of "Reporting before drop-out" Redundant power supply Redundant power supply Network 1, outlet 1, distribution cabinet 1 Network 2, outlet 2, distribution cabinet 2 Page 21

Advantages and benefits Through possibility of free allocation of the residual or operating current monitoring for an arbitrary number of measurement points, it is possible to assign the outputs as desired. The type of monitoring is only stipulated through the simple parameterisation of the UMG 20CM monitoring devices. Compact system with minimal space requirement Decentralised UMG master devices in the field make the system scalable, result: ease of possible expansion - capacity can be retrofitted at any location. Flexible expansion of the system through master-slave architecture Remote access through password-protected browser technology (internet standard browser). Ancillary effects Use of the operating current acquisition for determining load utilisation (electrical) of the system Support to the output-dependent alignment of the cooling capacity for the system, because the thermal output of the rack server is proportional to the operating current. Acquisition of the operating currents and transfer of the values to customer-specific database as a prerequisite Freely definable cost centres down to each individual circuit Verification of high electrical availability Page 22

UMG 20CM & UMG 96RM-E RCM & energy data acquisition Scalability: A considerable system advantage This means: The system can be expanded on an arbitrary basis - with increasing complexity the clarity and ease of operation remains intact with the same user interface. Principle of "distributed intelligence" The UMG master devices transfer the measured data from the monitoring devices (field devices) to the TCP/IP network. This is automatically saved and monitored by the GridVis energy management software. Switch TCP/IP Master device UMG 508 Modbus Modbus UMG 604 UMG 20CM slave devices Conclusion The monitoring system makes a fundamental contribution to increasing the permanent availability of the data centre. RCM monitoring systems are increasingly playing a role in the certification of IT infrastructures with respect to the evaluation criterion "assured energy supply" and as auxiliary aids for the assessment of electrical systems according to the applicable German standards and regulations. e.g. VDE , VdS guidelines, BGV A3, BetrSichV. Furthermore, the acquisition of operating current constitutes the basis for an energy management system (EnMS). Page 23
