6 Voice SRU provides the digital voice processing function for two channels of analog voice. 2.4 and 16 kbps rates are used for each channel. The 2.4 kbps voice algorithm shall be linear predictive coding (LPC) 10e v52 algorithm. The 16 kbps voice algorithm shall be the Continuous Variable Slope Delta (CVSD) algorithm. The BIT support sub-function shall detect any failure condition by executing start-up, operational, and manually-initiated BIT.

7 The Tailored Processor function provides a data path between the host platform interface (1553, 3910) and the Data Processor Function. The TP is also responsible for: Coordinating TACAN control with host Executing TP Computer Program The TP Consists of: CPU Memory Sub-function Bus Interface TP is driven by 20 MHz clock

8 The Data Processor (DP) stores the CORE processor computer program and data used by the processing function. Communication with other digital CCA s is over VME bus DP contains the LRU Support Port Interface (An Ethernet interface used for testing, data recording & some reprogramming) Includes NVRAM to store BIT, Elapsed Time Indicator (ETI), and Initialization data Power requirements obtained from Internal Power Supply (IPS)

9 The MIDS LVT 2 and 11 Data Processor (DP) functions are consistent with the LVT 1 DP with the added functions of the Subscriber Interface Army (SIA) processor computer program. DP/SIA is one side of the dual lamina SRU A3 Communication with other digital SRU s inside MIDS-LVT is over VME bus. DP/SIA contains the Support Port Interface (Ethernet interface used for testing, data recording & some reprogramming) Includes NVRAM to store BIT, Elapsed Time Indicator (ETI), and Initialization data.

10 ADDSI is the 2 nd side of dual-lamina SRU A3 Army Data Distribution System Interface (ADDSI) contains the ADDSI computer program. Provides the X.25, Platform J and JREAP-C interfaces.

11 Item Performance Spec: Document Number: MIDS-PS-103-SMP-00 SMP SRU provides for signal processing, message processing, data and traffic security, terminal timing, and built-in-test. Control data sent from the Data Processor (DP) SRU in every TDMA slot establishes the slot by slot behavior of the SMP. SMP output processing encrypts and codes the data for modulation of the RF carrier frequencies to produce the MIDS waveform. Tuning of the RF carrier frequencies is controlled by the processing within the SMP. Received RF transmissions, transformed to base band, are supplied to the SMP for message synchronization detection and message data detection. SMP operational and interruptive testing checks the integrity of the SMP's detailed operation.

12 RTI/Discrete consists of two CCA s: RTI and Discrete RTI function provides: Frequency Reference = 30 MHz Clock Outputs = System Clock (5 MHz) Receive Clock (5 MHz) Transmit Clock (5 MHz) Buffer Clock (20 MHz) Interfaces with Serial Control and Report Busses Discrete function provides: Blanking signals for TACAN Fail Discrete Signals for overall RTS fault detection

13 Receiver/Synthesizer Performs the Receive function for the TDMA Signals. The R/S is split into two Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) the RF CCA, and the Digital CCA. Interfaces to RFA, the RTI module, the IPS, and the Master Interconnect Board (MIB). The RF CCA: Receives TDMA RF signal from Power Amp/Antenna Interface Unit (PA/AIU) Provides RF Selectivity and Frequency down conversion Includes two receive channels with two synthesizers able to tune to each of the 51 Link 16 frequencies The Digital CCA: Provides Base band conversion from IF to I and Q signals Provides quantizing of the I and Q signals

14 TACAN SRU provides radio reception and transmission capability for TACAN signals at center frequencies between 962 & 1213 MHz Composed of the TACAN RF CCA and TACAN Digital CCA RF CCA Provides: RF Preselection IF Filtering via a BPF Various Transmit functions Digital CCA Provides Control of the RF Rx/Tx frequency values Voltage generation for AGC circuitry Acquisition and tracking processing Antenna Switch selection

15 Divided into two CCA s: Exciter/Continuous Phase Shift Modulation (CPSM) and IPF Exciter is responsible for: Receiving data Provide control and reference signals from RTI CPSM is responsible for: Performing CPSM Interference Protection Feature provides Monitoring of EMC features of the RTS Pulse Width Carrier Frequency Radiated Energy into IFF band If any pulses fall into out-of-band region, IPF function will automatically disable the RTS transmit

16 The PA/AIU is a module consisting of several sub-modules which forms the rear of the R/T LRU Performs Rx/Tx function for TDMA Signals Pre-selects, limits, and pre-amplifies the RF Signals In Tx mode, amplifies and shapes the RF output pulses

17 IPS is attached to the bottom of the Receiver/Transmitter LRU Consists of two subassemblies: One forms bottom cover Other forms top cover Essentially the DC converter section of the RTS power distribution system Receives 28 VDC and bias power from PSA Convert 28VDC power into specific outputs required by the R/T LRU

18 The R/T Chassis is an assembly that houses all other internally and externally mounted module assemblies and SRUs. The function is: Provide electrical interconnect between LRUs, Host Platform, and modules Made of a rigid aluminum housing Top and Bottom plates contain heat exchanger fins Provides cooling air channels Front panel contains all connectors (14) to external LRU and Host plus BNC ground connector LVT 2/11 has 10 connectors On/Off/Stand By Switch BIT Read Out BIT/INIT Button Color coded lights Front panel provision for swing bolts to secure LRU to host platform
