2 The Collins family of UHF/VHF AM/FM tactical transceivers utilizes the latest in advanced technology. The provides a four-band UHF/VHF operational capability in a substantially smaller and lighter weight package than many single-band transceivers that it replaces. The combines both VHF AM/FM and UHF AM/FM transmission and reception capabilities into a single unit. Selection between bands is automatically accomplished as the operator selects the desired frequency (preset or manual) on the control unit. In addition, both AM and FM preset band emergency guard frequencies are automatically tuned through dedicated positions on the selector knob of the companion control. The is in service in 42 countries on more than 120 airborne, ground, and mobile installations. Modification kits are available to add NVG capability to most versions of the ARC-182(V) family. Modification kits are also available to add HQ or HQII to the remote mounted versions of the ARC-182(V) family of radios. *Note the existing controls cannot be modified for HQ or HQII and must be replaced. *HQ & HQII are only for sale to authorized countries. 13 Test Equipment 973W-( ) Test Sets The 973W-( ) Series provides manual intermediate and operational level maintenance for the receiver-transmitters, remote controls, and indicators when used with standard test equipment. 973W-2 - Test Set The 973W-2 Test Set is a simple cable harness test panel for use in testing standard AN/ARC- 182(V) units in all operational modes. The test set includes test points, light indicators, and switches to measure and monitor all major functions. It operates from 28-V dc power per MIL-STD-704 and supplies power to the unit being tested. 973W-3- Test Set With MIL-STD-1553B Test Compatibility The 973W-3 Test Set is a cable harness test panel for use in testing units in all operational modes including SCAN/SATCOM series, CASS/DICASS, and embedded ECCM units. The test set features several built-in MIL-STD-1553B messages, as well as test points, light indicators, and switches to measure and monitor all major functions.
