2 Technical Data Sheet Page 2 General Information A compact 2 cell enclosure ideally suited for medium to long throw applications. The 2 cell comes as standard with mounting arm for surface mounting. Manufactured from high grade powder coated aluminium and steel, the 2 cell product provides the same quality performance as the 1 cell versions but in a more powerful form factor. The ARC 2 cell unit connects directly to a mains supply and is supplied complete with all necessary drivers and power supplies integrated. The 2 cell dimming control can either be wired DMX or wireless to suit your application. The has been specifically developed for auditorium lighting applications where high quality extremely accurate and smooth dimming is required. The use of onboard Device Management allows all fittings to be addressed remotely using the commissioning tool (ARCMCT ) and the Wireless Gateway (ARCMTX1 ), ensuring installation is fast and simple for electrical contractors. 4 Technical Data Sheet Page 4 Control If using wireless control, a wireless gateway will be required, part number ARCMTX1. When using the wireless control option, the system can be configured using the software and USB dongle (ARCMCT). In this case, DMX is connected to the gateway and then the fittings are controlled wirelessly. The ARCMTX1 allows for other settings to be configured as listed below: Patching of groups of light fittings to DMX channels. Minimum and maximum dimming levels per group Power fail/recovery options per group Preset recall when using button panels such as the ARCMCP8 If using the wired control option, DMX can be wired directly to the 2 cell fitting using RJ45 connectors. Each 2 cell fitting has IN and THRU option, using 2 separate connectors. The commissioning tool along with the gateway allows for addressing of each 2 cell remotely. Note, if using wired only option, a commissioning tool and wireless gateway will still be required for DMX addressing. This can then be removed from the system once addresses have been set. 5 Technical Data Sheet Page 5 Non Emergency Connection Non Emergency light fittings have 1 x mains connection via an IEC panel mount plug on the light fitting. This connects to a normal mains supply and in the event of power failure the fitting will naturally go out as there is now no power at the fitting. However, the light fitting can be set to recall a level in the event of losing a wireless or DMX signal using the commissioning tool options. Supply Input VAC 50/60Hz IEC Connection Light Fitting Emergency Connection Emergency light fittings have 2 x mains leads that come fixed to the light fitting, these have the following functions: 1. Mains sense 2. Maintained supply Note: Input 2 (Maintained supply) circuit must be wired in fire rated cable to the light fitting connection point. Please consult with a qualified electrical engineer for correct installation procedures VAC 50/60Hz VAC 50/60Hz Fixed Cable Connection Sense Input Fixed Cable Connection Maintained Input Light Fitting Note: For reliable emergency operation, when the mains sense input power is lost, the light fitting will bypass all electronic processing from the wireless/dmx system. The mains sense is used to detect whether the power has been lost. This will force the light fitting to a full on state running from the maintained supply. There is no control of the light fitting from the Wireless or DMX until the Mains sense input is turned back on. This configuration will be sufficient for a central battery system that provides a maintained supply at input 2 regardless of whether power has been lost or not. If the central battery system only provides power upon mains failure at input 2, a change over relay will be required to switch the maintained input from a normal supply over to the battery system. This is required as the light fitting always requires power at the maintained input for correct operation. In this case, please see the information below.

6 Technical Data Sheet Page 6 Emergency Connection - Cont The below example shows a typical changeover relay (Cooper Controls ACM1) being used to ensure the light fitting always has constant power at the maintained input ensuring correct operation. This is required if the central battery system does not provide power in normal operating conditions. Supplies Light Fitting Light Fitting Please see Appendix 1 for ACM1 manufacturers data sheet Emergency Options It is possible to select which cells of the 2 cells come on in an emergency state using the internal DIP switches on the driver board. This allows for a reduced light output in an emergency state to reduce power consumption. Please see Driver Board DIP switch settings for further information. The default supplied 2 cell emergency fitting will bring all 2 cells on in power fail. It is recommended this is specified at order stage so that our engineers can reconfigure the light fittings prior to final soak testing in our factory.

7 Technical Data Sheet Page 7 Driver Board DIP Switch Settings Warning! Do NOT attempt to carry out the following procedures unless authorised to do so. Always ensure power is isolated prior to commencing any setting changes. If in doubt, please contact your supplier or GDS directly. There are a number of control options which can be changed within the enclosure of the 2 cell light fitting. These are accessed by removing the rear cover and power supply tray. There is a setting switch for each cell of the 2 cell fitting. Each cell corresponds to one of the channels on the 2 channel driver card. The options are as follows, in order of switch positions: 1. [400/600mA] OFF=600mA, ON=400mA Adjustment of drive current for this channel. This is always set to off when this driver is used in a 2 cell fitting 2. [PWM Ch.1] OFF=No response to Channel 1 ON=Responds to Channel 1 3. [PWM Ch.2] OFF=No response to Channel 2 ON=Responds to Channel 2 4. [PWM Ch.3] OFF=No response to Channel 3 ON=Responds to Channel 3 The PWM channel switches select which control channel will drive this channel on the driver card. As an example, if PWM Ch.1 is set to ON for this channel, then this will respond to channel 1 DMX address in the device configuration, see example below: In this example, the channel DMX data will be 1, 5 and 10 respectively. If the Driver card channel is selected to PWM 2, then this cell will respond to DMX 5. If there are more than 1 DIP switch selected ON, the driver card will listen to the highest level of all the selected channels. It will operate on an HTP (Highest Takes Precedence) basis. The ability to have more than one DMX channel within a 2 cell light fitting allows for the following. A requirement to have a discrete minimum level, where by a DMX address can be allocated to one cell. This means on 2 cell fittings, only one cell is lit during a minimum requirement, making the light source smaller and more discrete. This is a screen shot taken from the Commissioning tool software. 8 Technical Data Sheet Page 8 Driver Board DIP Switch Settings - Cont 5. [OVERRIDE] OFF=Cell will not light in emergency state, ON=Cell will light in emergency state. Refers to how each cell behaves when the mains sense input is turned off, and the fitting goes into emergency override. Product is shipped with all 2 cells to come on in emergency state.
