2. Preparation It is important to ensure a safe method of working is followed when fitting this equipment. It is advised to power down the circuit to be monitored before attempting to fit the V.Ts unless the cable is double insulated and there is no risk of exposure to live terminals via barriers. The following refers to the Wireless Meter Method statement. Step Activity 1. No work must commence until a full risk assessment is carried out to identify any risk of injury whilst working on the Customer s premises and adjacent to the service intake and verify safe working environment. This must include verification of local emergency services. 2. It is recommended not to work alone on any part of the installation and therefore, at least 2 persons working at any one metering point location, (where lone working is restricted). Familiarisation with onsite emergency shutdown procedures to be carried out before any work commences. 3. While fitting the CT s the wearing of appropriately rated PPE 650v insulated gloves must be worn and rubber matting used. Unless full isolation is practical. 4. Visually identify the three phase outgoing cables for circuits to be monitored. 5. Wearing insulated gloves and relevant PPE clamp CT s round outgoing cables, taking care to ensure the identified cables are not disturbed. 6. Locate a clear path for the C.T cables to run out from the distribution panel or isolator of the equipment being monitored. 7. Mount the Wireless transmitter on suitable wall or structure adjacent to the equipment being monitored. It is desirable for the transmitter to be in the open and not in an enclosure, panel or isolator where practical. 8. Plug the CT cables into Wireless Meters noting which phase is connected to which socket, and test the operation of the equipment and information is visible via Realtime-Online. 9. Tidy up any redundant materials/scrap. Remove from site all equipment and tools and clean up afterwards. Make sure any rubbish is disposed PLACING THE WIRELESS TRANSMITTER OUTSIDE OF ANY ENCLOSURE, PANEL OR DISTRIBUTION BOARD, WILL ENSURE THE SIGNAL STRENGTH IS OPTIMISED AND PREVENT FUTURE OR RANDOM FAILURE. Invisible Systems Limited Page 5
3. Current Transformer (CT s) This energy measurement system utilises split core Current Transformer, to provide a kwh measurement. The CT output is a small AC voltage in the range V AC. These devices are safer to use, in that they do not suffer from the dangers as conventional CT s with secondary current output. Each Split Core V.T is designed so that they can be opened and fitted round the designated cable without the need to disturb or disconnect the associated cables. The Wireless meters can be supplied with a range of Split Core CT s of various current ranges suitable with varying current loads. The Wireless meters are calibrated to use the Split Core CT s supplied and therefore other CT s are not suitable for use. With reference to a method statement Locate the appropriate circuit to be monitored and ensure full load requirements are obtained. Assigned the correct size of V.T to the identified circuit. Different Load types can be purchased to suit current load. Load Size amps (min/max) Max C.T Load 0.5-5A A A A A A A A Where the Load is constantly the maximum loading for the V.T, the next size up should be used. Invisible Systems Limited Page 6
Each C.T must be fitted in such a way that it follows the flow of current from the supply to the load side of the installation. An arrow on the C.T depicts the direction that it needs to be fitted. Cable fitted with jack plug The C.T splits and reconnects in a jigsaw configuration, after being opened it will only go back together in one way, check that the base and removed bar are lined up the correct way, excessive force will damage the equipment if fitted the incorrect way and invalidate any warranty associated with it. Referring to the method statement where practicable possible always use appropriate PPE and isolate the supply during the installation of this equipment. For Example Load Supply Invisible Systems Limited Page 7
4. Installation of Transmitter Battery For safety considerations, all wireless transmitters are transported with the internal battery disconnected. Usually this can be confirmed if the white connector is passing through the base. On first use it is therefore necessary to connect the battery following the steps below: 1. Remove the four screws at the base of the sensor. Then remove the base and the sealing gasket. 2. Carefully insert the small white plug into the PCB socket and ensure the cable passes through the notch to avoid pinching. See diagram below. Plug Notch 3. Replace the sealing gasket, cover and 4 screws. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN! Connection of CT s Once the CT s are fitted on the allocated cables it is necessary to fit the Wireless Transmitter to allow collection of and retrieval of data. Due to most cable ways being of metal construction it is advised that the cables from the CT s are ran out of the cableway or enclosure, using suitable glanding (min 32mm) and the Wireless transmitter fitted outside to ensure a stable signal strength and data transmission. Invisible Systems Limited Page 8
The Jack plug lead attached to each C.T is plugged into the Wireless Transmitter in the preferred order as shown below. The old colours are used to match with existing installations, harmonised colours in (). Phase 1 (brown) Phase 2 (black) Phase 3 (grey) 5. Checking operation Following installation of the wireless transmitter and CT s on to the cables to be monitored, it is suggested that the operation is checked to ensure the transmitter is being received by the Gateway A DIGITAL CLAMP METER TO MEASURE ACTUAL CURRENT FLOW, FOR EACH PHASE AND EACH SYSTEM WIRELESS METER, WILL PROVIDE EVIDENCE OF CURRENT FLOW AND THEREFORE ASSIST WITH LATER COMMISSIONING and that the CT s are all measuring consumption. Open Ultra RF Gateway Setup This should be located on the desktop of your laptop. On first use, if requested, select the USB lead being used and highlight for Name use. lead connection and select it in drop down list Invisible Systems Limited Page 9

Screen information being displayed. The Screen will show the transmitters it can see in range of the receiver, these can be sorted by sensor type or ID as per preference. Each Transmitter will show the following 1. Sensor ID 2. Transmitter Type 3. Battery Voltage 4. Values being received 5. Signal Strength and frequency It is important to check all of this information to confirm that each sensor is being seen by the gateway and at regular intervals in relation to (5). Blue colour dots show direct messages being received and Orange colour dots show messages received via repeaters. Correct setup and operation of Realtime-online, will require all the Sensor ID s and Transmitter types in conjunction with the Gateway ID. The RSSI is shown in dbm with a bar chart showing signal strength. This is an important parameter. The table below shows dbm ranges in relation to Signal strength. Invisible Systems Limited Page 11
Sensor Locations Typically, sensors can be expected to pass through 4 5 normal internal walls without difficulty. The following illustration shows how sensors which are hidden behind large metal objects like tanks or steel walls may have difficulty in transmitting to the gateway. Possible repeater location The range shown above reads -100dBm this is shown in the table as a Marginal signal therefore will need improving either by reviewing the transmitter location, moving the Gateway closer or adding a signal repeater in between transmitter and receiver. 13 6. Dashboard configuration Following successful login to Realtime-Online with your username and password, create new sensor (System > Sensor Setup > Create New Sensor) Important: Add the digit 1 for phase 1; 2 for Phase 2 etc, to the end of the SensorID e.g. if the actual sensor number is , you should enter Create an additional sensor for each phase i.e. in the example above, you would also need to create sensor numbers and Select Sensor Type = Electric. If you want this sensor to appear as the incoming mains on the portal, tick Mains. Select unit = kwh. Select Pulse 1 from dropdown. Select a Tariff, if applicable Leave Temp Offset blank unless you need to make a calibration adjustment Click Wireless Electric Meter, this will open up the CT configuration. Select the correct CT from the dropdown menu to match CT size fitted. Enter 0.01 as the Original PCF Notice that the Pulse Factor is automatically completed. Configure Alerts as required. Click Create Sensor Example: Invisible Systems Limited Page 13
