9 Interrupts of the ET 200S DI UC2.. V High Feature Digital Electronic Module The ET 200S DI UC2.. V High Feature Digital Electronic Module can trigger diagnostic interrupts. The OBs and SFCs mentioned below are explained in detail in the online help for STEP. Enabling Interrupts The interrupts are inhibited (not present) without appropriate parameter assignment. Assign parameters to the Interrupt Enable in STEP. Diagnostic Interrupt If you have enabled diagnostic interrupts, then active error events (initial occurrence of the error) and departing error events (message after troubleshooting) are reported by means of an interrupt. The CPU interrupts the execution of the user program and processes the diagnostics interrupt block (OB2). In the user program, you can call SFC51 or SFC59 in OB2 to obtain more detailed diagnostic information from the module. The diagnostic information is consistent until such time as OB2 is exited. When OB2 is exited, the diagnostic interrupt is acknowledged on the module. Ensuring a Wire Break When you ensure a wire break is enabled in diagnostics, any unused inputs must be biased to prevent them from triggering the module wire break. This can be accomplished by placing a resistor from the 2/ V terminal (,,, ) to the unused input. The resistor must provide greater than 0.5 ma of input current (see Sensor Switching in Specification Table). This ensures that enough current flows to prevent wire break detect. For wire break to function properly, a sensor must provide a minimum of 0.5 ma of current in the off state for the sensor to be detected as an active low and no wire break. Sensors that do not meet this requirement can be used if a resistor is placed across its sensor contact terminals to provide this level of current in the off state. 9
