3 SOLUTIONS FOR TODAY S CABLE MANAGEMENT CHALLENGES Modern buildings and refurbishment projects demand fl exible solutions for the safe and unsightly distribution of power and communication in teaching and working spaces. Laboratories and workshops are some of the most common situations where a cable trunking system running on top or below working surfaces is the best solution for power and data installations. This situation was the starting point for REHAU to complement its existing cable management product portfolio with a bench trunking range, which along with its market tested data perimeter trunking, makes REHAU an ideal partner for your cable management applications. REHAU, with its diverse range of market specifi c products and proven experience in health and education projects, has extensive knowledge in critical areas such as standards and regulations as well as technical requirements affecting cable management installations. 3

4 BENEFITS OF THE SYSTEM Robust modular profile The PROFILA Bench Trunking is a robust system based around a triangular shaped upvc main base profi le and a single lid, making installation faster and less expensive than alternative options. High impact resistant material and re-inforced design make PROFILA Bench Trunking the perfect solution for demanding applications where hard wear is the norm. V grooved channelling inside the profi le can be used as drilling guides, speeding up installation time. Added safety for dangerous environments The main base features robust ribs that raise the back and bottom walls up from the surface level. Spillages of dangerous materials can frequently occur in laboratories and workshops and this feature helps keep cables and accessories inside the trunking away from them. This greatly reduces the risk of health and safety hazards in learning and working environments. Single endcaps have an overlapping fi tting design which increases the tightness of the fi t and reduces the risk of liquids entering the trunking. Compatibility with our versatile adjustable socket boxes provide up to 48mm internal depth, allowing installation of larger electrical accessories. 4

5 MULTIPLE ALTERNATIVES Twin confi guration High confi guration The asymmetric design of PROFILA Bench Trunking makes it a fl exible system to suit different installation requirements. High configuration 104mm (h) x 90mm (d) This confi guration maximises the useful worktop area and is the recommended default orientation when continuous lengths of trunking are installed against a back wall and on top of a working surface. It is also recommended when back to back lengths are to be used. Low configuration 90mm (h) x 104mm (d) This orientation is recommended when available space above the worktop is limited i.e. under a window frame. Not recommended for back to back applications as the footprint size will take up a larger surface area. Please note internal and external corners come in High confi guration as standard. Low confi guration corners must be ordered specifying this requirement. Twin configuration 104mm (h) x 180mm (d) Suitable for power distribution across middle of worktops. It can easily connect to standard perimeter trunking, bench trunking or underfl oor systems. This confi guration can also be used on island locations allowing on-site customised lengths. 6 ANTIMICROBIAL TECHNOLOGY Antimicrobial option On specifi c projects all external components can be produced with antimicrobial properties embedded in the PVC material providing long-life protection against the most common types of bacteria. Tests have shown that products incorporating this technology at the time of manufacturing help reduce levels of bacteria including MRSA, E-Coli, Salmonella and Listeria on surfaces by up to 99%. Full compartment (5081mm 2 ) A pilot study carried out by BioCote and the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust compared bacterial counts in two outpatient departments. One of the departments was furnished with products incorporating the BioCote silver ion technology, which is now being used by REHAU. The other contained standard, untreated items. The results of the 18 month study, which was published in the Journal of Infection Prevention, showed that bacteria counts in the BioCote treated environment were 95.8% lower than those in the untreated department. Din 35 RAIL It allows cost effective way of fi tting accessories and attachments using the standard DIN 35 clip design.
