1 The innovative touch and proximity sensor. MIRRORMAID is an intelligent and innovative sensor system converting almost any object and material into touch and proximity sensitive objects. This is the pioneering, easy, quick and economical way to interactively control machines and computers. Switching as if by Magic Touching is understanding The MIRRORMAID electronic system was created for being used in various environments. The compact printed circuit board includes a microprocessor that converts metal surfaces and objects of different sizes into touch-sensitive items. This way it is possible to produce first-class touch sensors that are able to penetrate non-conductive material of a thickness of up to 400 mm. Moreover, MIRRORMAID is able to also inspect the surroundings for approaching individuals through an automatic interlinking with metallic objects that are in the actual surroundings of the sensors. And all this is possible without any time-consuming and expensive programming or calibrating. 2 The innovative touch and proximity sensor. Intelligent Touch- and Proximity- Sensors The heddier Touch- and Proximity -Sensors are based on the Morrormaid technology. Among other things, the capacitive touch-sensors automatically detect the approaching of human body parts. Sensor Mirrormaid Touch-Sensors can be regulated within a wide sensitivity range. The user is able to select from 3 different sensitivity levels. Depending on the sensor s configuration it is possible to achieve distances up to 40 cm. If desired, the distance can also be minimized to such a degree that the touch-sensitive exhibit has to be touched in order to activate the respective function. The user can choose from two different programmes. Switching as if by Magic 1) Sensor mode - performance analogous to sensing device Once a body part approaches the sensor zone the switch output is activated and a relay is switched on. As soon as the person moves away from the sensor zone the relay is immediately switched off. The sensor function is limited to a time span of max. 60 seconds. Applications: Any touch function Controlling of video and multimedia applications Proximity switch Safety switch Anti-theft device Controlling of technical exhibits 2) Toggle mode - performance identical with switch Function: Once a body part approaches the sensor zone the switch output is activated and a relay is switched on. Even if the person moves away from the sensor zone, the relay is still switched on. The relay is switched off as soon as the sensor is approached once more. The function may be repeated any time. 3 Different Fields of Application 1) Penetration of isolated material This is the most common application for touch-sensors. The sensor surface (normally a surface-sensor made of sheet copper or similar material) is installed at the rear of an isolating surface. The moment you touch the surface the contact is identified through the isolating material. Non metallic material (wood, glass, plastic) 2) Contacting of conductive material Switching as if by Magic Metallic object (old tools, modelcars etc.) 3) Capacitive injection into conductive materials Non metallic material (wood, glass, plastic) Conducting exhibit Different Forms of Sensors Here, the exhibit is directly transformed into a sensor. The exhibit has to be made up of a conductive material. Nevertheless, the exhibit may surely be coated with an isolating coat. Once the conductive exhibit is hooked up to the connection of the Mirrormaid Touch-Sensor electronics, the exhibit itself becomes a sensor surface. Depending on the exhibit s size and position it is possible to reach different distances. In this case, the touch-sensitive exhibit is positioned in front of the sensor surface. The injection is carried out in a capacitive manner. A new sensitive zone is built up around the exhibit. However, this zone is less sensitive than the injected surface. 4 Components of the MIRRORMAID product range: The MIRRORMAID product range consists of several coordinated components. These coordinated components implement the Stand-Alone application of the sensor electronics as well as a combination with the professional Flashplayer such as the Flashplayer Pro 1000i made by heddier or the hooking up of several sensors with a PC. The MIRRORMAID Kit (Product No.: MM-KIT) The MIRRORMAID kit features all components you will need to create your own touch-sensitive sensor situated in a compact plastic case. Electricity is conveyed by a regular 230 Volt 50 Hz AC hook-up. The sensory surface is simply attached by soldering. If you wish to operate the sensors separately from the case it is possible to extract it from the case and operate it via a sensor cable up a distance of 30 meters. It makes sense to apply the MIRRORMAID kit whenever the application only requires the implementation of only a few capacitive sensors and if you do not hook-up subsequently switched devices such as PCs and Flashplayers. The connecting cable is also active for approximation. EXT-Interface The EXT-Interface connects the components via a connecting cable if the mains adapter and the sensor electronic is taken out of the housing. The connecting cable is not included in the delivery. It is, however, available on demand in different lengths. 5 Mirrormaid Sensor (Product No.: MM-S) The MIRRORMAID sensor is connected with miscellaneous kinds of electrics. For this, the external interface EXT offers several control cables. The sensor electronic is also part of the MIRRORMAID kit. The hook-up of the MIRRORMAID sensor is realized through max. 30 meter connecting cable. The connecting cable s maximum length primarily depends on the cable s width and the hook-up of potentially required LEDs. Thanks to the low power input it is also possible to operate the sensor with rechargeable batteries or regular batteries. A control LED displays the switching status. It is possible to individually adjust the operating mode (push button or switch) as well as the sensitivity (high, middle, low). 6 Mirrormaid Adapter-Board 1000i (Product No.: MM-S) The Mirrormaid Adapter-Board 1000i is a high-performance extension for the Flashplayer FP- Pro 1000i. The circuit board is plugged into and subsequently screwed to the terminal strip of the Flashplayer. The Adapter-Board includes several interfaces for interactive sensors. Thus, it is possible to connect up to 18 Mirrormaid Sensors (article MM-S) and/or one Radar Sensor 1Z within only a few seconds. 16 of the Mirrormaid Sensors serve as interactive control inputs, 2 for controlling the volume. An alternative to Mirrormaid Sensors is the direct hook-up of mechanical pushbuttons. The power for the Radar and Mirrormaid Sensors is directly supplied via the Mirrormaid Adapter-Board 1000i. Additional mains adapters are not necessary. The hook-up to the Flashplayer FP-Pro 1000i is carried out via the standard terminal strip. The maximum length of the connecting cable for the Mirrormaid Sensors is 30 meters or even longer if you use appropriate cables. It is also possible to operate the Adapter-Board independently from the Flashplayer by using an additional connecting cable. Connecting cables are available on request. Thanks to the Mirrormaid Adapter-Board 1000i there are hardly any limits to the multimediaplanner s imagination. This way, exhibits and exhibition rooms can be equipped with a variety of different Mirrormaid Touch Sensors and may be directly hooked up to Flashplayer via the Adapter-Board 1000i.
