The company was established in Mackay in 1997 by brothers Andrew and Paul Galea. Under their leadership, Rock N Road Bitumen has grown from a small family business to a competitive force in the industry. Since being in business, Rock N Road Bitumen has worked with a variety of clients in many locations. We have successfully completed contract work for local councils, state and federal government departments, private contractors, mining companies and private householders. As industry leaders, we believe in being flexible and innovative. We have a team of experienced employees who combine valuable local knowledge of climate conditions with leading techniques and equipment. We are registered as a quality assured supplier with Main Roads, complying with all national standards and regulations for bitumen services. 3 SAFETY TRAINING ENVIRONMENT QUALITY ASSURANCE Rex Wallman Business Manager M: E: Rex has worked in the industry for the past 8 years. He started on the ground and has worked his way up to Business Manager through his dedication to safety, quality, the environment and training. The safety of all workers, plant, machinery and the public is the main focus for Rock N Road Bitumen. This is displayed through proactive leadership and comprehensive management systems. Management are also committed to the preservation of the environment and aim to minimise the footprint left by our workers through strong environmental policies and procedures. Rock N Road Bitumen proudly holds certifications for AS/NZS 4801:2001 Occupational Health and Safety, AS / NZS ISO 9001:2008 Quality Assurance Systems and AS / NZS ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems. Rock N Road Bitumen was the first Queensland road paving company to have achieved this under the new regulations. We have an on-site safety officer to ensure all Work Health and Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures are enforced, followed and understood. The safety officer is also available to offer any training or guidance needed out on site. HUMAN RESOURCES AND TRAINING Rock N Road Bitumen is dedicated to the training and advancement of its workers. We currently have two certified TAE40110 Trainers who deliver training packages for plant and machinery. Each new worker s skills and training needs are assessed annually. We can provide a sprayer and operator through to a comprehensive service where we sweep, spray, spread, roll, provide traffic control and supply all products. Rock N Road Bitumen will travel to assist you wherever needed. Our machinery fleet includes five bitumen sprayers that are capable of effectively fulfilling any spray sealing needs, whether for single or two coat bitumen seal, emulsion seal, primer seal or prime. Our machinery also includes a Volvo FM12 sprayer, which has a L tank backed up by a L dog. Also on hand is a tanker fleet that can supply over L per day every day - anywhere - allowing us to complete anything from a small carpark to a major highway. Rock N Road Bitumen have been providing consistently high quality, financially competitive bitumen services to Diamantina Shire Council for several years. The services provided are on time and comply with the specifications required. We have used Rock N Road on a variety of initial seals and reseals using either Cart / Heat / Spray or All Services for roads, footpaths and airports. We have not had a problem with workmanship on any of the sites to date. 5 ASPHALT LABORATORY Our laboratory ensures that we are providing a consistent and superior product. We have a wide range of testing procedures in both asphalt and spray sealing operations. From pavement permeability to degree of pre-coating, our laboratory staff have the knowledge and equipment to perform the task. He was previously Operations Manager with the company before taking on the Asphalt Plant Manager role. Dan has been involved with the design, construction and operations of the Asphalt plant. The plant has a production rate of 90T per hour. Joel is our Quality Assurance Rep. & Senior Laboratory Technician with 11 years experience working in Bituminous and Metrology laboratories. He brings with him an extensive range of laboratory skills and expert knowledge.
