3 uddle ugs Making the Quilt 1. lock Assembly Sew (1) 3 ½ x 43 Fabric strip to each side of the 23 x 43 Fabric A panel. Sew (1) 3 ½ Fabric square to each end of (1) 3 ½ x 23 Fabric strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A panel to make (1) A-lock (iagram 1). 3. Place (1) 3 Fabric square on the right side of (1) 3 x 5 ½ Fabric F strip, right sides together (iagram 3). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (iagram 3). Flip open the triangle formed and press (iagram 4). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance. iagram 3 iagram 4 A 4. Place another 3 Fabric square on the left side of the 3 x 5 ½ Fabric F strip, right sides together (iagram 5). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (iagram 5). Flip open the triangle formed and press (iagram 6). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance to make (1) F unit. make 4 2. iagram 1 Sew (1) 1 ½ x 49 Fabric strip to each side of the A-lock. Sew (1) 1 ½ x 31 Fabric strip to the top and to the bottom of the A-lock. Trim the block to measure 30 ½ x 50 ½ to make the enter lock (iagram 2). Trim to measure 30 ½ x 50 ½ after the Fabric borders are added F iagram 5 iagram 6 Repeat Steps 3-4 to make (4) F units total. Place (1) 1 ½ Fabric square on the top left corner of (1) 3 Fabric F square, right sides together (iagram 7). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (iagram 7). Flip open the triangle formed and press (iagram 8). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼ away from the sewn seam. iagram 7 iagram 8 7. Follow iagram 9 for the seam direction to add a 1 ½ Fabric square to the upper right corner of the 3 Fabric F square to make (1) F block (iagram 10). Sew (6) assorted locks together. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew (1) 5 ½ Fabric square to each end of the strips. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the enter lock. 10. Layer and quilt as desired. 15. Sew (1) 2 ½ x 60 ½ Fabric strip to each side of the enter lock. Sew (1) 2 ½ x 44 ½ Fabric strip to the top and to the bottom of the enter lock to make the quilt top. Sew the (6) Fabric J binding strips together, end to end with a 45-degree seams, to make the binding.
