Normal Washing: Embroidered articles are best washed at 60ºC/140ºF with a mild detergent. Never leave damp embroidered items folded or pressed together. This is particularly important for items washed for the first time. Do not tumble dry unless the item has been thoroughly rinsed. Never wring out an embroidered item. Iron embroidered articles on the reverse side between two cloths. Use a steam iron rather than spraying the embroidery or ironing over a damp cloth. Special Considerations: If dye is released into the water, continue to rinse the item until the water runs clear. Remove any stains only with solvents that do not contain bleach or dye remover. Wash embroidered items immediately after using any stain remover. Environmental protection laws occasionally necessitate the changes in dyes and dying processes. For these reasons, and despite maximum efforts, there is a possibility of minimal color differences. Under current German production legislation, Madeira's products are guaranteed free of harmful substances. High Temperature Wash: Due to their superior quality and color fastness, Madeira's viscose/rayon threads CAN be washed up to 95ºC/203º with a mild detergent. Detergents containing bleaching agent, peroxide or optical brighteners should not be used as these could cause discoloration. Storage: Embroidery threads are best stored away from excessive high or low temperatures, direct heat, humidity and direct sunlight. Recommended Needle Sizes: The following recommendations are guidelines for Madeira machine embroidery needles. It is necessary to consider the type and thickness of fabric in addition to the thread before selecting the needle point and size. 8 How to Embroider fine details and small lettering Madeira's fine viscose/rayon CLASSIC No.60, POLYNEON No.60 and FS No.50 provide the opportunity to create the best small lettering and fine detailed embroidery. 1. The design should be digitised specifically for a 60s thickness thread, whether for a part or whole of the design. Always advise your digitiser if you will be using a fine 60 (50) thread for a part or entire design. The design should then be digitised accordingly. 2. The correct NEEDLE for 60s thickness embroidery thread is a size 65 #9. 3. If you are embroidering lots of small lettering and fine details, we recommend to change the needle size to a # If you are embroidering Piqué Shirts etc. it's a good idea to step stitch a base in a tone on tone thread to improve the quality of the fine designs. 5. The absolute minimum size lettering using standard 40 thickness thread is 6-7mm. With 60s thickness, this can be reduced to 3mm, without losing design clarity. 6. The colours available in 60s thickness are marked with BLUE DOTS on the Madeira CLASSIC and POLYNEON shadecards. Madeira also offers the metallic thread FS no. 50 which is also suitable for very fine lettering and details. 9 Facts Advantages + benefits = extra added value When embroidering large areas of a design, it is recommended to work with the thicker thread, CLASSIC no. 30. Its voluminous characteristics reduce stitches and embroidery times. Examples: No.30 Illustration 1 Illustration 2 The design in illustration 1 has been embroidered with thread count no. 40. Total stitches: The yellow area of the design in illustration 2 has been punched for thread count no. 30. Total stitch count in the embroidery is (around 20% fewer stitches!). Production time saved on each design is 1,5 minutes, calculated on the basis of a machine speed of 900 stitches/min. Due to its higher coverage, the count no. 30 allows stitches to be saved. CLASSIC no. 30 is available in 180 single colours: these are marked with a red dot on the MADEIRA CLASSIC shade card. CLASSIC no. 30 can easily be embroidered using the standard needle size #75. We would be delighted to send you samples of CLASSIC no. 30 on request.

How to...stitch with metallic threads Don't be afraid of using metallic threads for embroidery and decorative effects. They may be more sophisticated and technical than Viscose or Polyester standard yarns as their construction is naturally more complicated. However they are easy to embroider if you follow these hints: 1. When using metallised threads, embroidery should not be too dense. Embroidery programs should consequently be digitised or changed accordingly. 2. Reduce the embroidery machine speed in order to prevent thread breaks and to achieve an even embroidery. 3. Reduce thread tension - a high tension may cause problems with metallised threads. (Exception: Supertwist no. 12 using this thread it is recommendable to slightly increase the tension) 4. Change the embroidery needles before you start embroidering with metallised threads. Choose a suitable needle with a large eye. If in doubt, it's better to use a bigger needle rather than a small one. MADEIRA offers a special info sheet about this topic. 5. Due to their complex structure, metallic threads may not unwind as softly as standard rayon or polyester embroidery threads. MADEIRA can provide useful hints: The practical cone nets (fig. 1) ensure steady unwinding from the reel. The spool tops (fig. 2+3) provide a larger unwinding diameter for spools. 6. MADEIRA is pleased to support you in implementing your ideas and provides you with colour cards, samples and test programs for different thread counts and material compositions free of charge. 15 Embroidery thread with a wool appearance Perfect production every time, everywhere Burmilana is a speciality embroidery thread which has the characteristics and appearance of wool, giving a hand-crafted look. It is particularly suitable for stitching onto knitwear and looks beautiful as chenille, loop pile or chain stitch embroideries. For fashion, knitted goods, ethnic, country style or traditional folk costumes, embroidery with Burmilana completes the 'wool on wool' natural effect. Shade card No.1 2 dtex 330 x 2 den 300 x 2 Art. 16 How to...stitch with BURMILANA The special effect wool mix BURMILANA thread enables you to produce beautiful designs with an almost handstitched appearance. If you have never used Burmilana before, you will be pleasantly surprised by the results! Because it is thicker, and of a different texture to most threads in every day use, there are several points we would like to advise you of, to ensure optimum results when stitching with BURMILANA: 1. DIGITISING BURMILANA is a number 12 thickness thread. Most disks are digitised for a standard No 40 thickness of thread, unless you advise the digitiser otherwise! Therefore, please ensure your disk has been correctly digitised for BURMILANA no NEEDLES Recommended needles are MADEIRA No 100. MADEIRA needles are specially produced for embroidery machines and have an elongated eye. This means thicker threads can pass through this elongated eye easier than through standard needle eyes. Since BURMILANA is often used on knitwear, sweats, etc, our light ballpoint system R-SUK is the ideal needlepoint. 3. CARE BURMILANA is made from beautiful merino wool and acrylic and can be washed up to 45 C, although 30 C is generally sufficient. 4. MACHINE SETTINGS BURMILANA wool' is so much thicker than a standard 40 rayon or polyester thread, therefore machine speeds need to be slightly reduced. And of course tensions should be adjusted to accommodate the difference in thickness and texture. Design with Madeira CLASSIC no. 40 rayon embroidery thread Design with BURMILANA no. 12 'wool mix' heavier weight embroidery thread BURMILANA no. 12 is a valuable addition for your embroidery and decorative stitch designs. The Burmilana range has 214 beautiful shades, including multi and melange colours. Burmilana offers fast and efficient production to create fascinating hand stitched effects from a machine embroidered design. The difference between embroideries using standard 40 thickness thread, like Madeira CLASSIC or POLYNEON and BURMILANA 12, can be seen in the embroidered samples on the right side.

Special water soluble film AVALON Some fabrics and fabric textures, in particular knitwear and heavy loop towelling, are quite difficult to embroider. These fabrics might be stretchy or normal embroidery stitches may disappear into the rib or pile. Thanks to Avalon from Madeira, this can be avoided. Avalon is a water soluble film, which is cut and framed alongside the base fabric. Since it lies between the fabric and the embroidery design, Avalon provides the necessary extra stability for wide rib knitwear and stretchy fabrics. And it means the number of underlay stitches can be reduced. AVALON can be pulled off the embroidery and any residue removed with a steam iron. Picture 1: A typical problem with embroidery onto knitwear/towelling - jagged edges and distorted image. Picture 2: Quality without compromise - Embroidery with AVALON: clear contours and clear detailed image. Picture 3: MADEIRA AVALON hooped with the fabric guarantees high quality embroideries. 28 ...for smooth production AVALON Plus New: AVALON Plus In the same 'family' as AVALON, the material AVALON Plus is much thicker and has a textile, woven structure: AVALON Plus is easy to position - it does not slip away! AVALON Plus can be embroidered onto directly, using the correct embroidery programme. Once the fabric is dissolved, only the beautiful stitch effect remains! AVALON Plus can be used as a backing fabric, as a substitute for standard non-wovens. It is hooped under the base fabric and stabilises the embroidery during stitching. The special advantage with this method is that after the first wash of the embroidered article AVALON Plus completely dissolves without a trace, leaving a completely clean back to the embroidery. Very often, if non-woven backing is used, some residue remains, spoiling the appearance and comfort when wearing the garment. 29 Heat dissolvable film How many times have you been asked to produce embroidery without residual non-woven fabrics on the reverse? Or painstakingly picked away at non-woven backings to ensure nothing was left behind? Or had such difficult fabric or designs to embroiderer that you have layered up the backing and/or been left with puckering or needle damage? With MadeirAS Film, and Avalon, this could all be a thing of the past... MadeirAS Film is a heat sensitive film made from 100 micron or 30 micron Polyolefin - 100% environmentally friendly and does not contain formaldehyde. MadeirAS film has unique advantages. It is removed completely by heat. Due to its composition, MadeirAS Film is a useful and versatile embroidery aid for everything from fine and stretchy fabrics to standard cotton ones. With MadeirAS film, even problem fabrics can be embroidered without puckering and its use can eliminate the necessity to use adhesive spray. Instructions for use: MadeirAS film is straightforward and simple to use. It can be used for the MadeirAS Technique (see brochure) or as a normal backing or topping fabric. MadeirAS film is removed quickly by heat applied by a heatpress, transfer press or hand held iron at temperatures of 120ºC - 140ºC, for only a few seconds, leaving no residue behind. 30 How to A simple method for embroidering badges Avoid the necessity of cutting out the finished badge! 1. Fix the MadeirAS film in the frame of your embroidery machine. Depending on the structure of your embroidery program, it might be necessary to use several layers of MadeirAS film. To fix the MadeirAS film: If you use one layer the smooth side should be on the top. If you use 2 layers the rough sides should be one on top the other. If you use 3 layers the rough side should be on top of the smooth of layer 2. ill After fixing the layers of film, embroider the outline of the badge with fixing stitches (ill. 1). ill Within the outline, embroider a grid support of running stitches, to stabilise the field for the filling stitches (ill. 2). 4. Embroider the filling stitches (ill. 3). ill Embroider the motif or characters of your badge (ill. 4). 6. Embroider a 2,5-3 mm edging around the outline (see point 2) with satin stitches. The stitches should be as close together as possible. This will perforate the film and the badge can easily be removed (ill. 5). ill If the stitches are not close enough, the badge can not be torn away from the film. Any residue of film can be removed by ironing or hot pressing. ill. 5

How to Removal of the -Films Standard iron: 1. First very carefully tear away the excess film from around the embroidery, without putting pressure onto the stitching or fabric. It is then easier to iron away the residue of the MadeirAS film on the embroidery instead of the whole film. 2. Ideal temperature: 140 C (= level 2 = **). 3. Iron the embroidery for 5-10 seconds with circular movements. In this way the MadeirAS film will be melted away by the temperature and rubbed away through the circular movements. 4. Should some residue still remain on the embroidery, the temperature should be slightly increased when ironing the next embroidery. A better result can possibly be achieved ironing at 200 C (= level 3 = ***). In this case, at a temperature of 200 C, 3-5 seconds should be enough to remove the MadeirAS film completely. 5. Heat-tests run with all Madeira threads including polyester thread, have shown no problem when ironing for seconds at a temperature of 140 C, nor when ironing at 200 C for 10 seconds. However, please test that the fabric itself will withstand the temperature. With the heat press: 1. First very carefully tear away the MadeirAS film from the embroidery (only so far as possible). 2. Then leave the embroidery under the heat press for around seconds. NB: Madeira is working successfully with a heat press from INSTA. This type of heat press has only one heat plate on the top (on the market you can also find heat presses with an additional heat plate at the bottom). Madeira uses the machine settings as follows: Temperature: ca. 120 C Pressure = 0 = no pressure 3. The MadeirAS film will be melted away and the remains will be stuck on the heat plate of the heat press. No residue should remain on the embroidery. If it is not the case then it might be that the temperature of the heat press was too low or that the embroidery has not been left under the press for long enough. 4. At the end (but not necessarily every time) the MadeirAS film can be scraped off with a spatula, whilst still warm. 5. Heat tests run with all Madeira threads, including polyester thread, have shown no problem at a temperature of 120 C for 1, 2, 3, 5 and even 10 minutes. However, please test that the fabric itself will withstand the temperature.

E-ZEE backing materials To achieve high-quality embroideries, the background fabric should be stabilized with a backing material. The E-ZEE programme from Madeira offers a wide selection of backing materials to fulfil all requirements. These are the advantages of E-ZEE: optimum stabilisation different weights quick and easy to remove very soft excellent price/value for money The E-ZEE range includes cut-away and tear-away backing materials in different compositions and weights. Also, fusible backing materials are available to better stabilise, i.e. stretchy knitwear. The overview of the range: CMX and SMX are high quality and very stable wet-laid backings. The production process of these materials allows a regular alignment and distribution of the fibres. This is why these all-round backings are resistant and soft at the same time. WEB is a soft and resistant cut-away backing material. Due to its particular structure, it can be used also underneath light colored fabrics as it does not show through. WEB is the perfect solution to stabilize knitwear and piqué. The PES cut away backing materials are available in a hard and a soft version. PES hard is especially suitable for embroidery on caps. Well established in the market due to its good value for money and the excellent tear-away characteristics, Cotton Soft is designed to be less stretchy than most classic backings, therefore it will tear easily if stretched too much in a border frame. The huge advantage of Cotton Soft is that any remain will be completely soft after the first washing, as Cotton Soft is of 100% cotton. The self adhesive Stick On is the best solution for fabrics or cuttings, which need to be stabilized but cannot be framed. All is easy with E-ZEE! Don t hesitate, try them now! Samples free of charge are at your disposal. And don t forget that MADEIRA has the patented embroidery technique for backing free embroidery production: the MadeirAS All Soft Embroidery. 34 How to Tips on the use of the E-ZEE backing materials The backing materials are used to stabilize the background fabrics and help to improve the look of the embroidery. It is customary to frame fabric and backing as tight as a drum. The decision about which backing is selected is very individual but should depend on the fabric and on the design to be embroidered. For your convenience, Madeira can offer a few helpful tips on the use of backing materials: Black backing materials should be used only to stabilize dark fabrics, otherwise a black backing might show through light coloured or flimsy fabrics. MADEIRA offers backing materials in both black and white. The weight of the backing material should match/fit the quality of the fabric. For fine fabrics lighter backing material should generally be chosen, whilst for heavy fabrics, thicker backing or a couple of layers of a thinner one are both acceptable. A backing which is too heavy can cause unsightly puckering. After embroidering the backing materials can be cut away or torn away from the reverse of the embroidery. The choice of a cut-away or a tear-away backing material depends on the embroidery work to be done (i.e. caps, badges, shirts, etc.) To better stabilize stretchy knitwear it is recommended to use fusible or self adhesive backing material. Using these types eliminates the necessity to frame, therefore frame marks on fabrics will be avoided, so this method is especially useful for velvet or velour. The following overview shows which backing materials from the E-ZEE range are suitable for which fabrics and usages. These tips are only to be considered as rough guidelines: Fabrics to be embroidered Wet-laid backings CMX SMX Standard backings WEB PES Cotton Soft Blouses / shirts Light fabrics (i.e. fine cotton and viscose, etc.) 35 g 35 g 40 g soft Medium fabrics (i.e. cotton) 40 g, 50 g 42 g, 50 g 50 g 50 g Heavy fabrics (i.e. denim) 75 g, 80 g 80 g 80 g soft 60 g, 80 g Polo-shirts / stretchy knitwear (i.e. pullover)* 50 g 80 g soft 50 g (fusible) T-Shirts 35 g, 40g 35 g, 42 g 50 g 40 g soft 50 g Sweatshirts 75 g, 80 g 80 g 50 g 50 g (fusible) Coats / trousers 50 g, 75 g, 80 g 80 g 80 g soft 60 g, 80 g Caps 80 g 80 g 80 g hard Badges 80 g 80 g 80 g soft 80 g * self adhesive Stick On can also be used

How to E-ZEE Stick On (Self adhesive backing) Cut a piece of E-ZEE Stick On larger than the frame. Place the entire piece, including the protective paper, into the frame, with the protective paper on top, as in figure one. Before placing the frame on the machine, cut out a small piece of backing from the centre where the stitch plate would be. This should be at least as big as the embroidery design (see figure 2). Fig. 1 Using a fine blade, cut a 2 cm wide border from the protective paper only around the resulting hole, and then pull this off, as in figure 3. The Sticky border can be used several times. Stable base material: On Stick On it is possible to stick several layers of backing material. The garment or the background fabric is then placed on top and embroidered. Open Weave/knitwear/stretch fabric: a) Iron on a piece of fusible backing, larger than the embroidery design, onto the reverse of the fabric and then fix this onto the glue side of the E-ZEE Stick On border in the frame, or b) Place a piece of E-ZEE Stick On onto the open weave fabric, then stick onto the glue side of the E-ZEE Stick On border in the frame (see figures 4 and 5). 36 E-ZEE Comfort-Wear Comfort-Wear is a fusible, bi-elastic jersey interlining to cover the reverse of embroideries, to protect the skin from potential scratching or irritation. The bi-elasticity and softness of Comfort-Wear provides excellent wearing comfort, allowing maximum freedom of movement. Comfort-Wear is a very light fabric and thus will not show through the clothing. Comfort-Wear is fixed onto the reverse of the embroidery by using a heat press or iron. The adhesive agent of Comfort-Wear will be activated again each time it is ironed and hence will stick much longer than comparable products. E-ZEE Comfort-Wear is available in black and white. Comfort-Wear Material: 100% Polyester Weight: 51g/m 2 Make-Up: Rolls of 50cm x 100m Available in black and white Art. No.: 051CW50W (white) Art. No.: 051CW50S (black) Processing: Due to the spherical adhesive agent the coated side is rougher and therefore clearly visible. Lay the coated side of Comfort-Wear onto the reverse of the embroidery and fix it using a heat press or iron. To protect the embroidery and the fabric/garment, we strongly recommend placing a separate cloth under the main embroidery face. Optimal fixing conditions: Heat press: Temperature: C Pressure: 4-6 bar Duration: approx. 15 sec. Iron: Temperature: 2 points with maximum steam Pressure: as strong as possible Duration: approx. 30 sec. Due to the variety of temperature resistance and finish of different fabrics, it is essential to run tests before starting production. 38 Temporary adhesive spray MSA 1100 An essential spray for temporary positioning of appliqués and cut pieces. The advantages: > High Volume contents - 350g per can - more than most 500ml cans > Adhesive action sustained for a whole hour > New: higher strength adhesive > New: light citrus odour > Excellent price & very economical to use Order MSA 1100 Temporary Adhesive Spray today and see the benefits Please Note: Minimum Order Quantity: 1 box of 12 cans Article No: 025MSAN Special prices for high quantities available on request. Due to transport regulations, the spray may be delivered separately from thread orders. Please refer to the two 'how to use MSA 1100' leaflets for recommendations for use and spray distances

How to Use MSA 1100 temporary spray adhesive 1. ALWAYS TEST THE FABRIC BEFORE USING MSA 1100, OR ANY TYPE OF SPRAY BEFORE PRODUCTION AND REFER TO OUR 'HOW TO USE ADHESIVE SPRAY MSA SPRAY DISTANCES' LEAFLET FOR FURTHER INFORMATION 2. Shake the can well before use. 3. Where possible, use adhesive sprays in a separate area, away from all machinery. Even though it is unseen by the naked eye, fine mist from adhesive spray could adversely affect machine parts, needles, hoops and table surfaces. If using close to the machine, clean the machine and both sides of the hoops regularly. This helps to prevent a build up especially around the hoop screws. 4. Where possible, spray the appliqué or cut piece and not the base material. 5. Spray from the recommended distance, around 20cm, in short bursts. 6. Wipe away any excess immediately with spirit cleaner! 7. If any stains remain, do not attempt to wash or dry clean, as this will 'fix' the stains in place. Should this occur, please contact Madeira and/or your fabric supplier for advice! 8. Again - always test ALL fabrics for suitability! Nowadays there are many different types of materials, with a variety of finishes and some extremely delicate fabrics. Even if the spray is used correctly, certain fabrics could react badly and possible staining could occur. The list below shows fabrics most likely to cause trouble: - Silk - Velour - Imitation Leather - Technical Textiles Please pay special attention to testing these fabrics! 9. There is always a certain risk of staining. Due to the fact we have no control over its use, Madeira cannot be held responsible for MSA 1100 causing or resulting in staining, other problems or disputes. 10. Madeira temporary adhesive spray MSA 1100 is used widely worldwide. With the correct testing and application, you should enjoy trouble free production!

How to...use adhesive spray MSA 1100 When using adhesive spray, the aim is always to obtain just enough sticking strength in the area concerned to position and hold cut pieces or appliqués in place whilst embroidering. To ensure clean, safe and trouble free use, it is very important to follow the recommendations below for correct spraying distance.* Adhesive substances, solvents and gas are released by spraying. If you are too close to the material the positive pressure of the gas mixture is so strong that the constituents of the can are not properly mixed. As a result, extreme pressure concentrates on the material and the desired effect is not obtained. (Figs. 1 and 2) The adhesive constituents should lightly lie on the cloth and then evaporate. Therefore it is very important to keep the spraying distance according to the recommendation. Usually the appliqué should be sprayed, not the base fabric. As the spray can be used for all types of fabrics, this is not a problem. But bear in mind if a very fine cloth is sprayed from too short a distance it may become completely soaked. Sprayed at the correct distance however, the gas mixture spreads with a considerably lower pressure and fulfils two tasks: it transports the adhesive agents, and at the same time reduces the liquid released to fine particles of spray. (Fig. 3) Fig. 1. Too close for spraying, high pressure and fabric becomes wet Fig. 2. Again too close, constituents not mixed A temporary adhesion, is only required on the surface of the cloth. This effect can be obtained with the correct spraying distance of approx 20 cm (8 inches). Fig. 3. Ideal spraying distance, lower pressure gives perfect mix of constituents

The Madeira Color Definition Package (CDP) version 2, opens up a wealth of design opportunities, at very low cost. All you need is a PC with Windows 95 or above to load the CDP, then you can: - Create an image of a worked embroidery in true Madeira colour combinations on your own original fabric - Select colours from electronic shadecards for Madeira CLASSIC viscose rayon including multicolors and ombré, PolyNeon polyester and Burmilana wool mix thread - Quickly calculate thread requirements and costings without having to digitise - Print, or send the design by - anywhere in the world It's easy and straightforward to use, even with only a basic knowledge of embroidery Working with Graphic Designs: - Inside the CDP is a bank of graphic designs that can be utilised - Your own graphics or images can be scanned in, imported and read in all main formats - jpg, tif, bmp, etc - The image can be made to simulate real embroidery in Satin and/or various Step Stitches - Your own background fabric can be scanned in or you can select from the background fabrics in the system, then the embroidery viewed in a true setting - The designs can be presented in frames of different shapes and sizes - All colours as listed above from the Madeira shadecards, are available for selection in your design - The first exercise for thread requirements and costs can be quickly and accurately calculated - The design can be printed out and/or forwarded by in jpg format Abb. 1 Abb. 2 Abb. 3 Picture 1: The original graphic will be coloured with actual Madeira colours and each section filled with simulated embroidery stitches Picture 2: Worked sections showing features and outlines of the sample can be transformed into stitch simulations Picture 3: The finished design on either a system or scanned in background fabric

How to Estimate stitch counts for different base fabrics Color Definition Package 2 - Hints for Stitch Count calculation: The Madeira Color Definition Package (CDP) can be used to calculate the estimated stitch count of an embroidered sample. All embroidery is unique but there are standard definitions which enable a reasonably accurate calculation to be achieved. However, since the CDP is clearly not a digitising system, it cannot take into consideration the varying number of underlay stitches required, as this varies from fabric to fabric. We have therefore provided the following guidelines for stitching onto different fabrics with Satin and Filling Stitches. A percentage is shown, which should be added to the stitch count provided in the CDP and will ensure a closer estimation: With Satin Stitch: Standard base fabric: no underlay stitching, around 45 stitches/cm, 2.5mm Satin Stitch width. Piqué: 2 x central and 2 x zigzag underlay stitching, around 70 stitches/cm. Add around 50% to stitch count given in CDP. Denim: 2 x central underlay stitching, around 50 stitches/cm. Add around 20% to stitch count given in CDP. Knitwear: 1 x central and 1 x zigzag underlay stitching, around 60 stitches/cm. Add around 30% to stitch count given in CDP. Scale of Designs: 1:4-1:5

How to Estimate stitch counts for different base fabrics With Filling Stitches (Step Satin, Step 1/1, Sine Wave, Half Wave, Random Step) Standard fabric: No underlay stitching, around 135 stitches/cm 2. Piqué: 1 x outline stitching around design and narrow net as underlay stitching, around 190 stitches/cm 2. Add around 50% to stitch count given in CDP. Denim: 1 x outline around design, around 140 stitches/cm 2. Add around 20% to stitch count given in CDP. Knitwear: 1 x outline around design and wide net as underlay stitching, around 170 stitches/cm 2. Add around 30% to stitch count given in CDP. Scale of Designs: 1:4-1:5

ACCESSORIES Cone holder The wooden cone holder has space for 24 cones. The ideal design and size allows additional holders to be stacked either vertically or horizontally for optimum space utilisation. Cone net Cone stockings or nets prevent thread falling down the cone either on the machine or in storage. Furthermore they reduce stati charging. Madeira cone nets are available, on request, free of charge. Combination spool and cone stands Using Madeira combi spool/cone stands, you can easily change from spools to cones as the combi stand fits all.

Support from the very beginning ACCESSORIES Starting up in the embroidery business is intensive and complicated enough. To take away the headaches of where to source consumables after your new machine is delivered, Madeira has compiled Starter Packs and Starter Kits. In fact, everything an embroiderer needs at the outset and at an attractive and economical price. 47 The machine neutral automatic frame system for the automated badge production AFS is an optional special frame system to be installed on your embroidery machine. Within this frame the embroidery is realised on endless and disposable Pre-Frames (E-ZEE PreFrames). Badges and name patches are automated embroidered in these PreFrames onto a surface of 12 x 12 cm of a special film. Manual cutting can be avoided as the finished embroidery series will be simply popped out of the special foil and no further reworking will be necessary. Weak points of conventional methods: The cutting of finished embroideries by laser is still not accurate enough So called Merrow edging realised in a separate work step are timeconsuming and therefore not ideal The demand for embroidered badges, emblems, name patches and logos is still growing. In the embroidery industry the production of such embroideries is a special field of activity. Only a more flexible and efficient production can satisfy the increased demand. Everybody who wants to open up this area should use a higher grade of automation. AFS is the perfect and easiest option for high-quality emblems! Advantages: Time saving in the production Due to the automation the machine staff can attend to other tasks Several applications no limitations regarding design, format and extraordinary embroidery edging Additional creativity by mixing the threads Flexible production of the quantities required: 13 or 27 pieces are possible Embroideries can be produced in advance and completed in a second step with individual names etc. AFS is suitable for single-head as well as smaller multi-head embroidery machines (up to 8 heads) and for arm and bridge type machines. All machines need the same AFS Hardware. Only the mounting bars vary according to the respective machine type....and all other major machine brands!
