1 February 1934 Work Report Prepared by Charlie Janze Lineman for the Dominion Telegraph Service Stationed at Yukon Telegraph Cabin No. 8 on Muskaboo Creek, tributary of upper Nass River Work Report Eighth Cabin North Section Feb st At 7:30 am weather snowing and mild. North from ninth cabin to 41 mile with Sutherland for wire. Met Tiegen at 41 mile and he came south to assist in repairs, arrived back at ninth cabin 5:30 pm with two coils of wire about 300 pounds. 2 nd Snowing heavy and very wet, south at 8 am with Sutherland and Tiegen bringing two coils of wire, string out wire across slide. Used all wire at wire cache this point and wire packed along from 12 mile. Was able to salvage some wire at slide, short about 500 feet. Returned to Ninth Cabin at 5:40 pm. 3 rd Weather cloudy. South at 8 am with Sutherland and Tiegen. Picked up part of wire at Ninth Cabin and some old wire at cable crossing. Closed break at slide at 11:30 am. Worked at slide making Temporary Repairs, used 8 side blocks and 12 insulators. Replaced wire on 10 tree poles, returned to Ninth Cabin 5 pm. Found wire still open south. 4 th At 8 am, weather part clear, left Sutherland at Ninth Cabin. South with Tiegen for open wire. Found about half a mile of line wire taken out by snow slide at 16 mile and the 16 mile refuge cabin completely smashed and wiped out by slide. Was able to salvage quite a bit of wire and part of the wire cache. Strung out all wire on hand to find out how much needed. Had Sutherland on phone from slide at 2:30 pm. Sent from Ninth Cabin to 41 mile to bring back what wire left there, about 30 pounds, returned to Ninth Cabin at 5 pm. 5 th Weather cloudy. Sutherland arrived Ninth Cabin with wire at 9:45 am. South at 10 am with Sutherland and Tiegen, bringing wire from 41 mile,what was left at Ninth Cabin and a couple other short pieces. Closed break at 16 mile, 2:30 pm, unable to get battery from south. Continued south with Tiegen, arrived 12 mile 5:45 pm. Sutherland returned to Ninth Cabin. 6 th Snowing. South 8 am, with Tiegen from wire break by small snowslide near little closed break and had south battery. Returned to 12 mile at 11:30 am. From 1 pm to 5 pm work at slide on little summit pulling wire out of snow and packing out pickets and placing wire on same, replaced wire on 4 poles, returned to 12 mile at 5:30 pm. 7 th North with Tiegen at 8:45 am. Worked at 16 mile slide placed wire on 8 tree poles, used six new side blocks and 10 insulators, arrived Ninth Cabin at 6 pm. Found wire open south snowing heavy and very wet. 8 th Weather cloudy and wet. South at 7:30 am for open wire, found wire broken by falling tree three miles south of Ninth Cabin at south end of big slide, closed break at 10 am and returned to Ninth Cabin 1:30 pm. 2 February 1934 Work Report Prepared by Charlie Janze Lineman for the Dominion Telegraph Service Stationed at Yukon Telegraph Cabin No. 8 on Muskaboo Creek, tributary of upper Nass River 9 th and 10 th remained at Ninth Cabin washing baking and shovelling snow off cabin. 11 th North to 41 mile, Echo Lake section, removed one tree from wire. 12 th North from 41 Mile, 2 miles pulled wire out of snow and cut few branches touching wire. 13 th South to Ninth Cabin. 14 th Remained at Ninth Cabin. 15 th South to 12 mile removed 1 tree from wire. 16 th South to 9 mile, worked at slide between little summit and 9 mile replaced wire on 6 poles and 3 pickets. 17 th South to 4 mile, pulled wire out of snow in four places on big summit, placed wire on 2 pickets. 18 th Worked at slide south of 4 Mile, placed wire on 7 tree poles, used 4 insulators and 5 side blocks. 19 th Remained at 4 mile cutting wood. 20 th South to Station. 21 st to 28 th Remained home washing, baking, filling snowshoes, cutting wood etc. Travelling heavy distance 92 miles C.P.
