Instructions for use i-motion e-press issued August
Instructions for use i-motion e-press in VITA * classical- und special colors Material and Indication The i-motion e-press pressable ingots base on a high strength glass ceramic. Coloration was made on the base of VITA classical shades A1 D4 (medium translucency) and in special shades (dark and light translucency). E-press is only intended for dental applications and for use by trained professionals. Mechanical strength and optical properties qualify e-press to press all ceramic single unit restorations (anterior and molar crowns, veneers, inlays, partial crowns/onlays) and three unit anterior bridges, three unit praemolar bridges including second praemolar as terminal post. Respect carefully all minimum wall thicknesses and connector cross sections mentioned. Pressed objects may be completed in layering or staining technique with i-motion zirkon layering porcelain and stains ZT or shades ZT and glaze ZT. Advise against use of materials and handling (Contraindications): - Combination with materials beside the mentioned i-motion products and/or materials from foreign manufacturers. - Manufacturing of non-mentioned restorations. - Manufacturing of restorations with smaller wall thicknesses and connectors cross sections than mentioned. Caution: Dental ceramic and complete ceramic restorations made of glass ceramics are not recommended for patients with bruxism or parafunction or patients with substantially reduced residual dentinition. Overview e-press ingots i-motion e-press pressable ingots for different finishing techniques are offered in three ranges of translucency; ingots light for staining technique, ingots medium for staining or layering technique and ingots dark for layering technique - In dark translucency 8 different ingot colours (1-5, 1+, 2+, 3+) are available to produce restorations in layering technique. - In medium translucency ingots are available in 16 V-shades A1-D4 for staining and layering technique. In this range additional three ingot colours (BL 1 3) cover bleached shades (BSL). - Most transparent light ingots are basically intended to manufacture Inlays, Onlays and Veneers, finished in staining technique. In principle any allowed indication could be manufactured from any ingot. For esthetical reasons following combinations for different finishing technique and indications are recommended. technique indication translucency partial anterior molar staining cut-back layering veneer inlay crown crown crown bridge light medium dark - 2 -
Preparation guideline and minimum restoration thickness The preparation of the tooth hard tissue follows the common rules for all ceramic restorations: Preparation of a deep chamfer or shoulder with rounded inner edge Rounded edges and angles Preparation of retentive surfaces and sufficient preparation height for conventional cementation Minimum wall thickness for the indicated restorations and finishing techniques and connector cross sections are given in following table: staining cut-back layering veneer inlay onlay crown three-unit bridge anterior molar anterior praemolar circular Incisal/occlusal circular labial/occlusal circular Incisal/occlusal In principle anatomical reduced tooth shape connector cross section max. pontic width Caution: 50% of the total restoration dimension must be made in high strength pressable ceramic! In case of excess space always compensate the dimensions in high strength pressable ceramic e-press and not in layering porcelain. Model preparation - Prepare a segmented plaster working model as usual. - According to the preparation spacer is applied in one or two layers. - For partial crowns, crowns and veneers apply two layers up to 1mm apical of the preparation margin. - For Inlays and Onlays apply two layers to the walls and three layers to the bottom up to 1mm distance to the preparation margin. Wax up - Wax objects are contoured from purely organic waxes, firing residue less. - Contour according desired finishing technique. - Consider anatomical form and functional detail of occlusal surfaces. - Avoid overcontouring, especially in the marginal area. - Respect minimum wall thicknesses and the proportion of press ceramic and layering ceramic. - For cut-back and layering technique create reduced anatomical forms and avoid sharp edges or tips
Sprueing Attach a wax sprue (Ø 3-4 mm, length 4 6 mm) at the thickest part of the wax object. Round up the connection between sprue and object and between ring system and sprue. Attach sprue always in flow direction. Sprue and wax object must not be longer than 16 mm. Keep a minimum distance between silicone ring and wax object of about 10 mm. The cervical margins of the wax objects always point to the silicone ring. spued wax objects wax objects, placed in muffle ring Weight the wax objects with attached sprues: - Up to max. 0.7 g wax weight 1 Ingot - Up to max. 1.9 g wax weight 2 Ingots - 4 -
- Investing Please follow carefully the instructions of the investment manufacturer. Fill investment bubble free in the silicone ring. Remove excess investment and take good care of a upright standing. Filling of investment Muffle with ring gauge Muffle with floorformer Completely filled with investment - 5 -
Preheating - Please follow carefully the instructions of the investment manufacturer. - Investment rings must be preheated at least for 60 min at 850 C in the preheating furnace. - Caution: Place ingots and single-use plungers without preheating in the muffle before entering the press furnace with the muffle! Pressing Example: Vario Press 300e (company Zubler, Ulm, Germany): 100 g ring B 700 C / T 60 C / T 910 C / H 15min / Press time 3 min / low pressure 200 g ring B 700 C / T 60 C / T 930 C / H 15min / Press time 3 min / low pressure LDS advance press modus - Before pressing, please start the programme of the empty furnace once, to assure complete heating of all furnace parts. - When press furnace is prepared, open the press furnace during take-out of the muffle ring from the preheating furnace - Place ingot and plunger in the ring. Put the ring in upright position on the table of the press furnace. - Start pressing Placing ingot and plunger Muffle with ingot and plunger under the press furnace Temperature and times were determined in our furnaces. Please adjust parameters according your results in your particular furnace
Devesting - Mark the end position of the plunger on the ring and remove excess investment with a cutting wheel. - Divest objects, beginning with polishing/glass beads (50 µm) at 4 bar pressure until pressed objects become visible. - Divest completely with 2 bar pressure Mark the position of plunger on the outside of the investment ring Remove excess investment - 7 -
Finishing - Only use proper cutting and grinding tools for all ceramic objects to cut sprues to finish the surface and to adjust fit. - Avoid excessive grinding and do not overheat the pressed ceramic objects. - Use low revolutions and only minor pressure with the handpiece. - Fit the object to the segment model using Occlu-spray. Adjust fit by removing misfit areas. - Round out the sprue connecting areas following form and function of the restoration. - To clean the object sandblast the entire outer surface with aluminium oxide and 1 bar pressure carefully and steam. Cut the sprue Sandblast the outer surface Pressed e-press glass ceramic object on the model Structuring of the surface - 8 -
Staining / Glazing - For characterisation all i-motion stains, shades and glaze ZT may be used. - Apply thin layers of paste of mix of powder and liquid. - Firing: After application of stains, shades or glaze objects are placed on the firing table on a proper firing tray. - Firing parameters see firing chart. Finished crowns after glaze and stain firing e-press crown before glaze and stain firing Finished crowns after glaze and stain firing Finished crowns after glaze and stain firing Firing - After application of stains, shades or glaze objects are placed on the firing table on a proper firing tray. - Firing parameters see firing chart
Layering - For the layering technique i-motion ZirTan layering porcelain may be used. - Liners and margins must not be used, due to their high firing temperature. Finished reduced high strength siliceous crown Application of pocelain powder Finished reduced high strength siliceous crown after first firing zirkon layering porcelain 1. Firing - After porcelain powder application place the objects in the firing furnace on a proper firing tray. - Firing parameters see firing chart. - Contour the objects surface after firing and clean carefully. - Subsequently apply corrections with porcelain powders for the second bake. 2. Firing - Similar procedure as for the first firing cycle, but with reduced firing temperature 770 C and 1 min hold time. All additional firing are conducted at 750 C. - Always programme 2 min opening time/retarded opening
