1 Executive Management Team Kris Singh SRII President & Chairman of the Board Kris Singh is the President and Chairman of Service Research & Innovation Institute with a mission to drive Innovation for IT Enabled Services for all the major sectors of economy at the global level. He has been the Strategic Programs Director for Service Research at IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, CA. Kris has over 25 years of experience in the high technology industry as well as in academia. Before IBM Research, he has worked with Intel, AMD and National Semiconductor in various technology development roles such as Director of Server Architecture & Planning and Data Center Technology at Intel, Director in the CTO Office at AMD and senior technical management roles at National Semiconductor. Kris has been an adjunct professor in the Electrical Engineering & Computer Science department at Santa Clara University, CA and also an Industry Fellow in the College of Engineering at UC Berkeley, CA. He is a member of the Advisory Board at several universities around the world. Kris has been an invited speaker at various technology conferences around the world. xvii

2 Dr. Yan Chow SRII Heath Care IT, SIG Lead Director of Kaiser Permanente (KP) Information Technology s Innovation & Advanced Technology Dr. Yan Chow is the Director of Kaiser Permanente (KP) Information Technology s Innovation & Advanced Technology Group (IAT). IAT identifies, assesses, and makes internal recommendations on new and emerging clinical information technologies that will impact health care in the next 2 to 5 years. IAT is affiliated with KP s Sidney R. Garfield Center for Health Care Innovation, an advanced 37,000-sf laboratory for care delivery simulation. Dr. Chow has had a successful clinical practice at KP for 26 years. For 10 of those years, he was also involved in regional IT management. Dr. Chow has founded and advised a number of start ups in the Internet, health care technology, storage, and database spaces. In 2004 he was awarded 3 U.S. patents for coinventing a network storage architecture 2 orders of magnitude faster than competitive designs. He also developed commercial database software that accelerated very large database (VLB) processing 240-fold. He has been an author and invited speaker at industry conferences. Dr. Chow earned his A.B. with honors from Harvard University and his M.D. from the University of California at San Diego. In 2005 he received his MBA from the University of California at Berkeley s Haas School of Business, where he graduated as valedictorian. Sharad Singhal SRII Cloud/Mobile Services SIG Leader Distinguished Technologist at Hewlett Packard Laboratories, Panel Lead/Moderator Sharad is a Distinguished Technologist at Hewlett Packard Laboratories. Prior to joining HP, he worked at Bell Laboratories on speech coding, and at Bellcore (now Telecordia) where he both conducted and managed research in a number of areas including speech and video processing, neural networks, middleware and personal communications services. Since 1997, he has been at HP Laboratories, where he has led teams that have developed techniques for monitoring and managing service level agreements; methods for controlling service quality in multi-tier applications, resource allocation and assignment algorithms; as well as architectures for management of large-scale data centers and cloud computing. Sharad obtained his B. Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and his MS. and PhD degrees from Yale University. xviii

3 Anjul Bhambhri SRII Big Data SIG VP of Big Data at IBM Anjul Bhambhri is the Vice President of Big Data Products at IBM. She was previously the Director of IBM Optim application and data life cycle management tools. She is a seasoned professional with over twenty-two years in the database industry. Over this time, Anjul has held various engineering and management positions at IBM, Informix and Sybase. Prior to her assignment in tools, Anjul spearheaded the development of XML capabilities in IBM s DB2 database server. She is a recipient of the YWCA of Silicon Valley s 'Tribute to Women in Technology' award for Anjul holds a degree in Electrical Engineering Arijit Sengupta SRII New Venture Partnership Founder & CEO, Beyondcore Arijit Sengupta is the CEO of BeyondCore, the Chair of the Cloud Computing Chapter of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), and a member of the Indian Cyber Security Advisory Group. BeyondCore was selected a Gartner Cool Vendor in Business Process Services, 2012 and won the Overall Most Innovative Cloud Provider award at the Up 2010 Cloud conference ahead of more than 150 firms. BeyondCore's SplitSecure Cloud Privacy solution was among the top three Cloud Infrastructure solutions at the GigaOm Structure 2011 conference. Arijit has guest lectured at Stanford and other universities on globalization and outsourcing; spoken at conferences in a dozen countries; and has been written about in The World Is Flat release 3.0, the New York Times, San Jose Mercury News, and other leading publications. Arijit held leadership positions at several ebusiness initiatives and previously worked at Oracle, Microsoft, and Yankee Group. He has received eight patents in the domains of Business Process as a Service, advanced analytics, business process improvement, privacy and information security. Arijit holds an MBA with Distinction from the Harvard Business School and Bachelor degrees with Distinction in Computer Science and Economics from Stanford University. xix

4 Sandeep Gopisetty SRII IT Service Management SIG Leader Distinguished Engineer, IBM Almaden Research Center Sandeep Gopisetty is an IBM ResearchDistinguished Engineer and a Senior Manager of Storage Services Innovation Labat IBM Almaden Research Center. Sandeep is currently leading research efforts in the areas of IT Service Management, Storage standards, Cloud and Clean sheet compute cloud architectures and implementations. Sandeep is an industry recognized leader for driving innovation in storage management and services, such as new analytics and planning capabilities for complex storage management tasks and innovative approaches to managing storage for new IT paradigms, such as cloud computing. Mandaleeka G.P.L. Narayana SRII Emerging Markets SIG Vice President, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India Mandaleeka G.P.L. Narayana is the Vice President of BS&CC at TCS, Hyderabad, responsible for managing and marketing BS&CC offerings to internal (TCS) constituencies. He has been working with Tata Consultancy Services Limited, the largest software services company of India and one of the fastest growing companies for the last 30 years. He served in various software development projects in TCS and managed the delivery center for Multinational companies from TCS, Bangalore. He led the business development for TCS in Silicon Valley, California during He initiated and managed the TCS s research collaborations with leading universities in US, working from Riverside, CA, till 02. His consulting work in telecom and wireless includes managing and leading India s first ISDN switch development, developing distributed software architecture for inter system roaming for Personal Communications Services (PCS). The currently managed research areas include value articulation, component reuse, enterprise modeling and contextual search engines. His other interests include formulating the R&D maturity levels in the similar lines as CMM, from innovation management standpoint. He is an active participant in business excellence initiatives. Mr. Mandaleeka holds Master s degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. He holds membership with international professional organizations such as ACM and he is a senior member of IEEE. He is a fellow of IETE xx

5 Simon Towers SRII for Emerging Markets SIG Head of the Center of Innovation for Tomorrow s Enterprise, Infosys Labs, India Simon Towers is the GM/AVP and Head of the Center of Innovation for Tomorrow s Enterprise, part of Infosys Labs. He and his family are based in Bangalore. After completing a DPhil at Oxford University and post-doctoral work at Edinburgh University, Dr. Towers has spent most of his career in industrial research for companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Adobe Systems in the UK and California s bay area. However, driven by a strong desire to see the fruits of his research make it into products, he has also spent significant parts of his career in product groups for Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft. Most recently, prior to joining Infosys, he was part of a startup company. He has three patents and numerous conference and journal publications. In his current role at Infosys, Dr Towers heads the Center of Innovation for Tomorrow s Enterprise. This organization is the home for seven research institutes that drive the research behind Infosys s corporate initiative of Building Tomorrow s Enterprise ( In addition, the center undertakes research on co-creation as an approach to innovation and drives Infosys-wide initiatives to enhance the internal culture of innovation. Kevin Ellis SRII Treasurer Director of Technical Architecture, Salesforce.com Kevin Ellis is a Director of Technical Architecture at Salesforce.com where he is responsible for all technical aspects of customer, colleague, and partner engagement that lead to the successful delivery of enterprise desktop, cloud, and/or mobile solutions, including enterprise integrations leveraging middleware tools and platforms. Kevin was also the Global IT Director for a multi-national chemical company and Senior VP of IT for PBR, an international professional sports and media organization. Prior to this Kevin was the Director of Service Science and Innovation at Sun Microsystems. In this role he was responsible for the strategy and portfolio management of Sun's technical service portfolio as well as working with Universities to define and discover Service Science focused opportunities. Kevin has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry and has worked in DoD, Telecommunications, Professional Services, and operations. He has held positions at MCI, Comsys, and GTE Government Systems. Kevin earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado, and holds a Masters in Computer Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Denver. xxi

6 Ralph Badinelli SRII Secretary Professor, Dept. of Business Information Technology at Virginia Tech Ralph Badinelli is a professor in the Department of Business Information Technology of the Pamplin College of Business of Virginia Tech. He received Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Management from the Krannert Graduate School of Business of Purdue University, an M.S. degree in Physics from Purdue University, and a B.S. degree in Mathematics and Physics from Hofstra University. His teaching responsibilities are in the areas of operations management and quantitative methods for business at the undergraduate, MBA and doctoral levels. He has taught many executive-development seminars on the subjects of project management, quality improvement, production and inventory control, and business strategy. Dr. Badinelli has published refereed articles across a wide range of topics including service science, inventory control policies, revenue management, probability estimation and decision analysis. Dr. Badinelli is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS), Project Management Institute (PMI) and a certified member of the Association for Operations Management (APICS), the 2010 Chairperson of the INFORMS Service Science Section and Secretary of the Service Research & Innovation Institute (SRII). Freimut Bodendorf SRII SIEQ SIG Leader Head of the Department of Information Systems, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg Freimut is head of the Department of Information Systems (Services Processes Information) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (School of Management). He is member of the Supervisory board of the Regional Computing Center Erlangen, of the Executive Board of the Multimedia Technologies Committee at the University of Erlangen- Nuremberg, of the Executive Board of the E-Learning Committee at the University of Erlangen-Nuernberg, of the German National Association for Computer Science (Gesellschaft für Informatik, GI), of the Special Interest Group Business Informatics at the GI, of the German National Association for Higher Education in Business Management (Verband der Hochschullehrer für Betriebswirtschaft, VHB), of the Scientific Committee of the VHB, and of the International Association for Computer Information Systems. 7 Thomas Renner SRII Europe SIG Head of Electronics Competency Center, Fraunhofer IAO, Stuttgart, Germany Thomas Renner is the head of department responsible for a large number of information and communication technology projects at Fraunhofer. His current focus areas include the following: Cloud computing (business models, technologies, software as a service), e- business strategies, inter-organizational business networks, agile business process management and process portals as well as automation of services. Several spin-off companies have been founded based on Fraunhofer technologies and project results. Thomas Renner has studied electrical engineering at Stuttgart University and at Oregon State University, Corvallis, USA. His work has been published in numerous papers and presentations. Thomas will play a key leadership role in SRII Global leadership team in the areas of Cloud Services, Business Process Innovation as well as driving SRII key initiatives in Germany/Europe. xxiii
