Myles MaChews has over 40 years of interna:onal governmental exper:se in public policy and Foreign Direct Investment with an extensive network of heads of state and senior government officials in Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America. As the Chief Execu:ve Officer of the Global Trade & Technology Center, Myles MaChews implements effec:ve public/private finance and strategic business plans for small to medium- sized businesses in need of equity investments. Myles MaChews specializes in opening up
3 governmental channels for companies in interna:onal markets, working in a joint project partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce Department, Interna:onal Trade Administra:on, US & Foreign Commercial Service since Before co- founding the Global Trade & Technology Center in 2003, from 1978 to 1984 Myles MaChews worked for Congressman Charles B. Rangel who serves on the Ways and Means CommiCee in the United States House of Representa:ves. Myles MaChews' first trade mission to The Gambia and Republic of Senegal in 1987 was with Alex Haley, Jr. going to the Roots Fes:val in Bangul, Gambia. While in these two countries Myles MaChews spoke on the government owned radio sta:ons about global trade opportuni:es. Myles MaChews and Nissan MaChews have traveled throughout South, Central, East, and West Africa and the MENA. In 2009, Myles MaChews co- authored a book :tled "China, Africa and the African Diaspora: Perspec:ves, which was hosted by Ambassador Henry Kissinger during the book launch. In January 2010 the Library of Congress hosted the second book launch in Washington, DC. In March 2010 Columbia University, the Africa Ins:tute, hosted the third book launch in the City of New York. In April 2010 the Aspen Ins:tute hosted the fourth book launch in Aspen, Colorado. Since January 2000, Myles MaChews has served on the New York District Export Council appointed by the Clinton administra:on. Myles MaChews has been reappointed to the New York District Export Council twice by the Bush administra:on and once by the Obama administra:on. The Global Trade & Technology Center as a trade and educa:onal associa:on has assisted American small and medium- sized companies export and import goods and services in numerous foreign markets. The Global Trade & Technology Center since 2006 has assisted American small and medium- sized companies secure Foreign Direct Investments including the EB5 Green Card Visa program. On April 13, 2007, Myles MaChews co- hosted with Wang Guang Ying an opening night dinner at the African Development Bank Annual Mee:ng in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. US Ambassador Cynthia Perry was the Guest of Honor along with other African ambassadors. The Global Trade & Technology Center has trained 300+ adults in several public colleges in the States of New York and New Jersey for careers as Customs Brokers, Hazardous Material Packing Cer:fica:on Specialists, logis:c specialists and freight forwarders. Myles MaChews graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Science
4 Degree in 1972 and again from New York University with a Masters Degree in Public Finance and Financial Management in During his first spring 2011 semester, Myles MaFhews ini=ated the first Pace University African con=nent student exchange program with the Republic of South Africa. Mrs. Onike Nicol- Houra, our keynote speaker, is a Sierra Leonean na:onal, joined the African Development Bank in She holds a Master degree in Corporate Communica:on, with a focus on marke:ng and business development. She also holds a Master degree in Informa:on and Communica:on Technologies (ICTs) and a Master degree in Environmental Communica:on. Her mul:disciplinary background allows her to cover a wide range of ac:vi:es involved in realizing new business opportuni:es, including product or service design, business model design, and marke:ng. Since May 2001, Mrs. Nicol- Houra has been working for the Private Sector Department of the African Development Bank, where she gained significant experience in informa:on and communica:on ac:vi:es, client rela:onship management, as well as Business promo:on. For the past 5 years, her scope of ac:vi:es has expanded to include marke:ng and business development. In this regard, she is ac:vely involved in designing and implemen:ng major business development ac:vi:es in private sector opera:ons. Before joining the African Development Bank, Mrs. Nicol- Houra was a communica:on specialist for the Interna:onal Finance Corpora:on (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. At the IFC, she was in charge of corporate and internal rela:ons, contact with the media, and development of broadly based communica:on strategy and was assigned the task of revamping the client base development Program of Africa Enterprise Fund (AEF).
5 Mrs. Nicol- Houra views her posi:on at the African Development Bank as an opportunity to create synergies between communica:on, marke:ng and business development ac:vi:es and make the most of it for private sector opera:ons, and beyond. Mrs. Onike Nicol- Houra is an IMD alumna. Rose Sager Trade Representa:ve for the Kingdom of Bahrain Born and raised in Bahrain, Rose immigrated to the US where she received a BS Degree in Mathema:cs and Business from City University of New York. Her career has included posi:ons as Financial Analyst and Registered Representa:ve at major Insurance companies and as Sales/ Training Director at a major airline. Rose joined the Office of the Economic Representa:ve as Trade Representa:ve for the Kingdom of Bahrain in Under the auspices of the Foreign Ministry and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain, her role is to facilitate and promote the US- Bahrain Free Trade Agreement since its implementa:on in August, Besides establishing major business contacts, she has promoted the Kingdom of Bahrain at various Trade Shows, Business- to- Business Networking events, Chamber of Commerce mee:ngs, World Trade Center Forums, Women Entrepreneur Associa:ons and Universi:es. 6 Tanya Cole joined the U.S. Commercial Service in 2006 as a Foreign Service Officer arer more than 20 years of experience in the private sector working on engineering and environmental infrastructure projects in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the United States. Ms. Cole served as Environmental Engineering Expert for the French Development Agency, USAID and the World Bank for water treatment, transporta=on, roads and waste management projects. Currently Ms. Cole is the U.S. Commercial Officer serving the New York and Tri- State U.S. Export Assistance Centers leveraging her business exper=se in Africa, Middle East and South America. Ms. Cole is part of a team spearheading the Presiden=al Doing Business in Africa Ini=a=ve using her network of resources achieved from serving in Tunisia as the U.S. Senior Commercial Liaison Officer to the African Development Bank (AfDB) for the U.S. Commercial Service, Office of the U.S. Execu=ve Director. She also served as U.S. Commercial AFaché at the U.S. Embassy Bogota Colombia where she supported the development and implementa=on of the currently enacted U.S. Colombian Free Trade Agreement. Ms. Cole organized and promoted more than 15 VIP ministerial technical trade visits and commercial marke=ng events, including four U.S. Secretary of Commerce s visits and the 2009 U.S. Secretary of State Rice s congressional trade promo=on visit to Medellin, Colombia. Ms. Cole has a MA degree in Diplomacy and Interna=onal Rela=ons, with dis=nc=on, Cer=ficate in Health Sciences, BS in Biochemistry and a BA in Psychology, from the University of Westminster, Harvard, and UCLA, respec=vely. Ms. Cole speaks French and Spanish.
7 Murat Mumari joined the U.S. Department of Commerce s Long Island Export Assistance Center in December 2013 as an interna:onal trade specialist. Mr. Mumari is a former U.S. Special Forces operator with mul:ple tours of duty abroad. He transi:oned his defense career into the private sector where he started a defense consultancy with a central focus on developing na:ons in the Balkans. His real world experience in defense and tac:cs allowed him to bring U.S. grade training and equipment to the Balkans during NATO integra:on and force moderniza:on. He also has extensive experience opera:ng a family owned small business in Detroit, MI and organizing and leading community based non- profit organiza:ons focused on inter- cultural, inter- genera:onal and inter- religious dialogue and understanding. Mr. Mumari holds a BS in Global Business and Public Policy from University of Maryland University College and is finishing his MA in Interna:onal Rela:ons from American University. Dr. Andrew O. Coggins, Jr., a na:ve New Yorker, is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Management and Management Science in the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. He teaches courses in interna:onal management and hospitality & tourism management. His research areas include all aspects of the cruise industry with a special interest in the Asian market, hospitality facili:es design and management, and travel and tourism management. He obtained his BA in Poli:cs from New York University. His Master of Science in
8 Management was jointly conferred by Boston University Brussels and the Vrije Univeriteit Brussels, where most of his research focused on the cruise sector, including ship finance, marke:ng, and taxa:on. His Ph.D. in Hospitality and Tourism Management was awarded by Virginia Polytechnic Ins:tute and State University. Dr. Coggins has spoken at numerous cruise industry conferences on a variety of topics. He has also wricen ar:cles for Cruise & Ferry Info, Cruise Industry News Quarterly, Cruise Business Review, and Designs 97 on different technical subjects. Prior to his arrival at Pace, Dr. Coggins was a professional consultant in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he taught courses on travel and tourism management, service quality management, hospitality facili:es management and design, and cruise line management for 6 years. Before moving to Hong Kong Dr. Coggins taught various hospitality and tourism courses and supervised the field study program at Virginia Tech. He was also a marke:ng intern at Cunard Line. A graduate of the German Armed Forces Staff College, Dr. Coggins is a re:red U.S. Navy Commander with 10 years of seagoing experience in the Pacific and Indian Oceans and 10 years of interna:onal and diploma:c assignments in Europe. His disserta:on, What makes a passenger ship a legend: The future of the concept of legend in the passenger shipping industry, was awarded the ITB 2006 Science Prize for Best Interna:onal Paper and published by VDM Publishing House Limited in Dr. Coggins is also an ac:ve member of New York SKAL and a former member of the Execu:ve CommiCees of SKAL Interna:onal Hong Kong and SKAL Asian Area. Susan Sadocha joined the U.S. Department of Commerce s Long Island U.S. Export Assistance Center in February 2014 as an Interna:onal Trade Specialist. Ms. Sadocha has spent the majority of her career in the interna:onal trade and development arena holding various policy and programma:c posi:ons within USDA s
9 Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) in Washington D.C. While at FAS, she managed several porsolios which sought to increase US agricultural exports, including her role as USDA liaison to interna:onal organiza:ons related to the food and agricultural sectors, such as the Organiza:on for Economic Coopera:on and Development (OECD), the Inter- American Ins:tute for Coopera:on on Agriculture (IICA) and the Interna:onal Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and as an Advisor to senior U.S. government policymakers. She has extensive experience managing both USG and private interna:onal exchange programs at the professional, post- graduate, graduate and secondary levels, and has evaluated global food assistance programs in Russia, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. A na:ve of the South Shore of Long Island, in 2011 Susan moved to the NY metropolitan area and began consul:ng in interna:onal trade, as well as held a posi:on at AFS- USA, a leader in inter- cultural exchange programs. Susan possesses a M.A. in Interna:onal Rela:ons from Boston University, and a B.A. in Interna:onal Studies from Long Island University.
