1 Business Analysis The Next Steps 2017 Professional Development Day PDD Speaker Biographies Sonja Almlie, CCBA, PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, Director of Project Management Practice. Sonja Almlie is the Director of Project Management Practice and teaches in project management, business analysis and agile. She was the SME for the PMP Exam Prep 8th Edition book and Coauthor of PM Crash Course 2nd Edition book. Sonja has over 20 years of experience, offering a wide range of real-world experience in business analysis and managing projects in IT, web technology, process optimization, usability and marketing. Chris Armstrong, President at Armstrong Process Group, Inc., Certified Business Architect (CBA), certified in TOGAF, ArchiMate, IT4IT, Open FAIR, UML, SysML. Mr. Chris Armstrong is an internationally recognized thought leader in business and enterprise architecture, formal modeling, process improvement, systems and software engineering, requirements management, and agile development. He represents APG at The Open Group, the Object Management Group, and the Business Architecture Guild. 2 Charles Betz, Senior IT Strategist, Consultant, Advisor, and Mentor. Charles is a strategic consultant to enterprise IT leaders for the "business of IT" with expertise in IT portfolio management, Agile methods and DevOps pipelines, application lifecycle management, IT service management, software engineering, data management and analytics, and systems management. Enterprise Architecture as applied to the "Business of IT" is one of his many specialties, as well as continuous improvement and Lean IT. He is experienced in retail, telecommunications, financial services, and health care verticals. Charles is the author of the first general survey textbook on IT management written from an Agile and Lean IT perspective: He is a published author of a highly rated Amazon book on IT management, which is in the 2nd edition with a major scientific and technical publisher. In addition, Charles is co-author of a recent book on Lean IT with a Shingo prize winner. Charles is an invited Strategy Board member for IT4IT Consortium, new IT management industry standard. He is also an ITIL reviewer and COBIT author, and frequent speaker at regional, national, and international conferences. Charles is skilled at developing and presenting courseware covering cutting edge trends in IT. Angie Buchholz, Senior Business Analyst. Angie is a Senior Business Systems Analyst at Thrivent Financial and in her second year as President of the Northeast Wisconsin IIBA Chapter. She has 10+ years of experience in the Business Analysis field including leading and managing large and small projects, implementation of Business Analysis process improvements and change management. Angie holds a Green Belt in CI and is working to establish her Black Belt. She has a Bachelor's of Science in Business Management and carries a P&C, L & Insurance license with the State of WI. Angie has led training sessions on Business analysis and project management skill sets for Thrivent participants as well as holding special sessions at other organizations such as Navitis, etc. She has facilitated key note sessions for the IIBA Northeast Wisconsin Chapter as well as Chapter Business Analyst leadership meetings. Facilitated numerous Continuous Improvement speeches, teach backs, and lunch n learns. Barbara A. Carkenord, IIBA Board of Directors, Director of Business Analysis Practice and Co-Director of Agile Practice at RMC Learning Solutions, CBAP, PMP, MBA, PMI-PBA. As the Director of Business Analysis at RMC Learning Solutions, Barbara combines her entrepreneurial and management experience with her love of education and business analysis to promote the development of the business analysis practice. During her career Barbara co-founded two successful companies and worked in varied industries including manufacturing, financial services, and software development. Barbara has written numerous books, articles, blogs, and training manuals all aimed at helping other professionals enhance their skills. In 2010, she was named the Small Business Woman of the Year by the Georgia Women in Technology. Throughout her career Barbara has been passionate about enabling people and organizations to succeed through analysis. Beginning her career in software development, early assignments allowed her to design systems which streamlined employee processes, increased the quality of information, and improved customer relationships. Barbara s focus on critical thinking and increasing business value drove her to help define the business analysis profession. As an early IIBA Member, she worked on the development of the worldwide standard for business analysis, the BABOK Guide. Barbara continues to volunteer with the IIBA mentoring, writing, presenting, and promoting the organization and its principles.

3 Cheryl Carstens, M. A. in Organizational Leadership, B.A. in Human Resources Management. Cheryl is a Course Developer with RMC Learning Solutions with 20 years of instructional and professional development experience. Her extensive experience in the design and delivery of training materials offers a unique perspective on business analysis, project management, Agile and leadership development. Cheryl can manage, design, develop and facilitate learning solutions for all audiences, including individual contributors, managers, directors, vice-presidents and international audiences. She has experience in navigating franchisor/franchisee relationships, large system implementations and global work teams. Tom Esch, MACF, MDiv. Tom Esch helps people communicate better when things are challenging. Tom has two Master s Degrees, one in Conflict Resolution from the Process Work Institute in Portland, Oregon, and the other in Theology from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. He also has completed Mediation Training at Hamline University. Since 1980, Tom has spoken in front of hundreds of groups and has helped business analysts and many other leaders to get better results through the power of communication and interpersonal awareness. Linda Finley, President and Owner Leadership Advantage, LLC. Consultant, Architect, Educator, Author and Coach. Linda is founder and leader of the Twin Cities Business Architecture Forum. She has served on the Business Architecture Guild Board and is a primary author of BIZBOK, A Guide to the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge. Linda is Faculty Leader for the BA Institute. An author, speaker, consultant, and coach, Linda owns her own management consulting firm, Leadership Advantage. Dan Geislinger, MBA, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM). As a Chief Technical Product Owner, Dan is an effective leader with a demonstrated talent for analyzing business problems and designing innovative solutions to help clients reach long-term business goals. Dan has excellent management, communication, and technical skills with a proven record of success on complex business architecture and information technology efforts, especially in bridging communication gaps between business and technology resources. He specializes in Product Lifecycle Management to include the Healthcare, Insurance, Medical Devices, Automotive, Retail, Manufacturing and Industrial industries. David Gelperin, CTO, ClearSpecs Enterprises. David has more than 50 years experience in software development with an emphasis on requirements, risk management and software quality, verification, and test (SQVT). During the last 15 years, he has focused on requirements specification, requirements management, and requirements risk management. David has been an SQVT coach and instructor, quality support manager, verification lead, project lead, and programmer. He has consulted for both commercial and in-house software development organizations. In 1986, Dave cofounded Software Quality Engineering ( now TechWell -- the leading provider of software quality information, worldwide -- and catalyzed the launch of Better Software magazine. Familiar with many methodologies such as Object Modeling (being certified by David A Taylor as a Convergent Engineer ), tool assisted requirements development, IBM RUP, Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, KanNot (OK, just checking the reader here) and more.
