We had excellent speakers, an excellent hotel and food, and excellent lessons learned. It was a great time for Networking Business Educators for Excellence. However, like the ad for Snapple says, The best just got better! This year s conference is going to be even bigger and better with a total of 17 speakers and 15 sessions to choose from. The schedule will allow us to better target the different interest groups and provide more time between sessions for networking. 5 5 Afternoon: Donald Christian, Dean of the College of Business for Concordia University Texas, has grown the College by over 50% over the past four years, making it the largest and fastest growing traditional program on Concordia s campus. He is also one of the authors of the University s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) entitled Providing a Campus Life that Develops Leaders. He completed his undergraduate work at Concordia University Chicago, earned a Masters in Music and Wind Conducting from the University of Cincinnati, and a Ph.D. in Management and Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix where his research and dissertation focused on the correlation between leadership skills and interagency collaboration among organizations. Dinner: Jerry Chi, Professor and Business Department Chair at Southwestern Adventist University, is also a certified piano and violin instructor. He was named SWAU Educator of the Year in 2007 and led the SIFE team to win seven regional championships ( ) and a National Runner-Up in He received a B.A in Theology, B.B.A. in Accounting, M.B.A. and Ph.D. in Leadership and Administration, a Ph.D. in Statistics and Research Evaluation and is currently working on a Ph.D. in E-Commerce Marketing. Lunch: Dale Crownover, is President and CEO of Texas Nameplate Company, Inc. a 40-person family-owned business that makes nameplates for identification of products and equipment. Dale s visionary leadership led to the following awards: (1) Texas Quality Award in 1996, (2) ISO , Quality Management System, Certification, (3) ISO , Environmental Management System, Certification, (4) 1997 Texas Business of the Year award from the Texas Association of Businesses & Chambers of Commerce, and (5) Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in Small Business in 1998 and 2004.

Cordeiro is a 2008 MBA graduate from LeTourneau University and recent Best Strategy Invitational Grand Champion. He serves as a research & development project manager for Alcatel-Lucent and has recently formed a new company to operate as a tutoring service for business students and consulting resource for managers. Les Crall, Associate Dean and Professor in the School of Business and Technology at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, teaches primarily in the areas of legal issues affecting businesses and business owners. He has authored numerous publications and presentations relative to legal issues effecting business. He also serves as a consultant evaluator and member of the Accreditation Review Committee for the Higher Learning Commission of North Central. He received his B.S. degree in Accounting and Computer Science, and an MBA degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He received his Law degree from the University of Oklahoma. Bob Driver, Professor of Finance and Business at LeTourneau University, holds a B.S. from the Citadel, M.B.A. from University of Houston, and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas. He served four years in the U. S. Air Force as a B-47 navigator and Maintenance Supervisor. He worked as an engineer for the Florida Power & Light Co. for two years and for twenty one years at the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) as an integration test manager during implementation of the Mission Control Center, and served as the JSC Financial Officer from He held the Prince-Chavanne endowed Professorship in Christian Business Ethics at Houston Baptist University from 1988 to 2000.

Doug holds a B.B.S. degree in Business Information Systems, and an M.B.A. in Technology Management. He has strived to do more than simply co-exist with the students and their ever-advancing use of technologies, considering these as instruments or tools to be used to encourage student involvement and interaction. Warren Matthews, Professor of Economics at LeTourneau University, holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A&M University. He served as the LeTourneau Houston Site Director from Prior to teaching he worked for fifteen years in Washington, DC as an economist and policy analyst. His work was focused on economic forecasting, operations analysis and financial industry analysis at the Center for Naval Analyses, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Mortgage Bankers Association. Ryan Parris, full-time faculty at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, is a CPA and earned his Masters of Accountancy from Oklahoma University. With over 15 years in the accounting field, he has been an auditor with Ernst & Young, comptroller with the State of Oklahoma, and performed financial accounting and tax work for ndividuals, small businesses, and nonprofits.

Dr. Ray retired from SBC Communications after twenty seven years of service with over twenty years in various management positions. Beverly Rowe, Associate Professor of Accounting at LeTourneau University, holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from Texas A&M University. She is a CPA and specializes in financial and managerial accounting. Most recently, she participated as a financial analyst in the Financial Accounting Standards Board s field test of the Financial Statement Presentation Project and published research work on making financial decisions in electronic environments. Shawn Shreves, Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems at Howard Payne University, earned his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Texas A&M - Commerce. He has served in both administrative roles as the director of computer services and faculty roles at both community colleges and universities over his 25 year career span in higher education. Bill Stevenson, Director of International Programs at John Brown University, oversees international student programs, study abroad opportunities, and all international mission projects, and has traveled to more than 40 countries. He creates a global learning environment for university students. Bill s life has followed a circuitous route -- starting with an early childhood in Northern Ireland, moving on to South Korea and, ultimately, bringing him to the United States. His own intercultural experience has equipped him to understand the unique struggles and challenges that face students studying in different countries. He also teaches in the department of intercultural studies and is active in the National Association of Foreign Student Educators. Wendel Weaver, Assistant Professor of Marketing and Management at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, holds a B.S. in Organizational Communication from the University of Texas, a M.B.A. in Marketing from LeTourneau University, and is currently pursuing a D.B.A. from Anderson University. Mr. Weaver has 15 years of experience in Christian Camping and served four years as Corporate Stock Broker with Fidelity Investments.
