DAN GILLIAM Retired, Phillips 66, Tulsa, OK Dan Gilliam is retired from Phillips 66 where he held numerous finance and leadership positions over his 38 year career. Dan has a bachelor s degree in accounting from Oklahoma State University. He is the past Chairman of the OSU Alumni Association. He is also a past Chair of the Spears School of Business Associates Board and a member of the School of Accounting Advisory Board. Dan has served on the Executive Committee of the Oklahoma State Chamber, the Oklahoma Heritage Association, Leadership Oklahoma and is also active in community affairs having served on numerous boards and committees including Chairman of the Board of both the Ponca City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Bartlesville Regional Chamber of Commerce. CHRIS DELK Vice President, General Tax Counsel, ConocoPhillips, Houston, TX Chris Delk is the Vice President and General Tax Counsel for ConocoPhillips. He has 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry working in the U.S. and abroad. Chris is a proud alumni of Oklahoma State and the University of Tulsa and is a member of the International Tax and Investment Center board of directors. JONATHAN DUERSCH Associate Chief Accountant, Office of the Chief Accountant, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Washington, D.C. Jonathan Duersch is an associate chief accountant in the office of the chief accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Jonathan leads consultation requests from public and private companies on current novel and complex accounting issues related to debt equity transactions, consolidations, derivatives, long-lived assets, and oil and gas accounting matters. He is involved with assessing the accounting implications of regulatory rule-making projects undertaken by the Commission specifically related to the oil and gas industry and has led SEC oversight of specific FASB s standard setting projects. MICHAEL FLICKINGER Advisor, Customs and Accounting, American Petroleum Institute, Washington, D.C. Michael Flickinger is an advisor for customs and accounting at the American Petroleum Institute. He s worked closely with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Petroleum Center of Excellence and Expertise. He was involved in the pipeline Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee working group that enacted the in-transit pilot program adopted for in-transit American crude crossing into Canada via pipeline and then coming back into the U.S. without having to declare entry. Michael is an active member of the API Trade Working Group that closely monitors trade related issues and advocates for free trade principles to the benefit of member companies. BYRONY COAN Director, Upstream, Opportune, LLP, Houston, TX Byrony Coan is a director in Opportune LLP s upstream group. She has more than 16 years of experience in project management, product management, process consulting, and change management. In addition, Byrony has a subject matter expertise in upstream from operations through the value chain to financial reporting. Her client base has ranged from start-up companies to small independents to fortune 500 companies. BILL HALE Principal, Advisory Services, EY, Houston, TX Bill Hale is a principal in the advisory services practice of EY. As a member of this practice, Bill has more than twenty years of advisory and industry experience in the energy sector. He has broad experience across the finance and accounting and supply chain functions, primarily focused on the upstream segment. Bill has led multiple transformation efforts for clients including Fortune 100 global integrated oil and gas companies, large independent upstream producers, midstream companies, small independents, and oil-field service companies. JEFF HUSEN Controller, ONE Gas, Tulsa, OK Jeff Husen is the controller at ONE Gas. He is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, and financial planning functions at ONE Gas. Prior to his current position, Jeff was the assistant controller at ONEOK and ONEOK Partners and was responsible for corporate accounting, SEC reporting, Sarbanes Oxley, and enterprise risk management processes. He is a CPA and chartered global management accountant.
6 17TH ANNUAL ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL REPORTING CONFERENCE Friday, November 17, 2017 GEORGE KRULL Interim Department Head, School of Accounting, Spears School of Business, Oklahoma State University Dr. George Krull is the interim department head for the School of Accounting at Oklahoma State University. He previously was a partner in the executive office of Grant Thornton LLP before retiring. He worked with the implementation of the firm s automated audit and control software and was the chief learning officer. Dr. Krull was one of the founding members of the Sponsoring Group of the Pathways Commission-the National Commission on Accounting Education to chart a national strategy for the next generation of accountants. MELANIE HARVEY Instructor of Professional Practice, School of Accounting, Spears School of Business, Oklahoma State University, Tulsa, Ok Melanie Harvey is an instructor of professional practice in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University, primarily assigned to the OSU-Tulsa campus. She joined the faculty in Prior to OSU, Professor Harvey was a senior manager at Chesapeake Energy Corporation where she spent 12 years in various accounting and finance leadership roles, including the areas of midstream, oil and gas marketing, financial reporting, corporate planning, and drilling services. She began her career in public accounting as an auditor for KPMG. Professor Harvey is a 2002 graduate of OSU with master s and bachelor s degrees in accounting. She still maintains her CPA license in the state of Oklahoma. She currently teaches intermediate I accounting and cost accounting on the OSU-Tulsa campus. MELISSA ROCHA Senior Assistant Chief Accountant, Division of Corporation Finance, Securities and Exchange Commission, Washington, D.C. Melissa Rocha is a senior assistant chief accountant in the office of construction and manufacturing within the division of corporation finance at the SEC. Prior to her current role, Melissa worked in various industry groups within the division including healthcare and insurance, beverages, apparel and mining, and computers and online services. Before joining the Commission in 2000, she worked as an SEC reporting manager for a publicly traded hotel owner and operator. JOHN FIEBIG Senior Deputy Director, PCAOB, Dallas, TX John Fiebig is a senior deputy director in the division of registration and inspections for the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and is the leader for the Global Network Firm Program. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the inspections of the six largest domestic registered accounting firms and their non-u.s. affiliates. John has been both the global team leader and U.S. team leader for the inspections of one of the Big 4 firms. In 2016, he was inducted into the Oklahoma State University School of Accounting Wilton T. Anderson Hall of Fame. HAROLD L. MONK JR. Board Member, Financial Accounting Standards Board, Washington, D.C. Harold L. Monk Jr. is a board member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board. Prior to joining the board, he served as a partner with Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC where he proved auditing and attestation, accounting, tax, forensic accounting, and M&A services to public and private companies of all sizes in various industries. Harold brings a strong private company financial reporting perspective to the FASB. KEN CAMERON Director, Human Capital Services Consulting Practice, Grant Thornton LLP, Atlanta, GA Ken Cameron is a director in Grant Thornton s Human Capital Services Consulting Practice. Eddy is from Henryetta Oklahoma and graduated from OSU in 1978 with his bachelors in accounting and in 1981 with his masters in accounting. Eddy is currently the lead instructor for the financial accounting research graduate level course at Oklahoma State University. JEREMY CLOPTON Director, Big Data and Analytics, Digital Forensics, BKD, LLP, Springfield, MO Jeremy Clopton leads the BKD big data and analytics and digital forensics practices. He has more than 11 years of experience applying data analytics in fraud prevention and detection, risk assessment and business intelligence.
