1 THURSDAY 10/2 9:00AM Karyn Gayle Karyn Gayle is the Vice President of Healthcare at Acuity Brands Lighting, one of the world s leading lighting, controls and daylighting manufacturers. With more than 14 years of experience in the lighting industry, she is keenly focused on understanding and improving the visual experience of those in the healthcare industry in a sustainable, energy-efficient manner. A strong advocate for the role that advanced lighting systems play in enabling optimized environments for patients, caregivers, staff, and families in healthcare facilities, she works closely with Acuity Brands innovation and product design teams to ensure the company is leading the healthcare space through technological advancements, evidence-based design principles and voice-of-the-customer insights. Throughout the past few years, Karyn has conducted educational presentations, workshops, focus groups and in-depth seminars on lighting and controls design for healthcare facilities to hundreds of participants across North America. She has an MBA in international business and a BBA in marketing from Georgia State University. Lars J. Christiansen With more than 20 years of experience in architectural lighting within Europa and US, Mr. Christiansen has a broad knowledge of the history and technical details of the lighting industry. Since 1991 Mr. Christiansen has been employed by Louis Poulsen Lighting, in different countries, and came to US in In the nine years abroad Mr. Christiansen has done hundreds of presentations for IES, AIA etc. from Technical LED / Product and custom solutions, to history of modern Danish furniture classics. The presentation will focus on the thoughtprocess and vision of Poul Henningsen, the architect behind the PH Artichoke fixture and many many other products in Louis Poulsen s lineup. Kim Johnson Kim Johnson is the northeast regional specification sales manager for Acuity Brands Lighting. She has over 14 years of experience in the lighting industry and has held positions with electrical distribution, a lighting sales agent and lighting manufacturers. She has obtained her LEED accreditation and is actively involved with the Philadelphia section of the Illuminating Engineering Society. She currently serves on the board of managers and has held positions as the President, Vice President of Programs and Secretary.She graduated from West Virginia University with a BSBA with concentration in sales and marketing.

2 THURSDAY 10/2 10:30AM Jim Yorgey Jim Yorgey joined Lutron Electronics Co., Inc., in 1974 and has held numerous positions in quality control, engineering, marketing, and sales departments. He spent several years in the company s London office, as well as on assignment in the Pacific Rim as part of the team that developed Lutron s export business. Jim is currently Technical Applications Manager. Jim s current role, as one of Lutron s System Sales Engineers, supports the sales and marketing groups in the mid-atlantic region and professional Audio Visual channels. Jim provides technical support for specifiers and consultants in the proper integration of lighting, lighting controls, and window treatments into commercial spaces. Jim is a member of I.E.E.E., IESNA, INFOCOMM, and NSCA. He has served on various committees of the IESNA, including the Videoconference and Presentation Lighting Committee, Energy Management Committee, Progress Committee and the Residence Lighting Committee. He has served as a member of the ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1 Project Committee, Energy Efficient Design of New Buildings. His involvement and interest in the field of energy management spans the 30 years that Lutron has produced energy saving lighting control equipment. He is past chair of the National Lighting Bureau and has been a board member for 12 years. Jim has been involved in lighting education at Parsons School of Architecture in New York and the INFOCOMM Institute for Professional development. Collette Flemming Winona Custom Lighting Craig Fox As the Northeast Architectural Regional Manager for ETC, Craig spends a great deal of time educating and providing AIA/CES/LEU credits to Engineers, Architects and Consultants. Craig helps to lay out systems and solve interesting design challenges while continuing to make sure even the most demanding control projects work as designed, even if they include dimmable LED fixtures! Prior to working at ETC, Craig held positions as Director of Project Management for a prominent NY lighting specifier, Senior Project Manager with a Systems Integrator and Technical Supervisor for a touring show.

3 THURSDAY 10/20-1:30PM Dean Brockob Dean Brockob, LC, LEED-AP, has a diverse background of 22 years in the lighting industry. Currently, he is a regional sales manager with USAI. Dean has been a member of the IESNA since 1991, and is past-president of the Atlanta section. He served previously on the IES Outdoor Environmental committee ( ), and is currently on the Human-centric Lighting Committee (HCL). He has presented at IES meetings in 20 different cities, and also presented at LightFair in Dean graduated from the lighting program at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has an MBA from Georgia State University in Atlanta. Prior to USAI, Dean was a sales manager with Hydrel, Louis Poulsen, and Lithonia Lighting. Other prior experience includes working for the EPA s Green Lights program in Washington, DC. (Green Lights was the genesis of the Energy Star Buildings program) Michael Holtz Michael is an architect who has been a national and international leader energy and environmental research, development, and design consulting since1972. He founded and managed Architectural Energy Corporation and LightLouver LLC, and has held senior research and management positions with the AIA Research Corporation in Washington, D.C. and the Solar Energy Research Institute (now the National Renewable Energy Laboratory) in Golden, Colorado. Michael has managed international collaborative energy research programs sponsored by the International Energy Agency, the United Nations and the U.S. Department of Energy, and has consulted on the design of hundreds of energy and environmentally-responsive residential and commercial buildings. Pete Neal Many of you may know Pete as he spent eleven years in the Controls Department at LaFace & McGovern in various positions involving theatrical lighting and color changing LED s. Prior to working at L&M Pete spent three years with Electronic Theatre Controls in Madison, WI and New York City and two years with a Lighting Systems Integrator in Central PA. Pete now covers the Midwest region for LED lighting manufacturer Lumenpulse but he still calls Pittsburgh home.

He has BS from Purdue with graduate studies at Penn State, he worked as a lighting consultant and specification salesperson in Philadelphia from after which he joined Finelite where he currently holds the position of Area Vice President of Sales-Central Region Brent Protzman Brent has a Ph.D in Architectural Engineering from the University of Nebraska and is a former Assistant Professor and Researcher in the Building Systems Program at the University of Colorado. His research and publications have focused on building performance through human factors in lighting and sustainable building systems. With an expertise in both energy performance and human factors, he has unique understanding of the interactions between building system operation, occupant acceptance, and environmental functionality. As Manager-Energy Information and Analytics at Lutron Electronics, his team s research and collaborations are often at the forefront of building system technology and innovation. Kevin Smith Kevin Smith is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University School of Architecture and a Registered Architect. As Director of Product Application and Development he is responsible for the development of products and custom project solutions as well as leading the Engineering/Architecture and Estimating departments. Prior to joining EXTECH in 2007, Kevin served Port Authority of Allegheny County for thirteen years as Senior Project Manager- Architecture within the Capital Engineering/Architecture Department following twelve years of architectural practice encompassing commercial, retail, site development and healthcare design.

With more than 6 years in the daylighting industry, Brian has held roles in both regional and national sales as well as business development focused on the contractor, specification and end user markets. Brian holds a bachelor s degree from Columbia College Chicago and currently resides in Kenosha, WI with his wife and two children. Michael Clemens Mike is the Controls Sales Manager for Acuity Brands Northeast Region. Previously he was Sr. Value Stream Manager for nlight and Sensor Switch at Acuity Brands, leading the group responsible for product development and product marketing. Prior to Acuity, Mike spent 7+ years at Newell Rubbermaid in various sales and marketing management roles and was responsible for launching and growing the RHINO product line in the Electrical and datacomm markets. He also managed the IRWIN and LENOX channel marketing team for Newell Rubbermaid in the Electrical, Plumbing and Construction markets. A veteran of the datacomm and telecom markets, Mike has previously directed the marketing functions for LAN and Fiber connectivity products as well as high speed fiber optic transport systems. Mike Holds a BA from Siena College and an MS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

His research and publications have focused on building performance through human factors in lighting and sustainable building systems. Stashik Ms. Stashik is a Specification Marketing Manager with Acuity Brands Lighting s Vertical Marketing Team. Sandra supports the Vertical Team as a direct link to the specification community and works with the team members marketing efforts. Sandra also assists in new product development and specifications, education and outreach to the lighting community. Prior to joining Acuity, she was a Principal in a Philadelphia based lighting design firm, Grenald Waldron Associates, with projects worldwide. Her work encompassed interior and exterior environments, from buildings, sites, to streetscapes and bridges. She has also been involved in educational projects both domestically and international including the Princess Nora university for Women in Saudi Arabia. Sandra is a registered professional engineer, Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society, LEED accredited professional, Affiliate Member of the International Association of Lighting Designers and a member of the Lighting Industry Resource Council. She serves on several IES and IALD committees and is a past member of the Board of Directors of the IES. Sandra has lectured at Lightfair, local and national IES and Street and Area Lighting Conferences, IFMA, DOE LED Conference and at the EEB Hub. She has also taught Sustainable Lighting and Daylighting at Bucks County Community College as part of a Sustainable Buildings Class.
