4 Design Constraint Satisfaction Fan style auditorium with 4 sections of seating on both main floor and balcony, based off of EASE Theatre template Approximately 1500 seats on balcony, 3500 seats on main floor Dimensions for the stage were based off of Elliott Hall of Music, and seating area dimensions were created from there Stage materials were picked based on what were assumed standard stage materials o Wood stage o Curtained sides o Concrete ceiling o Carpet on concrete for the main floors

5 Design Constraint Satisfaction Materials for the seating areas were chosen that have high levels of absorption, especially at the higher frequencies o Different types and sizes of woodgrid for the ceiling and back walls o Drapery for the side walls o Fiberglass on the front of the balcony Two J arrays to cover most of the seating space, plus front fill system to aid in coverage for front of venue Under budget by over $60,000

18 Equipment Selection - Power Amps Due to having an all-powered system, no need for any additional amplifiers Internal amplifiers are Class I, which is Crown Audio s version of a Class D (highly efficient) Capable of delivering 6000W peak, 3000W continuous Main array able to deliver 143 db at 1m Front fills able to deliver 140 db at 1m At 120V, 6A needed per speaker

23 Equipment Selection - Racks Three racks of equal size (27U) Each rack has a different main use o o o I/O and DSP Microphone transmitters and receivers Storage and power distribution for speakers Extra room in microphone and transmitter rack to support additional purchases in the future All racks located on stage o o o Cables need to run between them Power strips for speakers Transmitters and receivers in close proximity to the mics

27 Equipment Selection - Cabling Microphones: 20 wireless mics o Receiver of each unit is connected to the Rio3224-D rack using Kramer 3-pin XLR cable 30 wired mics o Each one directly wired to a Rio 3224-D rack using Kramer 3-pin XLR cable XLR cables of varying length Speakers: 24 speakers o Connected to each other in daisy chain technique using Cat5e ethernet cable o Connected to digital switch using Cat5e ethernet cable o Yamaha CL3 mixer connected to Rio3224-D racks using ethernet; also to computer with ethernet

30 Summary Our design is successful in meeting the requirements of the project: No more than +5dB variance from 500Hz - 8kHz At least 105dB SPL at back wall of theatre Under $500,000 in costs (remainder can be used for maintenance) Relatively consistent coverage throughout seating area Other design notes: Two main speaker arrays and separate front-fill speakers Speaker elements connected via ethernet All in-ear monitors Some wireless and some wired microphones
