This eclectic, award-winning music series continues to attract people from all over the Bay Area to celebrate the beautiful downtown plaza. This year s highlights include a nod to the 50 th year of the British Invasion with the Sun Kings--the Bay Area s best Beatle band--and The RaveUps doing Yardbirds, The Animals, and Cream. Yea, Yea, Yea!! More tributes include Foreverland--a sensational nod to the King of Pop, and Zepparella--the all-female rocking tribute to Led Zeppelin. Stealin Chicago, James Garner, and The Purple Ones compliment the schedule with their authentic representation of the sounds of Chicago, Johnny Cash, and Prince. Multi-Cultural highlights include Da Island Way bringing their colorful, Polynesian music and dance revue, and Dakila who play Latin Rock with a Pilipino twist. Dan Ashley and Push will host the annual Mayor s Cook-off which this year includes a Sing-off featuring some of the best singers from around the Diablo Valley. New Generation jammin Americana rockers Midnight North is not to be missed, featuring the original songs of Grahame Lesh. Yes. The son of that Lesh. The Lafayette Studio Big Band will close the Thursday series on September 11 th 2014 with a moving memorial to 9/11 featuring Big Band classics and songs that give a nod to the great city of New York. The Series in July, now in its 4th year, offers some of the best blues the Bay Area including four time W.C. Handy Blues winner Chris Cain and Diablo Valley favorite Frankie G and the Conviction. Father s Day, Sunday, June 15 th will be rockin with James Clark and the Jailhouse Rockers doing their vibrant Elvis Presley revue., on Tuesday, August 5 th offers two excellent local bands, Garageland Rodeo and LUMBERYARD on the main stage from 6:30 to 8pm. And then starting at 8pm, Cascada performs their high-energy, acoustic Spanish Flamenco in Salvio Pacheco Plaza, plus there's Community Karaoke at the corner of Salvio and Mt. Diablo Streets, and Steve Sage s Rock, Rhythm and Blues Revue will feature 30 bands in 90 minutes at the plaza in front of Skippolini s Pizza.. One of the Bay Area's first civic series--and much emulated by other cities--concord's Music and Market Series attracts a diverse, multi-generational, family-oriented audience who have co-created this series for over a quarter century! Drawing several thousand people each week, with easy access to BART, and framed by the abundance of the Pacific Coast Farmers Market, come see for yourself why Concord remains on the Livability.com list as one of the top ten small city destinations for music in the nation.
