About Fostering. Hello, my name is Hilary Walshe and I manage Break s Fostering Service. You probably have a lot of questions, so I have tried to answer some of them in this booklet. But if you have any other questions do ask me, talk to your foster carer, or social worker. The Break Fostering Service is based at the Break office in Norwich beside Funky Monkeys! What.. isfostering Schofield House Spar Road, Norwich, NR6 6BX Sometimes things happen which mean you can t live with your own family, and you need to be looked after by someone else. You will be living with foster carers. Foster Carers are people that look after children when their own family can t. Everyone needs someone to look after them and the foster carers at Break are some of the very best foster carers who will do their best to care for you. will.. Fostercare How long I be in Some children are in foster care for a few days, and some children will stay with their foster carers until they are grown up. Your social worker will plan this with your family and you depending what is best for you.

Make sure you see people who are important to you like. your family. and friends.. Help you make new friends and try different.. activities.... Help you stay out of trouble Make sure you know who to tell. if you want to talk to someone Keep you safe
So thisis... abitabout yournewfoster carers Our names are X and Y we will be your new foster carers. It will be our job to care for you for as long as we need to. We know you might be worried about staying with someone new, so we will do our best to make you feel less worried. This is a picture of us You can call us: This is a picture of our children
Here are some pictures of our pets They are called: Here are some photos of your new home This is your bedroom This your play area

. life..... be likeliving Sowhat will with XandY You will have your own bedroom, where you can chill out, have your own things and pictures that you like. Your room will be private to you and no one will come in without knocking. But if X and Y are worried you are doing something dangerous they will come and check on you. X and Y will want to know what you like to eat and drink and what you don t like. They will want you to have food that is good for you and will make you healthy. But there will be room for sweets and chocolate sometimes. None of us can do just whatever we want and X and Y will have rules in the house. Some rules you can talk about with X and Y if you don t think they re fair. But some rules are important to follow. X and Y want to keep you safe and will talk to you about their rules. They want you to be well cared for. If you do something wrong/break the rules there will be consequences which X and Y and your social worker will talk to you about. You might be asked to repair damage you have done or have something or have something taken away for a while. But everyone will be fair to you.
You will get... pocket money, which is the same for all children the same age as you. You may want to save some, or need help making your money last. X and Y can help you if you want. X and Y would like to help you with your activities, hobbies, sports and other things you like to do. Perhaps you would like to try something new While you are living with X and Y there will be meetings to talk about how things are going for you. It is important to tell us how you feel and what you are thinking. You can come to the meetings if you want to. Everyone wants the best for you. It is important you go to school. X and Y and your social worker will try to make sure you go to school and are happy there. To make sure you are healthy and well cared for. You will see doctors and dentists, and perhaps have your eyes and ears tested. We want you to be happy and safe, so Break does not accept bullying. Bullying could be name calling, hitting and nasty language. This could be in person, texts or chat rooms. If anything upsets you, speak to X and Y, or your social worker.
If you have any problems or are unhappy with, or want something to change, there are lots of people you can talk to. If you have problems with your foster carers you can talk to your social worker. Your social worker is: Their phone number is: Your Independent Reviewing Officer: Their phone number is:
